Title: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: DV on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:10:54 Adi Boothroyd sacked by Watford, dropping likes flies now these managers.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:12:41 Interesting... Boothroyd was the next best thing not so long ago.
Watford are on a bit of a spiral now though. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: DV on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:13:38 Think they are a bit fucked off the field arent they?
So thats QPR, Watford & Carlisle all looking for managers. I wonder if Holloyway will turn up at any of their grounds Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:15:23 I can see Boothroyd going to QPR or even Charlton when Pardew is effectly sacked aka leaves by mutual consent.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: suttonred on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:31:15 Says in the papers up here Charlton cant afford to pay Pardew off, still has 18 months left.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:33:23 Says in the papers up here Charlton cant afford to pay Pardew off, still has 18 months left. QPR it is then. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: STFC_Gazza on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:42:35 I am surprised Calderwood is still at Forest.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, November 3, 2008, 18:45:17 One wonders if Watford's season might have been different had Reading not been awarded the "goal" that wasn't
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: tans on Monday, November 3, 2008, 19:26:06 Bothroyd to swindon..
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Bogus Dave on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 10:23:26 Stan ternant has left huddersfield
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Tails on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 12:27:10 Boothroyd to Huddersfield.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 12:38:18 So that's three who've beaten us quite easily, have sacked their manager.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Tails on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 12:48:48 Apparenty Kenny Jackett is being lined up by Watford.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 13:20:39 This is getting silly now. I'm glad we kept Malpas.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 13:57:35 boothroyds recent results have been poor.that said he has lost a few of his better players.
did a fantastic job there for a while and i'm sure will get another job pronto Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 14:00:11 Didn't Elton John get involved at one stage more recently and criticised the board and backed Bothryd
I'm sure that Poyet will end up at one of the mangerless clubs, wouldn't surprise me if it is QPR Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: STFC_Gazza on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 18:46:58 You almost have to say fair play to Fitton for sticking by his own man really.... and he has started to turn it around!
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: dell boy on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 19:31:08 You almost have to say fair play to Fitton for sticking by his own man really.... and he has started to turn it around! Or Fitton, looks what's out there Calderwood and Malpas can not be far from the chop, Malpas or Pardew, who would you want?Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: RobertT on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 19:39:18 boothroyds recent results have been poor.that said he has lost a few of his better players. did a fantastic job there for a while and i'm sure will get another job pronto His problem was his reliance on one way of playing and a basic system. It worked with the right group of players and while other teams weren't used to it (see Stoke in a few season, wouldn't mind betting they get the same problem), but once the money ran dry and players moved on, he struggled. He tried changing things but clearly was far too geared to one formula. Ardiles had the same problem at Spurs. He carried on with the same set-up he used here and after a while people worked it out, never adjusted and waved goodbye. It's why Fergie has lasted so long I think, because he's built a couple of teams with different styles, formations etc. He adapts, bastard. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 19:39:43 Or Fitton, looks what's out there Calderwood and Malpas can not be far from the chop, Malpas or Pardew, who would you want? What a pointless comment. Just for that I'm going to say Malpas over any of them, anyday. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: dell boy on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 19:44:13 What a pointless comment. Just for that I'm going to say Malpas over any of them, anyday. I'm a pointless person so it doesn't worry me what you think. Malpas or Pardew? So my pointless view being Pardew every day of the week, every day of the year. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 19:53:34 Didn't Elton John get involved at one stage more recently and criticised the board and backed Bothryd I'm sure that Poyet will end up at one of the mangerless clubs, wouldn't surprise me if it is QPR You may well be right, but I noticed a pointless thing the other day, namely there are only 7 foreign managers working in the 92 clubs....for the purposes of this argument Irishmen are regarded as non foreign. 4 in the prem Scolari, Benitez, Wenger and Zola. 2 in the CCC Martinez and Poortvliet 1 in L1 di Matteo. My point being that, current trends tend to be away from foreigners. How many English/British chairmen are there in the Premier, just out of interest? Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: STFC_Gazza on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 20:01:48 I'm a pointless person so it doesn't worry me what you think. Malpas or Pardew? I've always thought Pardew was incredibly over rated Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 20:16:18 That is quite an amazing statistic, you somehow think there is so many more. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Bushey Boy on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 20:23:01 Sad day for me, he did a great job
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: tans on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 22:07:57 John Ward to Watford on a temp basis....
you heard it here first (not really it was in one of the red tops) Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: STFC Bart on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 22:49:04 Granted, the last 3 results have been a step in the right direction, but Malpas record of 4 wins in 14 is still dire, a win ratio of only 29%.
The improvement must continue over the next month if he is to keep his job- we are only 3 points from the drop zone and many slips may find us in there. If you are in the bottom 4 at xmas its damn hard to get out Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, 22:53:04 We know it's not good enough, but the guy is making steps forward - he's not getting the sack and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Deal-with-it.

If you are in the bottom 4 at xmas its damn hard to get out Agree that his ratio this has not been impressive but we do seem to have turned a corner. I can only hope that we keep getting results. Downside is that the next 3 League games are Leicester, Wover and Posh which certainly won't be easy. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 00:00:11 We only had 5 wins this time last year. The difference is we were harder to beat. Long way to go for Malpas and the team, hopefully they can improve each game.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: DV on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 02:23:31 I'm a pointless person so it doesn't worry me what you think. Malpas or Pardew? So my pointless view being Pardew every day of the week, every day of the year. Well if we're just picking managers we want I'll have Mourinho. We need to be realistic here, there is no way in hell Alan Pardew would even become Swindon boss, so there is no point even asking the question because its never going to be a direct choice between the two. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: herthab on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 07:59:00 Granted, the last 3 results have been a step in the right direction, but Malpas record of 4 wins in 14 is still dire, a win ratio of only 29%. If you are in the bottom 4 at xmas its damn hard to get out "And our next Mastermind contestant. Your name?" "STFC Bart." "And your chosen subject?" "Spouting the same repetitive, mind numbingly obvious comments, again and again and again and again and again and again............." "STFC Bart, you have two minutes to bore the shit out of everyone, starting now." I can only hope that we keep getting results. Downside is that the next 3 League games are Leicester, Wover and Posh which certainly won't be easy. Yup. The next month will be a real test of whether we've genuinely turned a corner or if it's just a 3 game flash in the pan. I'm not even sure what kind of points target would convince me of that - I think it's more the nature of the performances tbhTitle: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Dozno9 on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 09:51:07 I think the performances and points come hand in hand. When we have played well we have taken points. I would be suprised that a decent showing would not generate any points.
Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: pauld on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 10:05:05 I think the performances and points come hand in hand. When we have played well we have taken points. I would be suprised that a decent showing would not generate any points. Well I wasn't thinking so much of zero points over that period - clearly that would show something was wrong. More thinking about the scenario where we play well but lose/draw against strong sides - I'm thinking of Leicester and Posh here, not WoversTitle: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: herthab on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 10:26:50 Tbf Steve what he has said is true. Yes mate. But it is also obvious and repetitive. Title: Re: Another One Bites the Dust Post by: Dozno9 on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 10:41:58 Well I wasn't thinking so much of zero points over that period - clearly that would show something was wrong. More thinking about the scenario where we play well but lose/draw against strong sides - I'm thinking of Leicester and Posh here, not Wovers Given the recent performances I am quite hopeful of a decent haul from the next few games, what worries me though is we play some tricky games between now and the Crewe game and a poor run will put us back to 5 games ago. |
