Mine just sort of "unclips" from the caddy via a (pushed in so it's flush) tab button. I guess it is possible there are other types of DVD drive, maybe some require you to open the laptop case or something. What laptop make/model is it? Looks like a replacement drive would be about £35 quid http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360042972141&cguid=e6d5faac11c0a0aad266ad06fffe3f12 But you'd have to be confident in what you are doing a) to make suer you get the right drive and b) if you need to open the case to replace as they can be fiddly little buggers. Quite how much they'd charge you to get it done for you is anyone's guess. Undo that/those and you should be able to remove the drive |
