All i have had all weekend off about 15 mates is abuse for losing to Histon. They all support Man utd , Arsenal etc.

They must of been to a combined 20 fucking games in their lives. I hate plastic wankers

what annoys me is our fans that turn out only for the big games, I've got mates who have turnded down free tickets to watch us but all will go to Leeds game and if we ever got to jpt or play off final

I think back to the result against Man Utd at home in the Premier. Got back to the Social Club in the evening to be met with the usual ' I heard you kicked us off the pitch!'.
What a bunch of cunts.........i really lost it and waded into them about never watching their team, no connection to the club, etc etc.
One of the tossers even told me he as a massive fan as he had a signed shirt by George Best on his wall!!!!!!!!! Idiot.........

They are casual supporters not fans. Not having a go at them really, but you are either hooked on STFC and go as often as you can, or you aren't. They aren't.

Some of the pox fans here are taking the piss. I jsut remind them that they lost there 3-0! Oh and that Histon are above them in the league anyhow.

Don't tar all fans with the same brush batch....there are fans, under different cirumstances, in distant times would go regularly home and away. However, times, priorities and cirumstances changes, and fans have to pick and choose their games. Naturally they wil pick the bigger ones. Even if they do pick and choose games they are still choosing to watch Swindon as opposed to staying at home and watching premiership on tv. Dont be too harsh.
Save you angst for the original topic here, namely plastic wank fans who think buying and replcia shirt and watching live games on tv constitues being a fan.
When such people talk of 'their' team using the word 'we', e.g. it makes my physically ill..

I will take criticism from any supporter who goes and watches his team, be he Oxford, Reading, Man U, Chelsea etc etc ... for those who sit in the pub and only watch Premiership games and think they are an authority on all football be it in non-league, Division One/Two, I ask them this simple question: name me 10 players from that division and they all fall flat on their face, some of them find it hard to name 10 teams.
This always ends the pisstake and it is shut up time for the armchair fan.

Plastic fans used to bother me loads, but at the end of the day football is about entertainment. If people don't like sitting in the cold rain watching what quite often turns out to be a pile of shit, but quite enjoy sitting in a warm pub looking at the tellybox and letting the punditmen tell them what to think about the game then fair enough.

I suppose the theory is that you ultimately get more of a reward out of the "proper" support, fuck knows if that's true though.

Oh apart from fucking liverpool fans. I might have mellowed a bit towards the other prem armchairs, but Liverpool fans still tend to be so far up their own fucking arses it's unbelievable.

The expense of watching Premier and even getting a ticket at some grounds is very hard to afford and to obtain for the average person in the street, so yes if they want to watch the tele then fine.
Armchair fans just stop trying to preach that you know about Division One and that Leicester, Leeds and Franchise look certs for promotion and Swindon look doomed for relegation.
Really: Who plays for Leeds then that makes them so special?

Funnily enough though, the Yeovil fans I know, who go to the games and support their team, were no where near as bad about it as the glory hunting twats who go to my local in their Man Utd/Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea shirts and tell me they never miss a game when their teams on Sky.

every team has hangers on,glory hunters,those that never go to matches,those that cannot afford to go as much as they like,hardcore every week fans,etc,etc,i dont think the word plastic is a fair one really as i expect some of those taking the piss love their prem team as much as we love the town.

 as a kid in primary school i was crazy about liverpool.they were the best side and i suppose i was a glory hunter just like the kids in chelsea kits today are.soon as i went to the county ground though that was it, i was town,and thats how it will always be.
i went all over the country watching us and was gutted if i ever missed a game.i dont feel like that anymore.i aint been to an away game for over 2 years and it doesn't bother me.same as if i miss a home game.
i'm still a regular at the county ground and miss probably 4-5 matches at home a season.
alot of the kids who supported liverpool like me still do today.that to me makes them a fan of that club.alot of my mates support prem clubs and they have since i have known them.i'd say between them they attend 10 games a season,but they still are fans in my opinion.

Oddly, despite usually taking loads of abuse off my mates when we lose, I've not heard a peep out of them this week. Might get it when I see them thursday for football.

I don't mind people classing themselves as fans of any club, it's up to the individual I suppose. But I do have a fucking big problem with them taking the piss out of me when Swindon lose. (Like they know fuck all about any football outside of the top flight)

I'm not just a fan, I support my club. How can you support a team from the comfort of the pub/armchair.

I have a real issue with some people i know who have lived in Swindon their whole lives, support one of the big 4, have never been to a game and have the audacity to take the piss out of me for supporting swindon.

On the other hand I have some mates who support big clubs and go to a few games a season when time / money / ticket availablity allows. I dont really have a problem with them, they are willing to make the effort and expense to support their team and thats fair enough.  If it didnt cost them £100 to get to a game then they'd go more often. They generally think of Swindon as their second team and want them to do well. they come to the odd game every season.

Its the swindonians who want STFC to fail whilst never getting off their arses to support their club that get me.

If you just say yeah we were shit and deserved to lose, can't believe I wasted a day going up there watching that shit, they soon shut up as they realise you had to put in a bit of effort to go and watch your team.

If they don't shut up then they're just being a cunt so you just have to be more inventive with your retorts, or do something to get them back which will amuse others. It's all part of being a football fan.

I just remember that I'm a superior human being to them. That usually is enough for me to not resort to a slanging match.

Ah the advantages of living in the North East - the local fans are in their own bubble and everyone I work with dislikes football. I've been able to avoid banter. DMR is right, I'd also be laughing if this happened to others.

However, I loathe the plastics. I know I shouldn't be bothered by them but I am.

My flatmate supports Liverpool but when they're on tele he never watches the whole game. Maybe that's what too much coverage does? He also constantly bemoans anything that happens to them from falling behind to a poor decision - I always think to myself that these folks don't even know what football stress is! Oh No - a top 4 finish - Oh No a European cup run. OH NO!!!

Also what baffles is how sucked in lower league fans get. Last night a Peterborough fan was on (the ever atrocious) "Spoony"'s 6-0-6. He said he was happy with the late win but then spent the next 5 minutes talking about the Premiership instead of his own team.

I've given up caring really, although I did get a bit pissy in the Pub during the recent Liverpool/Chelsea game as all the local 'Diehard' scousers leapt about doing the 'Oi Loves Liverpool Oi does' thing in their best Wiltshire accent.

What I'd really like to know is what the Scouse Liverpool fans, and the Mancunian United fans (if there are any) think of the legion of plastics from 100's of miles away? Do they think of them as fellow fans, or stupid arseholes, or something in between? If I could find one shred of evidence that they are disliked by the clubs real supporters it would somehow make me much happier.

I'm almost certain that many local Liverpool fans dislike the plastics. I'm sure I've read stuff about it.

Back to the origianal point, I also get slightly annoyed when I think that if we got to the JPT final, or a playoff final, we would take a huge number of fans to Wembley, when they could quite easily turn up on a regular basis to the league games.

The only time it annoys me is when people that are 100% committed to the club whether it's going every week or sitting by a radio can't get a ticket because a family of Wiltshire Liverpool fans get the tickets for a 'day out' to Wembley.
