Title: thugery 1 Innocence 0
Post by: trogladite on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 09:28:25
Other than my morgage, I've never done credit. I want something? I save and buy it.
As a low wage earner, it's taken me nearly 15 years to buy a 2 year old car.
Last night driving through Whitworth Road (seperates Penhill and Pinehurst)  When a gang of council children/thugs/bullies/vandals, low life scum threw an egg and damaged my nearside rear door.
Now I don't know what the cost will be to me but it wont be put right in the next 12 months.

Now I'm not looking for your sympathy but I ask the question why were these children/teenagers out on the streets at 10pm?  No parental control.  Step up a gear, breakdown in society.  What next for those kids? Mug an old lady, snap the spine of a toddler.  Somebodys pride and joy is a little shit.

That's bad, what damage did an egg do then?  I drive down there all the time, if some little bast threw something at my car I'd be majorly peeved off.

What and damage the front of my new car as well.  At that rate it would take me another five years to put it right.  It did cross my mind though.

Let the punishment fit the crime.
There's a saying I havn't heard since the sixties.  :eatkf:

Tis a shit thing to happen for sure. I guess you could make a claim if you are fully comp, but then I don't know your insurance situation or how much you'd lose of your NCD.

I'd report it, I know it won't change anything but next time it happens to someone else maybe the police will take it seriously.

FWIW, the 10pm bit I agree with. But I remember being questioned by police as a nipper after the kids down the road were throwing stones at cars. I guess unruly children and couldn't care less parents aren't a new phenomenon.

Crack a whip on their backsides, capital punishment shell never be brought back though.  But something should be done to stop these thugs from having free range to thrive in their criminal eggstacy.

Back in the sixties I was pulled in by the cops.  They were looking for someone of the same name.  It frightened me at the time but now I guess I'de laugh in their face.
I've got decades of no claims, I'm not going to throw that away

When I was living in Richmond I went for dinner one Friday night, walking home with the other half at the reasonable hour of 10 pm and we both got thwacked on the back by something...  Oh yes, it was a couple of eggs chucked from a passing car.  Cold and stinky 20 min walk home followed, and then I had to spend the rest of my Friday night at home doing washing.  I was so angry, the bastards were lucky I couldn't see anything to throw as I would have chucked anything at that point.

It did actually hurt a bit and I had a bruise on my back, so one should never underestimate the damage caused by the humble egg.

Manchester Pinehurst, probably not.  But we are talking the same kind of person.  Somebody that would live their whole life and not do a good turn for anybody. Bring sadness and sorrow were ever they go.

I've done some drive by eggings in my time... A friend once threw his shit at someone in Old Town from my car. And yes, you read that right.

I do despair at the state our our society, but i used to do it, so things can't have changed that much.

I used to get up to some silly things when I was a kid, and a lot more silly things when I should have been old enough to know better, I'm even not averse to a bit of silliness now. Shame on me.

I wouldn't want to be a kiddy now though, I think they get a much harder time than they did 10-15 years ago. Your 11-17 year old is only just behind your immigrant and gypsy in the who to blame everything on media portrayal.

Oh indeed, i'm completely with you on this, these things do my fucking head in, but i was trying to avoid calling the kettle black, you know? Your story enraged me, because i'm the same, i've never in my life been in any debt, not even an overdraft. I have always understood that if you can't afford it, don't buy it. SO i've always worked hard, or not if the truth be known, and saved up.

All i was trying to say was I can just see why they do it. No doubt it's to do with immaturity, childishness, boredom and fun. It's not a good thing, it's just something to pass the time, because at that age consideration is not at the forefront of your mind.

For what it's worth, it was about 13 years ago when i had some experience in eggings. I'm an adult now and our country annoys the fuck out of me.

Well it's not harmless fun.  As I said at the beginning.  I'm a low wage earner to put this damage right is going to cost me.
Because I've lived my life LARGELY without credit this is going to take some time and effort to put right.

A mate quite rightly pointed out that it might be covered by the cost of the second part of my season ticket.  What a quandry.  Forget football until August or a spray job.

I automatically thought a claim blew your no claims.  I'll look into it.

The season ticket bit was hot air.  Football will always take precedence.

Talking of football is the kiddies playinf tonight? if so what time and HOW MUCH?

Do a good turn and make some juveniles laugh is 2 different things.

Do a good turn,

Take an elderly gentleman to his docs appointment at GWH

Call out after someone when they've dropped a five pound note

Stop and help someone change a wheel on their car.

Not life saving actions but little things that make other peoples lives a little easier. None of the above cost me a penny but I felt better for doing them.

Or I could get afew friends together and throw a brick through your window, only it wouldn't make my friends laugh and there lies the rub.

Okay, I think I've got this one.

Do a good turn and make some juveniles laugh is 2 different things.

Do a good turn,

Turn. What can you turn? It could be a record, but the Hifi cabinet has already gone so we know it's not that. You could turn over a new leaf. Leaves grow on trees, trees can be found in gardens. Maybe it's garden furniture?

Take an elderly gentleman to his docs appointment at GWH

Call out after someone when they've dropped a five pound note

Note. A musical note? Again you might think record player, but the Hifi cabinet has gone. Maybe it could be a musical instrument. Five pound. That's 2 pounds short of half a stone. Stone. Bit like a pebble. Pebbles are found on beaches. A holiday, perhaps.

Stop and help someone change a wheel on their car.

Not life saving actions but little things that make other peoples lives a little easier. None of the above cost me a penny but I felt better for doing them.

Stop. That's a song by Sam Brown. Help. that's a song by the Beatles. But the Hifi cabinet has already gone. A wheel on their car. Wheels are found on cars, and cars are cars. Could it be a car? Little things that make other peoples lives a little easier. What makes peoples lives easier? Money? Coffee maker? Blender?

Or I could get afew friends together and throw a brick through your window, only it wouldn't make my friends laugh and there lies the rub.

Get a few friends together. When do friends get together? Parties? What do people do at parties? Drink? sit on the stairs? Go home, cry and want to die? Throw a brick through your window. When do people throw bricks? At a riot? Why do people riot? To revolt against the man? Revolution? Wheels revolve, wheels on a car. Viva la revolution! Yes that's right it's the star prize a nearly new Vauxhall Viva!

Am I right?
