Title: Cox scores goals
Post by: michael on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 17:15:35
Leave a message here if you got Simon Cox at anything more than 30-1 to be top scorer this season.

Me, I did :)

Although, I bottled it and went each way.

If he finishes in the top 4 league scorers then I am good.

I don't think they were referring to the odds you obtained :)

Obviously.

I emptied my Betfair account on some ludicrous bets, but fortunately the more sane were cox at about 40-1 and Lambert at 80-1. I'd love to put all my bets up, but not being a gambler, it'll merely make many see me as a waste of skin and oxygen. Who the fuck lays Leicester for promotion at fuck all odds with an a £8 stake? (i win £11 if they don't get promoted!)

I deserve to be trampled on by fat women in stilettos. Big time.

It could have been worse Barry, you could have done what I did and make every single bet for the season (excepting the Cox one) into a double with "Hull relegated" as the secondary bet.

During my darker hours I give some serious thought to knee-capping Geovanni.

Should've gone with Stoke! Hull could still plummet.

Ah fuck it, if I lose then I will simply chase my losses.

That is how I roll. :)

Okay, yours is worse, but that's with hindsight of course. Pre-season that would have been a fair shout. Anyway, you ain't seen some of my gems.

Swindon to win the league - £5 stake £215 if we win.

Town to be promoted - £26.39 staked to win £219

Mk Dongs to be promoted - £5 stake, win £26 if they do. (Why did i bet on those cunts? And at WANK odds. I hate myself for backing those plastic pricks. Hopefully all my other bets will fail and i'll be praying for dons to go up, then they'll fuck it as i cursed them.)

Leicester or Leeds to not be promoted (Yes i know, another super stupid bet) £8 staked £18 to win. (Seriously, what am i on? This is why i don't gamble!)

Doing off the top of your head might explain why you've credited SSP with 20 league golas in 03/04 when he only scored 19.

Out of interest what happens to your bets on Cox if he get's sold in January to a championship club  - do you lose your money ?

Yep, as his final league one goal tally would be the amount he'd scored when he left us for the Championship. (unless nobody beats it...  ;D)

Id like to think that the business acumen of Fitton and co would ensure he wasn't going anywhere until the end of the season - seeing how important his goals have proven so far.  Alternatively if he goes, I'd rather he went elsewhere in league 1 so my bet still stands :D

What position is he in the top scorers table?

Title: Re: Cox scores goals

Joint 4th with 7 league goals. Lambert on 9, Beckford and Mackail-Smith on 8.

Joint 4th gets me money.
