Title: 30 Million for Sheff Utd?
Post by: leefer on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 09:30:23
An independent tribunal have found in favour of the blades in the case of Tevez,if West Ham had been deducted points Sheff Utd would have stayed up...should be an interesting few months ahead.

That would fuck West Ham up, surely! Zola will walk on false promises and the Championship will beckon.

Sheffield United won't amount to anything more than a failed play-off push this season. I think.

West Ham go to Old Trafford on the final day of the season needing to win to stay up...........low and behold they do and Tevez scores!
Tevez then signs for Manc....?

Am I right in saying that had Sheffield United beaten Wigan it wouldn't have mattered if West Ham won or not? I can't remember.

You're right. Sheffield Utd's fate was in their own hands and they fucked up.

Yeeees, whereas West Ham illegitimately tilted the balance in their own favour, rather than running the risk (as everyone else had to) of having their fate in their own hands. Nail em to the wall.

If they were Shrewsbury they would of been fined, deducted points and made to play home games at Telford!

If they'd have been Swindon they'd have been allowed to go on, win the league before being relegated 2 divisions, back up one on appeal and then down 3 for coming from a rural county.  Then the club would be given to a waiter from the local taverna to fuck up for years to come.

It still hurts.  Cunts.

West Ham will get about 20-30 million from selling Tevez to united at the end of the season.

I dont think West Ham get anything do they? I thought that a third party owned him and that MAn Yoo had to pay that 3rd party NOT West Ham?

Oh and before anyone asks there is no chance of West Ham being relegated and Sheffield United getting back in the Premier League.

 :busted:

Thats an excpetionally badly informed post.

West Ham should have been docked points by the FA. They will have to if this ever happens again.

Where does the £30million figure come from anyway?

Does this open the door for West Ham to be invoiced by every club who Tevez played against, or even every club inconvenienced by the result of a game featuring Tevez?

i think that is the figure Sheff united lost when they got relegated thanks to Dave Unsworth.

Went to see Sheff United at the Emirates last night.........they need every penny.  Arsenal youth were good but they were made to look like Brasil circa 1970!

A Blades fan sat next to me asked me a 4-0 if i had ever seen a team without a clue when they get poccession........i wanted to tell him i knew one but i kept quiet!

Another club ticked off the list!!!!

Would you just "give up" on 30 million quid? I think if I was a Sheffield Utd fan I'd be a bit concerned if the chairman came out and said "We decided to can it, and just, like, move on, yeah?"

But are they really going to get a penny out of west ham? Can't see it happening.

I don't really understand how the tribunal figured the Tevez thing has lost Sheff Utd money. They were shitter than West Ham, Tevez was allowed to play. The issue I guess is whether he should have been allowed to sign for West Ham under that contract in the first place. I thought this had already been dealt with.

Title: Re: 30 Million for Sheff Utd?
Post by: pauld on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, 16:35:27
The tribunal ruled he wasn't eligible to play for West Ham, that he shouldn't have been playing for West Ham and that West Ham had wrongly gained at least 3 points as a result of him playing. Ergo, West Ham should have been relegated had they not gained those points by fielding an ineligible player

Seems stupid to me though. More than one player makes a team. We're not talking about one game, this is a whole season of results.

And the Sheffield United players are greedy cunts. They want a bonus for playing shit in effect.

Agreed, but if you take 3 points off them they get relegated. So it does equate to one game. But I agree that Sheffield Utd had it in their own hands and cocked it up. Ultimately it's the Premier League's fault. They shouldn't have allowed the transfer in the first place and then shouldn't have delayed the decision on it till the end of the season. The original tribunal made it pretty clear the only reason they went for a fine rather than points deduction was because it would be unfair on the fans to dock points so late in the season. Quite apart from the fact that no such criteria seem to have applied to us when we were demoted, the only reason it was so late in the season is because the Premier League sat on their hands for 8 months before calling a tribunal.

Yes, that should be thrown out on its ear straightaway - the knock on effects of that as a precedent could be very worrying. Every season would be like the 2000 US election, we could forget the play-offs, the summer would be spent in court
