Title: Reserves Tomorrow
Post by: STFC_Gazza on Monday, October 13, 2008, 18:54:27
7pm at the County Ground, free Entry against Cheltenham. Anyone going down there? I think I'll wander down as I have to pick up some train tickets in town anyway. Plus gotta be better than watching the first team at the minute?

We're playing Cheltenham Gazz which means we're more than likely to lose.

Meh well I am in Canada for 2 weekends so be my last fix of Swindon before I go... Gives me an excuse to finally go pick up my train tickets too as I keep finding excuses not to go as I can't be bothered!

I see Malpas is saying that 3 players will definetly play on Sat Cox, Peacock & Jack Smith the rest are fighting for their place in the reserves tonight, credit where it is due though at least he is trying top get the players to play for him

Why the fuck is jack smith in the team? Last two times i've seen him the right winger has tore him a new arsehole both times. He was getting done by danny fucking cadamarteri!!

Will be interesting to see how the players react having being forced to play for the reserves.

They'll probably put a strop on and then have an argument with Byrne after the game.

Something like that... or if they win, someone will no doubt say "they want to play for Williams/Byrne" etc..

I am  off down there now!  ;D

Considering Jack Smith, Cox and Peacock are the only three that actually try to play football I don't find it all that suprising.

Agree luce, there is a difference in smiths case between playing shit or simply being outpaced.

Craig Easton was substituted early in the 2nd half. Wonder if that's to rest him or through injury.

Caught the second half. Cheltenham's goal was a penalty which never should have been. We looked pretty decent at the back, lacked ideas going forward and more often or not the wrong ball was played. Corr's finish was a nice move, but in general I thought he was pretty pants. Joyce looked lively, as did Amankwaah and Casal.

Not very accurate as I was talking most of the time tbh. Allen spent ages talking to Peacock. No sign of Holloway either.

Got back a little while ago.

Nothing special really but was a decent game of football and a home win.

Both teams to me actually looked well up for it which was strange for a reserve match.

Barry Corr looked to get frustrated everytime no one gave the ball to him, Corr hit the cross bar once.

Cheltenham had 2 or 3 on Macca so he wasn't at his best.

Brezovan's kicking is still somewhat suspect but Kanyuka looked good but has only ever had one good first teamgame for us against Luton away last year.

Pook is still dire, tried to tackle but missed his man every time and got the ball taken off of him.

Malpas must want some compo then.

Shit, boring game. A total in first gear game.

Didnt see any Town player put in a 'you must start me on Saturday' performance

Unless he told them that to try and get a reaction from Amankwaah last night. Who knows how Malpas mind works!

Well quite. It's barely a week since we had the "Phil Smith to start at Hereford" exclusive inside info. Although in this instance, it's a move that would make sense - shame it wasn't made 15 minutes in last Saturday

Jack Smith is our best right back. Play him at right back and worry about left back later.

Casal cannot possibly be worse than Amankwah was on saturday. He reminded me of Fola Onion Bahji, but being played out of position.

Im afraid Saturdays game and defeat has pushed me over the edge :(

Ive tried and tried to support MM - aka Mr Magic - but Ive now totally lost the faith and it simply isnt funny anymore.

Im struggling to find anyone who actually wants him now - except for Fitton of course

Casal for Amankwaaaaaah is just shite for shite really

I think last night Casal had a fairly solid game in defence always looking to overlap his man and support and done his defensive duties well enough, to be fair though I think Chelt's front players looked quite toothless didn't cause many problems which helped the defence look good.

It was interesting to see up playing a 4-5-1 in the first half and then reverting to a 4-4-2 / 3-5-2 for the second half, don't think that anyone really impressed enough though to force their way in.
