Title: Typical. Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:33:42 I got paid today. I get paid every four weeks, but all my bills go out the 1st of the month. My next payday is 1st January, which means I have a months wages with no bills :wotjump:
My car started playing up last night on the way home from Portland. Took it to my mate who owns a garage and he thinks it's probably the catylitic converter. It's booked in tomorrow. Cunting car. Title: Re: Typical. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:47:03 The catalytic converters are notoriously shit on Meganes. And being French, they're ridiculously expensive to replace.
Is he sure it's the CC though? What problem were you having? Title: Re: Typical. Post by: Sippo on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 08:49:08 My CAT cost me £250 think it was. Wasn't faulty but the whole exhaust had to be replaced. Damn car!!
Title: Re: Typical. Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:18:36 It's coughing and sputtering like it's on 40 fags a day, really slow accelaration, especially in lower gears and the streering wheel and gear knob are rattling around when the engine's running at idle.
I may have to use my other half's car on Saturday: a mustard coloured Saxo..... Title: Re: Typical. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:23:05 I think that Ling could be attractive to Fitton because of the sheer length of time that he has been at orient.............. stability and all that.

What the fuck has that got to do with my car? Title: Re: Typical. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:28:23 Sounds like either an air intake or a sensor problem to me. More than likely the MAF sensor which is behind the air intake or could be the Lambda sensor. They get caked in dirt which stops them from working properly, just give them a clean and could be good as new.
Also, from the MAF sensor there's a small pipe running into the air box. They can get small splits in them causing stuttering problems. Title: Re: Typical. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:31:53 Get a Haynes manual if you haven't got one, they're very handy.
Title: Re: Typical. Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:33:36 Sam. The extent of my vehicle knowledge is the petrol cap and the wiper bottle.
If I touch anything mechanical, I kill it. Title: Re: Typical. Post by: herthab on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:36:00 Here's an idea. Stop buying French cars, they are notoriously badly made! Changing it at the end of the season. Probably get a Ford this time. Title: Re: Typical. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 09:40:49 What the fuck has that got to do with my car? Ha, that'll be the in the wrong thread then innit. Title: Re: Typical. Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, December 4, 2008, 11:06:17 Changing it at the end of the season. Probably get a Ford this time. The end of the football season or the car season? When does the car season end? I have had a few fords, had no problems with them although my first car (old) X Reg Ford Escort 1.6 did die but that was an old thing! Title: Re: Typical. My ex had a 206 and performance dropped and was just shit. like it was on kangaroo petrol etc. took it to garage who diagnosed this after AA said it was the CAT and it was perfect after. My GF had a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi (53 plate) which was a good car. handled really well but now we've a vauxhall signum 1.9cdti 150bhp which is just quality. top spec everything (19" rims, Xenons, light/wiper sensor, parking sensors, sports susspension, leather, built in sat nav etc etc) all for £10k and only 16 months old (18 now) Title: Re: Typical.
