they could have done it properly and got fans to nominate goals.instead they came up with only 6, and some should not even be in the reckoning.cox's for instance is nowhere near good enough.
no sam parkin,duncan shearer,don rogers,jan fjortoft,etc,etc,etc.

my pick would be shearers half volley from about 40 yards away to west brom.diggers booted it,shearer let it bounce once then hit a feirce volley into the net at about waist height.

Best goal I can remember was Dave Mitchell v Watford (may have been in the cup)

A sweeping move, long crossfield ball to Shearer, first time cross and a diving header.

Jan Aage curling in a beauty against Millwall in the League cup was a good'n. I think I liked that one a lot because the replay on the telly from behind the goal showed just how little a chance the keeper stood. Plus it was part of the reason we got to the semi-finals. Cup runs are ace.

Of course there is the cracker Invincibile scored to keep us up against Peterborough. Proper Roy of the Rovers stuff.

Gurney's free kick against Leeds was quality. Bit like Carlos, especially the fact he couldn't ever do it again despite trying three million times.

Fallon's cheeky overhead kick against Brizzle probably wasn't the best, but just when it looked like we wouldn't get anything from the game he pops up and does that in front of a decent sized crowd.

Apart from it didn't really keep us up straight away. We still needed Rovers to lose to Wycombe midweek. Which always takes the edge off it a bit for me. Was still fucking ace at the time though.

For me it will be Rory Fallons over head kick. The way he controlled it on his chest from about 10ft in the air and then did an overhead volley all in the same movement. Also the fact it was a top of the table clash in front of a sell out crowd against the Slave Traders.

In recent times Fallon's goal wins hands down for me. I remember going totally fucking mental when that went in. Same with Invincible's goal of course.

Hoddle's goal against Sunderland was a beauty, but my favourite team goal was Hoddle's goal in the '93 play-off final against Leicester, where it was rolled out from Fraser, and the ball was passed bisecting all all the Leicester players to Craig Maskell, whose back-heel set up Hoddle...and the rest is history.

Another goal forgotten about is Steve Foley's volley from the edge of the Blackburn box in the '90 play-off semi-final.

Also, Turbo's second goal in our last win at the Manor. Great volley.

John Trollope on the overlap against Watford-our big rivals in those days-scoring from about 25 yards in the Stratton Bank end in 1970.I think it was his first ever goal.Ken Stroud against Everton in the FA Cup was a bit special nd also John Moncur at Anfield was a terrific team goal.Shearer scored a blinding half-buddy from about 35 yards against WBA in the League cup about 90/91

 Trolly was good for a couple most seasons...occasionally 3, he'd scored in a 2-1 win at Bramall Lane a few weeks earlier.

 This is a crap vote...Tommy Henderson's 1st STFC goal at the Manor is nowhere to be seen.

 My vote for best disallowed goal ever, goes to Paul Rideout's 30 yard strike v Hull on debut, disallowed as someone had strayed off as the ball whistled past them on the way to goal.

the best disallowed one has to be Kevin Watsons one vs Tranmere, which I guess technically wasnt disallowed but it didnt stand in the end.

Great team goal for me was Horlock against Southampton in the cup, brilliant 1 touch football.

Gonna throw some off the woodwork action here now with Leitch against Sheff Utd when Ndah scored that great scissor-kick.  That would have been some goal, the keeper was totally beaten.

Steve Robinson has to come to mind, just because of who it was against!!

People go on about that goal, but for me the Parkin goal was better. The build up and finish was like a fridge full of beer and a cupboard full of brie.

Igoe's pass was quality for that goal. Can't believe we didn't get promoted with that team.

The one touch passing movement was fucking awesome. We tore Leeds to absolute peices for a fair few spells in that game.

If only we'd had a decent manager hey... Although that was easily the best football I've seen at the County Ground since we pissed all over Division 2 in 95/96. Apart from maybe the brief stint we had at the top of Division One, but the collapse that followed kinda makes me want to forget that.

I seem to remember a Jimmy Quinn scissor kick past the then England keeper Shilton vs Derby in the Cup at the CG. Hockaday scored from the touchline in the same game...

Dissallowed goals, can't remember which one but Bobby Barnes had 2 dissalowed in the same game vs West Brom, think one of them was a skinning run past half the team, no idea why it was chalked off.

Talking of walters, how about his goal against West Brom at the CG from 35-40yds out, with the wind behind him. That was the game where a couple of Baggies fans had to go off to hospital, allegedly, with hypothermia !!

Agreed - cracking goal - probably my favourite, brilliant build up and against the legend that is David James as well.
Fjortofts v Millwall would run it a close second.
I was right behind the goal when Stroud wacked in that goal v Everton. He scored a few like that.
I also think they've chosen the wrong Calderwood goal - he got a better one up at Nots County one year.
And any goal v the Scummers is a good goal.

For some reason it's slipped through the work's filter. Watching the Parkin goal vs Leeds hs cheered me up no end. Not only could that midfield pass, but it had positional awareness and movement. Hopefully Danny can bring some of that back!
