Bloke I know, about Bushey's age, got engaged early this year. They've postponed any wedding plans because she is now expecting.

Best start thinking things through Bushey.

Got to Bromsgrove.

Have to admit it didnt look calling off weather.

But I know that area is pretty high, was shocked at how much there was when I went to see West Brom v Southampton after our game at Rochdale was called off a few years ago.

End of the day theres not a lot you can do if they call the game off 40 minutes before KO.

Cheers Rich. Oh, and Spence, if it helps, although my window works fine, I had it wound down while I was having a fag, didn't notice the gritting lorry ahead and got a face full of grit. Well, right-hand side of my face anyway.

And I bet I can't make the rearranged game - had to move all sorts to get to this one, including doing a conference call on the M5 on the way up. Bastard Walsall.

I am fucking fuming.....got there at 7 and the young lad on the gate told me it had just been cancelled.....What cunts!

He told me the ref did not believe the ball was bouncing/running right.....his words so not official!.

There was no snow in the entire area - it looked as if there had been some rain as all the tarmac and cars were wet and damp.

I drove up from Calne (leaving at 4-10 ish) it didnt snow at all but did rain a bit.

Why did the Wolves game go ahead???? only about 6 miles away.....

I have now checked the official Walsall site and they state that after several inspections the match was called off at 6-45pm. What sort of time is that to call a fucking match off??

There was no driving snow, fog, rain.....and the temp was about 4c so no chance of the pitch freezing...

I understand that other matches were abandoned but the weather was drifting down on them.

At 6pm i could of gone to see Wolves v Taffy Bastards!! and rescued the evening somewhat...

So my conclusion is thus:

EITHER:

1. The Referee is a complete knob end and pissed about instead of cancelling early.

2. Walsall did not clear the pitch - from what i saw there was a light dusting which could of been cleared piss easy with 5 guys and 5 brooms...I know this can be done as i have done this myself at my local village pitch some years ago. Having said that the pictures looked like it would of cleared itself in ten minutes of football.

It isnt good enough and i will be contacting the Town for their slant on it tomorrow. :guns2:

Once again the loyal faithful that are football fans are shit on again (Walsall fans were pissed off too). :badmood:

Typical , roll over and die!

Not me.......a letter will make me feel better!!.....The club have to represent the fans and i will share the 'nothing to do with us' return letter with you all.

PS - It happened to me years ago on the way to Brum and it was called off at 6pm with the rain pissing down...no complaint...i turned around at Worcester and went home..

Tonight was taking the piss!

Look on the bright side guys, we did get free chip sarnies at The King George.

One thing we all thought last night was, 'where's the snow?' Laughable decision.

Dont know about the state at Walsall, but seeing the Wolves highlights the pitch did look borderline at best, they should have at least started it though and see how it went, that way everyone would have ticket stubs etc and prove that they went for any recompense, seems like common sense hasn't prevailed where fans are concerned again!

Title: Re: Snow - Walsall
Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 09:34:46
Pitch could of been cleared.....Walsall sat on their hands, thinking the game would go ahead.

I went last night and got there at 7pm found the game was off and went to watch Wolves V Swansea. Got in there just in time for kick off, didn't seem to bad to me. (not sure if Wolves got under soil heating?)

It didn't rain or snow for the rest of the evening there. The game could've been played.

oh, I sat/stood in the Wolves singing section, they have more fickle fans than us and seem very quiet when they score.

Given the reports here that there was no snow, I'd make the assumption from this picture that the Walsall groundstaff did fuck all to help the pitch...

Yet another example of what a soft game this really is these days, there's barely a centimetre of snow on that pitch.  Come on whatever happened to "it's a man's game".

Title: Re: Snow - Walsall
Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 12:34:49
Jan - you are right..........Players safety??  Fuck off!

If we all got together we would reinact the 'Four Yorkshire Men' sketch.

" In my day we played in two foot of snow, only had shorts and went 'skins' and if we were'nt three up be alf time, the coach would beat us t'death we'd Tea tray! Back on Sharrar after match for 6 hour trek back to County Ground."

Title: Re: Snow - Walsall
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 12:40:35
"Shorts??  Shorts?  What I'd given for shorts.  One day we played a match on Saturday morning (before we woke up) a match at lunchtime, away at Doncaster, then home match at 3 o clock all in 10 foot high snow drifts, and if we didn't win them all, by 6 goals per match, the manager would send us all to a Stalinist death camp in Siberia, bloody shorts?"

Title: Re: Snow - Walsall
Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 12:52:06
And when we got back, Lou Macari would beat us to sleep with a broken bottle!

The walsall fans said in the pub that part of the reason was safety for the fans slipping off the seats, and them getting home after the game.

Why would people slip off the seats? If people want to stand on slippy seats (which is against the rules anyway) and fall off then surely that is their own stupid fault? I am assuming people wouldn't slip off the seats sitting down.

I think you may have bumped into their notorious firm, the Walsall Windowlickers. Never heard anything so ludicrous in my life, apart from possibly the idea that it wasn't possible to clear that pitch with an hour to go. Or that more than a cursory effort at ground maintenance during the afternoon wouldn't have rendered it completely playable. I'm with the conspiracy theorists on this one.

In fairness it would have been played in the 90's... and I will suspect that games will be played this season in those conditions.

The ground staff made little effort
Walsall had major injuries
Floating fans were going to Wolves instead

We move on...
