Followed by King. Malpas shouldnt be counted yet Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:00:11 colin todd
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Summerof69 on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:02:46 Mike Diamandis (General Manager)
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:03:31 To be fair to Iffy though he was working with pratically both his hands tied behind his back at the time.
Colin Toad has to have a special mention though for realising the job was gonig to be harder than he thought and bailing out Going back slightly further I'd go for McMahon as he managed to not only alienate the fan's in the end but the players as well. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:04:52 You should have asked "have we had a good manager in the last 15 years" as they've all been pretty much dross.

Signed a load of shit then fucked off pretty sharpish.
Wins a special award for paying £300k for the shit that was Gary Alexander. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: chalkies_shorts on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:32:06 It was Colin Todd. Signed a load of shit then fucked off pretty sharpish. Wins a special award for paying £300k for the shit that was Gary Alexander. How about Kim Heisenberg. Alexander looked like Ronaldo compared to him. Colin Todd is a classic example of why Swindon shoould be a Scum free zone. We only paid £150k for Alexander - the second installment was picked up by Hull City. Alexander should also be congratulated for his reaction in front of the Scummers when Robinson scored the 1st at the Manor. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:32:17 5 years?

Just cos I hated the stupid prick Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: janaage on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:35:41 Iffy, without doubt. Clueless in every department. Backroom staff didn't help either tbf.
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:37:41 King. He was a complete waste of space. How he managed 4 years here is beyond me. And that was just his second spell.

Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: janaage on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 15:55:35 Managers like King and MM still have produced some good performances, I honestly can't think of one entertaining decent result under Iffy.

Swindon 4-2 Bournemouth. That was a good one. Peacock's first home game for us. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:07:42 We beat the Shitheads 2-1 live on Sky...never a bad scoreline to have on your CV.
A very sweet Friday night Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: janaage on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:13:58 Was that under Iffy? The City match? I can't remember the Bournemouth match, must have missed that.

Iffy Evans Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:25:54 Yeah i was going to mention the City match as well. It was under Iffy. Johnson had just taken over for them as well. That was a great first half. One of the few we actually looked good in that season.
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:27:35 Was that under Iffy? The City match? I can't remember the Bournemouth match, must have missed that. Oh yes...Iffy did alright for tyro manager taking on a difficult task...he was basically fucked though when we sold Fallon. Losing Paul Smith and then losing at home to Rotherham is what royally screwed us. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: glos_robin on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:30:31 what about the Colchester match under Iffy where Fallon scored the last minute winner. We completely outplayed them that game and they got promoted.....still reckon if we had kept Fallon we would have stayed up as he was on fire at that stage.
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: flammableBen on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:31:45 Nah because that doesn't fit.
Points % of total possible? Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Batch on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:32:09 We drew ourselves into contention with the win over the Gills, only to slump badly. Everyone except me blames Cureton.
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:36:24 We drew ourselves into contention with the win over the Gills, only to slump badly. Everyone except me blames Cureton. After that we rose to 16th had that previously mentioned Rotherham game, were 2-0 or 2-1 ahead and then just imploded. Losing 3-2...the morale sapping consequence of that ws teh infamous Forest game. Why did it happen...we'd just one 3 out of 4 with a decent point in the other? Fuck knows, but we never recovered. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:45:04 We were 1-0 ahead and then 2-1 ahead and yes we imploded and showed no bottle. Rottherham were on th brink financially then as well. That was the turning point. Then there was Franchise at home which we lost 1-0 with them famously scoring a minute after Shakes missed an absolute sitter one on one with their keeper.

Of course Rotherham have paid the penalty for getting together a side which they couldn't afford...that was one season where by his own admission Diamond Mike tried to balance the books....hence a string ofloan players and a cheapskate managerial appointment when King paid the price... Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 16:59:46 Just saw it and copied it,is it wrong then?
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: leefer on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 17:05:26 For me king......any manager who smokes cigars during a match is a fukin joker!...probably better than Iffy and co but the guy just rankled me.

Johnson had just taken over for them as well. That was a great first half. One of the few we actually looked good in that season. That was brilliant ,especially as we had beaten Johnson a couple of games previously when he was Yeovil boss, the "Tea Towel "game was very entertaining, going 1-0 down after 60 seconds and coming back to win 4-2 with Heaton saving a pen,if I remember rightly Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: adje on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 17:17:52 For me king......any manager who smokes cigars during a match is a fukin joker!...probably better than Iffy and co but the guy just rankled me. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 17:47:28 What are those percentages supposed to represent? Success rate % 1 for a win, 0.5 for a draw, 0 for a loss. Then divide by number of games. Would probably be fairer to assess points gained out of those available. In which case, using the stats provided: Iffy = 38% Wise = 63% Sturrock = 57% Malpas = 41% Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 17:47:51 those stats are looking a bit worrying.considering what iffy had to cope with and inherited i dont think he could really show what he could do.the malpas stats are what we should be worried about as they are barely any better.
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 17:49:28 I'm finding myself unable to disagree, Arriba. Which is a shame as I wanted to call you a cunt and be accused of being in a clique.

Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 18:34:30 Bit worrying though that percentage. Hope he turns it round though
Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Batch on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 18:35:50 Quote King: P W D L F A 193 71 48 74 265 263 = 45% Of course those stats include cup games, so pure points doesn't work as such. 49% using the "success" system. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 18:47:26 Todd was 8 years ago now! But other people have included him, and he is by far the worst manager weve had this decade.
Worst Todd Then Iffy I dont want to say who I think our third worst is. Adi Williams was a disaster, but he never had it full time. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: Scot Munroe on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 20:58:25 colin todd

Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: DV on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 00:05:04 Andy King was by far and away the worst manager but when he first started his second spell he had a decent back room staff around him. They soon left and our results got worse....no co-incidence.
Iffy on reflection wasnt as bad as the results suggest but then I dont think he was a brilliant manager either, however unlike King at the start Iffy had a piss poor back room staff & never got a pre-season and was always playing catch up. Title: Re: Our worst Manager Post by: THE FLASH on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 09:17:24 Steve McMoan..............should never have been relegated in the first place.........won the league but at the cost of the club being smashed to pieces by him and Rikki *unt!
Sacked Trollope, Pissed off Jan the Man ( A bad apple at the time but the only player capable of keeping us up).... Onura, Quinn just didnt have the resources! |
