Title: windows Post by: yeo on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 10:38:59 I locked myself out and had to smash a window. Its double glazing I phoned a geezer and he said "i'll come and have a look but propbably wont be able to do anything straight away cos its a sealed unit" Erm does that mean he will have to replace the whole window and frame rather than just the glass?
Title: Re: windows Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 10:48:37 No, they can replace just the glass.
'Sealed unit' is just another term for double glazing. The windows don't come in standard sizes so he'll have to order it in, rather than if it were single glaze he could just cut a piece to size. Who did you phone? Title: Re: windows Post by: Bushey Boy on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 10:49:29 Kust the glass, it means its sealed and has to order a art, its about £60 + vat, try complete glazing on 534766 and mention my name get good service mate
Title: Re: windows Post by: ghanimah on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 10:49:36 If you have upvc windows then the sealed glass unit is separate so a new one should just fit back in the frame (as long as you haven't damaged that as well.) with little alteration to the frame itself

Title: Re: windows Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 10:55:29 My father-in-law is a glazier, his company is Doctor Glass. Give him a ring on 854448 and tell him I give you his number and he'll probably do it for cost.
Title: Re: windows Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 11:01:44 Phone Malcolm. He's a Glazer.
Title: Re: windows Post by: Fred Elliot on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 11:05:16 Nah
Give Paul Micheal a bell Title: Re: windows Post by: yeo on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 13:01:14 Cheers for that offer Sam.
The blokey who came round is charging me £145 but that includes a second window thats been broke for a while so it seems fair enough. Weirdly I won £150 playing Paddy Power games last night,in one hand out the other >:( Title: Re: windows Post by: nevillew on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 13:07:14 I'll bet all the computer geeks who opened this thread are disappointed now.
Title: Re: windows Post by: janaage on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 13:11:31 Call my mate Deli, he's not a glazer and it'll confuse the hell out of him, it'll be well funny. Ring him up ask if that's Del, sometimes known as Simon, originally from Calne, went to Bentley then tell him all about your window problem.
If nothing else it'll give him a new idea about setting up his own business. Title: Re: windows Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, October 23, 2008, 13:25:58 Cheers for that offer Sam. It'll only take 10 minutes to replace the two of them anyway. |
