Title: The Price of Parking at The CG
Post by: dell boy on Monday, October 13, 2008, 09:03:35
£10 to park your car at the CG is so over the top.
The Cricket Ground is only £3 and normally where I park if I arrive early.
In these hard times you would think the Board would taken the initative and drop the price of parking, 100% increase this season was a bit excessive.
It isn't even half full these days and probably shows that the fans from out of the area do not travel like they did just a couple of years ago to watch home games, the good value in the season ticket sales probably masked the car parking prices to most of you local supporters - if like me you travel travel up to a lot of games on your own, I find I am actually paying more to park my car at the ground than watch the match, how silly is that.
Sides like Reading offer a parking permit scheme as part of the season ticket (optional) this makes a lot of sense, I hope the board looks into this for next season.
I know you will say there is a lot of off street parking but for those like me who travel a distance for each game you sometimes do not have the time to find parking places away from the ground.

I thought we had a 'car park season ticket' scheme, and that this had sold out with spaces only available on the day if there where no shows. Must have dreamt it.

Unless you are not very mobile I don't see why you would park at the CG rather than the cricket pitch or a bit further out (for free).

If that is the case then it is the first I've heard of it.
Apart from Leeds the car park is never more than half full.

The reason I do not always park at the Cricket Ground is this, if I get there 15 minutes before kick off, I have to park so far away from the entrance it can take an hour to get out. Off street parking has also all gone by that time as well.
On match days it has taken on occasions over 2 1/2 hours to arrive at the ground because of traffic congestion.

If your only going to get there 15 minutes before kick off and the county ground is your last resort anyway then stop moaning

According to OS:

Quote
The car park on a matchday now is entirely pre-sold as Season Tickets. Occasionally on match days there are a few bays which become available but due to the increased costs of stewarding and policing the charge has increased to £10 per match.

Because things are going wrong on the pitch, is this just a good time to state everything else that ppl aren't happy about either?

Like ppl say, theres plenty of places not far to walk that are cheaper.

I think I'm right by saying that clamping posters/information have to be a certain size (pretty large), and the signs have to be a certain height off the ground so all can read, the happy clampers must also hold and display there security licence (this has cut out a lot of firms using this system). There must also be information throughout the area telling you where to go and read about the clamping laws around the area.

if not capable of using a map and finding the free street parking around the ground then you deserve to pay £10
