.....anybody who read my ramblings on the comebacks thread may have seen a reference to the above list...I've found it  :), but it needs a bit of tidying up, tea stains that sort of thing.

 There's nothing on dates, home or away , scores etc and only a bit on TV channels, and I've no idea when I did it, only that it's pre TEF and thisis golden age, so needs some additions.

 I'll post up the list as it stands, there might be some sad busybodies, who fancy tinkering with it....or maybe not.

 Up until the probably late 80's. the only live football was teh cup final  and interrnationals.

 There is the debate about UC Sampdoria v STFC on Grandstand in 71, but it may have only been th second half.

 That's what I tend to think for dating, but I just scribbled down the list, so may not be right, if someone can recall another Brighton game.

  Now a lot of these games are well known for dates scores etc, but there are a good ferw  I've no recall of at all.

 So....one Palace game we lost 4-2 at the CG...can't remember another.

 Can Only remember 1 Derby game where we lost 4-2 0r 4-3 at the CG

 QPR away may have been FA Cup....with Mitchell marking Sir Les due to injury.

 Were both legs of Tranny on teh box or just one?

  Two Bristol City games....I remember the 3-2 defeat at Trashton, was another when lee Peacock smashed in a 30 yard free kick?  This should then be made up to 3 with the Iffy in charge Friday night win.

Assuming you mean the LC semi, the first game was on terrestrial. The second (away) game was definitely NOT. I don't think it was on Sky either.

But I do recall the Intel giving wanker John McGinley a rousing 'waaaaaaaaaaaannnnnker'  a season or two after. I think this was on TV (Central). We lost IIRC (I'll check it out).

The one I am thinking of could only have been the a 1-0 loss on Wednesday, April 05, 1995. I can't find confirmation it was on TV so maybe I am going senile. I mean, I recall it was a Saturday or Sunday and a higher margin of defeat. Where did McGinley go after Bolton.

west ham was a 3-1 defeat in 92/93 on itv

 Was that the game when McMug got a red, and that cunt McAteer scored in teh last minute?  A lot of these games it's best to try and forget.....if you're at teh game, it doesn't really matter if it's on TV anyway...the away games tend to be the ones I reember especially if it's a win.

For the play off semis, the Sunday home fixture v Tranmere was definitely live on ITV. I don't think the away one was because I ended up listening to it on the radio.

Same with the Bolton League Cup semi-final, I think the first leg was on ITV on the Sunday.

The Port Vale first home match of the 94-95 season was on Central Sports sunday, therefore ITV.

Pretty much anything since 2000 will have been on Sky, apart from Poxford away in the FA Cup 2nd Round in 2002 (?) which was on the BBC.

Yes, but looking it up it was Thompson who got the winner in the 89th. I remember watching an interview with McGinley and he said something on the lines of "it's nice to remembered" in response to the "waaaanker" chant. I also remember thinking this is Robinsons chance to give it a bit back after getting sent off in the LC semi.

But I must be getting confused with the whole TV thing. I think it unlikely given it was a Wednesday.

I remember watching our 5-2 win away at West Brom in March 1995.  Peter Thorne hat-trick.  The victory gave us a glimmer of hope (ultimately, to be dashed) that we might avoid the drop...and was all the sweeter for me and my Swindon supporting buddies because we watched it from a student house just off the Cowley Road in Oxford.  Happy days.

 I'm now thinking we had a 2-2 draw v Bolton at CG...when the wanker scored, Sunday 22nd Dec 96....

No, on Sky in the early days when hardly any one got it. Alternatively, my memory could be shot to bits.

I don't think Sky had TV rights back in 1988, it only started in 1989 (prem rights secures 1992)!

 If we take Chalkie's answer as right re Palace, then we're still short of 2 games v Derby, one v Tranmere and 2 v Wolves.  The Tranny could easily be a mistake...was teh second game v Wolves away in teh LC covered the home game was. Another Derby game could have been the final game of the season in early 90's when they banned travelling fans.

The Coventry one was the away Premiership game wasnt it. 1-1 draw. I remember watching that on TV so well. We were 1-0 down with about 1 minute to go and the cameras fucked up and the picture was lost.

I told my dad we'd scored, he laughed....pictures came back on with Andy Mutch celebrating!!

That game at Coventry was awesome.  It was (I think) an evening game played between Christmas and New Year and the police were completely taken aback by how many of our fans made the trip.  Something like 4,000 of us turned up.

 I think the Wendies game must have been the home game, if only because  the 3-3 away game would be remembered.  Of course, Watson cleaned out Digby at Hillsborough and Hammond at the CG. Both fouls, both off injured and both goals stood.
 
 Which is why Watson got a quz question at the recent CG football quiz.

 I think someone did him a bit later when  playing for Bradford City.

Both games in the LC were covered. The home game saw OOOh Shaun Taylor shove Steve Bull out of play his last act as far as Town was concerned . He was sold to City. Mark Walters was MOM in both games and received a mountain bike for each of them.

But I guess that doesn't answer where the missing Wolves game is, as you got both LC games already!

Wasnt there another LC game. I remember someone winning MotM and they got a red and black coca cola weird football stero thing....although that might have not been Town at all....

There was definitely a game against Derby at the Baseball Ground in the early nineties that was shown on Central. I think it ended 2-2 and Shaun Taylor got at least one of ours. That last game of the season wasn't shown though.

Argue as much as you want Batch - debate is healthy and I'm not 100% sure. I know I watched the game at my mums house so it had to be prior to 1989. I'm pretty sure it was Palace away and we lost 2-0. This was in the days before Sky went big time and Swindon was being used as a test area where you could only receive it via cable.

Reg - this is the kind of crap that keeps me awake at night. Now you've put it on here I've got to know the answers. I can provide some but will have a good look over the weekend. The other Scum one was a 2-2 draw at home where David Penny got a goal for them.

 It would have to be about then, we haven't played Derby too often. Some meetings in teh early 60's and then about 3 seasons worth in the 90's....aside from the LC 69 we've got a ropey old record.  There's never been a 2-2 draw!

On the subject of obscure early Sky games, I think there was a midweek ZDS (or some such) Cup tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge broadcast by the then embryonic media titan.

  So that's 2 Derby games

OK then, In 1989 Sky launched with Sky Channel, Eurosport, Sky Movies and Sky News. BSB and their funky squarial only had 3 channels and launched later. I wasn't aware of any cable TV tests before that launch and I am pretty sure Sky had no football coverage until the early-mid 90's.

I can't believe I am arguing over which channel a game in 1988 was on! :)

Sky had the Conference from the get go, I seem to remember, and as I've mentioned above some of the Noddy Cups of the day as well.

1990 - Sky Sports launched, though they may have used the Sky Channel before that.

I've got most of these games on DVD.... for Wolves, I have three at the start of the 96/97 season - the two league cup games, and the league match on the 27th Sept.

Did Swindon Town never appear on BSB then?  That launched slightly before Sky didn't it?

edit - sky launched before BSB, but BSB had a Sports Channel, which may have showed low profile matches?  Not sure.

We played them away in the LC in 2000-2001 ish, it would have been the league cup then...the game went to extra time.

Reg, Im pretty sure the WHU game was at the end of the 1992/93 season on some ITV regions, just before the play offs. Think West Ham were going for the title, but we were assured of the play offs.

The 3rd Derby game was 94-95 near the start of the season at the county ground. 1-1, we scored early on with Fjortoft (i think) with a shot that may or not have crossed the line, then Kitson equalised about 60 seconds later. That was on ITV, prob central and maybe htv too.

And just remembered, the 2nd Tranmere game was 25th September 1998 at Prenton Park, the first game after McMahon had been sacked. 0-0, Tranmere had a player sent off (mcgreal) for bringing down Cowe who was through on goal.

Sorry, should have put this was on Sky.

Also, i'm sure the Palace Cup match in 89-90 (Zenith Data or whatever it was called) was live on Sky as i've got the whole match on DVD somewhere, and it was tv produced.

i think the Palace game could be, i just got the dvd out to make sure it was on tv, and it was on Sky one in 1990, Andy Gray scored the only game for Palace.

The Wolves game was the last game of 94-95, live on itv (def central anyway), just found the copy. It was 1-1, Kevin Horlock was sent off for handling on the line and Wolves went one up from the penalty, then Peter Thorne scored with a cracking header a minute later from a superb cross from Chris Hamon.

We're missing a Watford game - 26th Feb 1999, when we went there and won 1-0.

You've missed out the Watford one when Howe scored - it was listed in the thread.

The Palace one in the ZDS I remember watching on TV, that was around the time when we beat some good teams in that competition.

It's startling that the 90 final was only extended highlights presented by Malone with numerous Bristol City references.

The Coventry game wasn't supposed to be on Sky, their first choice game was postponed so they put us on instead.  We filled out there away end as I remember.

 Watford done...there may be other errors.

 Of course it was, which means Thorne is our all time leading televised goalscorer.

 Think Ben Worrell played his only game for us.

his only start, think he made one or two sub appearences.

I dont think it was even highlights, of course Reg will put me right on this.

I've got the video of the match, and the commentator was Brian Moore so ITV could have shown highlights the next day.

I was only 1 at the time so can neither confirm or deny this, sure Reg will know as you say.

I still miss Brian Moore's voice on ITV.

Don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but I seem to recall the 5-2 win at West Brom in 94/95 being shown on Central.

 Our overall record in these games is pretty poor to say the least, especially at home.

middle of summer was ace.Unfortunately,as the game went on, we knew we weren't going to qualify

One question.... was the Middlesbrough game in November 1997 (2-1 defeat with Ndah putting us ahead, then Merson & Emerson scoring for Boro) shown live?  I remember it being on TV,  but can't recall if it was live or not.

I've also posted a listing of all the STFC footage that myself and Bedford Red have compiled over the past few seasons.  We're still missing lots of footage from 1999 - 2005 - please get in touch if you have anything from this period, especially the Oxford (away) and Peterborough (home) games from the 2000/01 season.

Certainly a neater list than my effort  :).  Don't think that Boro game was on...but it wasn't an exactly scientific trawl of people's memories, none of the contributors mentioned it
