Title: New Years Eve parties Post by: nochee on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 20:39:29 Before anyone says that its too early to think about, Bollocks!!!
Mostly NYE is well over hyped and usually turns out to be piss poor, more expensive and sober cos you cant get to the bar cos every man, his dog and mother in law is out in the pubs. The best NYE i have ever had is in Newquay. EVERYONE and i mean EVERYONE is in fancy dress. EVERYONE is having a blinding time with no trouble in sight. Its fantastic that people get right into whatever character they dressed as and you dont have to stand in a bar. The streets are packed with people. What ever money you spend on digs are recouped easily as you only need to go to the off licence to buy booze, of course bars are an option. I fully reccomend Newquay as the best NYE ever! Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: DMR on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 20:42:24 So, what, did you sit in your hotel room in fancy dress drinking tins from the offie?
That's how it comes across. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: nochee on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 20:47:22 So, what, did you sit in your hotel room in fancy dress drinking tins from the offie? Maybe it does, oops. That's how it comes across. I did mention that the streets are packed with people, maybe i should of added drinking dancing and basically messing about in full character. Definatly worth a try. Not just young piss heads either, all ages are there. I am just trying to pass on the experience that i had a few years back.. It beat NYE in Sydney by the opera house/bridge hands down. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: suttonred on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 21:10:31 Edinburgh is pretty good, traflagar square is shite, best i've had is wahii beach in NZ.
Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: axs on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 23:14:54 I did a NYE in Sydney at the harbour, it was a little disappointing. Far too busy to have any fun.
Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Barry Scott on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 23:19:05 NYE, apart from the Millennium celebrations in Fusion with a free bar, has always been shit. Christmas Eve is where it's at, probably because the expectation is lower.
Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 23:20:09 as stated before its always pretty fucking ace at mine ask luci and si.
Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: STFC4LIFE on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 23:21:31 Just never, ever, ever spend it at Club Ice.
I can honestly say, I learned that the place is shit, haven't been since. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: sonic youth on Thursday, November 27, 2008, 23:57:36 i've never had a good NYE. that will probably change this year.
Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, November 28, 2008, 00:17:32 Where did you decide on Youth?
I think I'm going to a Mexican themed house party. I better check before getting my ace costume though. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: flammableBen on Friday, November 28, 2008, 00:40:55 I think some of my old uni mates want to meet up and go out in Bristol. Which will go something along the lines of meeting for a drink. Realising we have fuck all to talk about despite not all seeing each other for ages. Going somewhere loud so we don't have to even try. Me and Ally deciding it's all bollocks and going back to his and cracking into the white ace. Everyone else having drama.
Actually I'm not sure I'll be able to make it anyway so i might dodge that one. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: yeo on Friday, November 28, 2008, 07:20:09 I hate it.
Im going to a Wurzels night this year 8) Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: herthab on Friday, November 28, 2008, 07:47:19 This will be the first time I've been on the piss on New Years Eve for years (I'm normally driving to football on New Years Day and didn't want to risk it)
The village I live in usually congregate in the square at midnight (And I mean everyone) and it's supposed to be a good night. No fancy dress though.......... Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Tails on Friday, November 28, 2008, 08:03:25 I think I'm going down to Southampton this year, I've got a few friends at Uni down there and a couple of others in Bournemouth so it makes sense really!

Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Luci on Friday, November 28, 2008, 08:46:40 I did a NYE in Sydney at the harbour, it was a little disappointing. Far too busy to have any fun. Agree mate. Fireworks were incredible but having to queue at 11am in the searing heat to get into the parks around the harbour was a nightmare. Mex's club was actually quite a good night, apart from having to blow up shit loads of balloons! Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Friday, November 28, 2008, 08:47:05 we are doing wizard of oz theme this year, i got my outfit yesterday, im the mayor of emerald city. i basically look like a gay green adam ant.

Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: DMR on Friday, November 28, 2008, 16:24:52 I fucking love NYE. We've all been saving the pennies for the last few weeks. I'm hitting Oceana in Cardiff with 200 quid and a shit load of coke.
Gonna be lush. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: sonic youth on Friday, November 28, 2008, 16:26:27 i hope you get busted for drugs.

Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, November 28, 2008, 16:34:25 I think I am too old for a club this year, probably be in bed by 9 That only happens to you when you've kids.....2010 then. I've always been a bit suspicious of the must have a good time because of the calendar, approach to life....preferring the have a good time because I feel like it approach to things. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, November 28, 2008, 19:15:55 haha the ring master was quite good, you loved poncing about in that top hat and tails! You loved the whip didn't you Luci! Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, November 28, 2008, 19:19:29 I tend to have a quiet night in on New Years and watch Jools Holland.
Last year we were in a shared house in Durham and one of them was escorted back by a friend at about a quarter to midnight... The friend left her in the bathroom and the countdown involved us listening to her loudly puking. She was a classy lady. Title: Re: New Years Eve parties Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, November 28, 2008, 19:31:05 You still would though
