So far, 2 away hat-tricks in one season. Has that ever been done before by a Swindon player?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this kid is way better than Sam Parkin ever was.

Whatever we sell him for is more to do with market forces than whether Malpas or Fitton have the stomach for it. Don't kid yourself, we are a selling club anyway... but he is a mint player isn't he?

I wonder now if there has ever been a player to score 2 away hat-tricks in one season? Never mind in the space of just 3 away league games...

I'm thinking Coxy is the first player since Bill Stephens in 46/47 to score 2 away league hat tricks in the same season, although I haven't checked it.
  Dennis (Bullets) Brown scored 2 in successive seasons, which is rare enough....his 4 at Bormuff, a fond memory as I was there. We sold him soon after...

Lets be honest, Cox is too good for us. I can't see him being here next season, I'd be surprised if he was here after January.

His only weakness seems to be a bit of pace, not that he is slow and a bit of consistency, still misses a few he shouldn't.

But 14 goals by Nov 2nd, wow!

Gazza, AF has already said we'll need to sell someone, in an ideal world, we'd be back to the days when we could sell a full back like Kerslake King or Bodin, but aside from Morrison, who might attract a Tozer, Lukas type deal, namely a small sum upfront then something based on appearances, Cox is our only asset.

 The aim must be to maximise the $, Maynard cost the shitheads 2mill+ for 32 goals in 54 games....Cox has gotto be in that sort of bracket.

Cox is way better than Sam Parkin, and then some. His pre-season goal against Fenerbahce will have alerted the brighter scouts and managers in the FL and the Prem to his talents. His form, goals and general attitude since then will have alerted the minnows and wannabees. No fucking way he'll be with us after January.

I say again; if we get less than £2m for him when the bigger clubs come in, we'll be regarded as a selling club with no bollocks for a promotion fight. When he goes, I hope Malpas and Fitton have a suitable candicate lined up to replace him.

I can't see us selling him in January, unless he throws a strop and wants away. By the same token, I can't see anyway he'll be with us for next season.

I'd think it's in his interest to boost his prospects with a 25-30 goal season at this level, which would increase his reputation from a consistency aspect.

I heard Cox is off to Sparta Prague in January, loan till the end of the season with a view to the club selling him at the end of the season.

I'm more concerned about the continuing doom mongering to be honest. Malpas is slowly turning it around so we have to turn our attentions to a comment our chairman made about selling players and running with it... Even though he probably meant younger players to Premiership academy teams/reserves.

Why can't we enjoy one thing without instantly thinking of a negative? Every team in the Football League has a player that "will go in January" - until then, lets just enjoy the fact that he's a good footballer and playing for us!

I never actually thought Lukas looked as if he would light the world on fire.

My view is how do you get things write off the pitch....dead easy by getting things write on the pitch,if Fitton and co are serious about getting this club up to the championship then dont sell your best players....oh and they are

If Cox is reasured we will get a few assets that will turn his hat tricks into points that take us up...why would he leave?

I think we'll sell him in January is if he throws a strop and starts requesting a move. If it gets to the point where he's publicly stating that he wants to go, then I think we'll give in sooner rather than later. Not sure it's too much of an unlikely scenario come transfer window time either.

If he does go a replacement isn't going to be easy to find, and not just as a dig at Malpas. Even with some recycled transfer cash to spend, January isn't ideal if you're looking for someone on form. Not sure Swindon have the signing power to reciprocate a cox leaving scenario with a top scorer from a league two club.

Exactly leefer if they are serious in getting to the CCC in 3 years (which was stated) selling your best players is not the way to do it.

SIMON Cox has assured his adoring Swindon Town fans he is in it for the long haul at the County Ground, after rumours linking him with a move away from the Wiltshire club.

The striker, pictured below, has been a revelation since his permanent switch from M4 rivals Reading in January, with 14 goals to his name already this campaign.

Saturday’s hat-trick at League One leaders Scunthorpe prompted fresh speculation Cox could soon be snapped up, but the 21-year-old insists he has no desire to leave.

“I will stay at Swindon Town as long as I am allowed to stay,” Cox told the Advertiser.

“If I am offered a new contract at the end of my current one I would be happy to stay at Swindon.

“I know I will get a fair crack of the whip here and I am really enjoying my football.

“For me that’s the most important thing.

“The only time I would leave is if somebody put in a ridiculous offer and Swindon agreed it was the best thing for them as a club.

“That would be the only reason I would leave, not because I want to.”

Town boss Maurice Malpas stated on Tuesday he would sell Cox “over my dead body,” as he looks to hang onto his star asset.

The player admits his current goalscoring form could attract interest from Championship clubs, but Cox is determined to reach the second tier of English football with his current employers.

“If a bid does come in then that’s out of my hands,” said the League One PFA Player of the Month.

“Whatever happens is down to Swindon Town and anyone that might come in for me.

“If I was to leave and go to a club with the same amount of strikers as Swindon, I could be bottom of the list. That would be going back to the same situation I had at Reading, and I don’t want that.

“It’s never 100 per cent sure that you will be starting, but at least here I am playing regular football.

“We seem to have turned the corner lately and hopefully we can keep moving forward as a team and as a club. If we keep doing that, hopefully better times are ahead and one day we will be in the Championship.”

Cox has now turned his attention to gunning down non-league Histon in Saturday’s FA Cup opener, though he admits he may need a little help from his friends.

“I might be a marked man on Saturday, but that will probably be a good thing for the team,” he said.

“If two or three players are closing me down that gives more space to Billy and the other boys.

“We have plenty of players in the team who can hurt Histon, but we have to match them for effort. If we do that we should have enough quality to come through.”
