Title: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Arnold.J.Rimmer on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 12:46:40 the away end at least http://www.leedsunited.com/page/LatestNewsDetail/0,,10273~1388173,00.html.
I'm hopeful we can get more than the 13270 we had last season. This will be our 6th home game in a row where we've had over 7000 in attendance, the first time this decade. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 12:51:45 The away end has been sold out for a few days now I think.
You got my hopes up there!! Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 13:41:43 Talking of the 7,000 attendances......as thats the figure that is mentioned as pretty much our break even figure I did a bit of research, yes I was very bored!
If we keep up this average attendance it will be the first time since the Premier League season that we have never had less than 7,000 at a game (yes I know its early in the season but I am feeling unusually optimistic!) Over the last 20 season (league games alone) these are the figues I discovered, with the equivalent divison as it is now has been stated. 07-08 1st Division we had 15 games under 7,000 06-07 2nd Division we had 13 games under 7,000 (promotion season) 05-06 1st Division we had 19 games under 7,000 (relegation season) 04-05 1st Division we had 22 games under 7,000 03-04 1st Division we had 10 games under 7,000 (play off season) 02-03 1st Division we had 20 games under 7,000 01-02 1st Division we had 15 games under 7,000 00-01 1st Division we had 17 games under 7,000 99-00 Championship we had 13 games under 7,000 (relegation season) 98-99 Championship we had 1 game under 7,000 97-98 Championship we had 4 games under 7,000 96-97 Championship we had 1 game under 7,000 95-96 1st Division we had 1 game under 7,000 (championship winning season) 94-95 Championship we had 1 game under 7,000 (relegation season) 93-94 Premiership season our lowest crowd was 11,940 (relegation season) 92-93 Championship we had 1 game under 7,000 (promotion season) 91-92 Championship we had 1 game under 7,000 90-91 Championship we had 0 games under 7,000 89-90 Championship we had 2 games under 7,000 (promotion/relegation season) 88-89 Championship we had 5 games under 7,000 Apologies for any crap adding up I have used but I got pretty bored half way through! Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:05:52 Namned naughties, we were doing so well in the 90's but they year 2000 came along didn't it. STFC, the only victim of the Y2K bug.
Had we have known then what we know now we wouldn't have partied like it was 1999. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:07:18 You bring up an interesting sort of metadefinition question there. Is it possible to not party like its 1999 in 1999?
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Arriba on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:37:07 gonna be a big gate.where i sit in the arkells usually had fuck all left at lunch time.i've never known that to happen before.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:46:21 You bring up an interesting sort of metadefinition question there. Is it possible to not party like its 1999 in 1999? Yes, pretend it's 2000 already and just go to bed early. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:49:45 BUt then you wouldn't be partying.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:57:08 BUt then you wouldn't be partying. But the corollary of your point means that Prince couldn't have partied like it was 1999. How could he, he didn't know what 1999 was like so couldn't replicate it in his partying other than by using pure guesswork. Unless he had a time machine. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: donkey on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:04:22 I want to party like it's 1949.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: herthab on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:06:55 I want to party like it's 1499
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: dell boy on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:23:10 Speaking to a few of my Leeds mates they say they are bringing well over 5,000, so they will be scattered all over the Arkells and the DR
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: tans on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:38:04 Northern wankers.
As long as they dont start singing in the DR and not make a tit of themselves in there they would be left alone i suspect.. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Arriba on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:39:46 there were loads dotted about last season.shouldn't happen, and could lead to trouble.advance tickets require an address dont they?and the online ticket thing wasn't working when i tried to have a look.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Tails on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:42:59 Yes but some Leeds fan live in Swindon. I work with two Leeds fans who I know will be in the home ends.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: janaage on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:53:26 That's what I was going on about before, it pisses me off away fans in the home end, they turn up seat amongst us silently willing on the opposition. I would not intervene should one of them find themselves getting a battering.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: tans on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:53:53 there were loads dotted about last season.shouldn't happen, and could lead to trouble.advance tickets require an address dont they?and the online ticket thing wasn't working when i tried to have a look. exactly my point. im going to take my gun. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Weasel on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:01:17 Think the matchday ticket office are supposed to refuse to sell them home stand tickets.. Remember hearing about a welsh STFC fan nearly getting turned away because he 'sounded like a Swansea fan'...
I like the mixing... especially when the away team score and you get muted celebration from the infiltrating away fans, followed by some abuse from the home support and then they get ejected. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: swindonbob on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:36:33 There was almost a fight behind me this year, when some QPR cockney twats sat in the DR stand. The difference was they were cheering QPR and slagging off Swindon most of the first half. When some bloke turned round and cheered whilst looking at them after we went into the lead, they started kicking off saying they were just trying to watch the game - and wanted to "take it outside if you have a problem"
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:44:01 To be fair to the club, they almost refused to sell me a ticket ove rthe phone based on the fact I hadn't bought one already this season. Thankfully I have an SN postcode!
A few Leeds fans will inevitably get in the home end but it seems like the club are doing all they can to stop it. Wouldn't have been a bad idea to make it all-ticket, unless they have and I've missed it?! Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Luci on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:51:44 It says "Leeds biggest away presence so far this season"
Is this because we have the largest capacity for away fans so far out of who they have already played this season? Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: michael on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:52:30 No, it is because it is their cup final!
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:56:20 Come for the Swindon, you've only come for the Swindon....
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: DV on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 16:59:59 There will probably be Leeds fans in the home stands, there was one or two sat infront of me last season
Honestly, if they keep themselves to themselves and dont gloat or go over the top I dont care. At the end of the day regardless of who we support we should all be humans. We can get along. Rugby for the most part dont seperate the home and away supporters they all sit together and for the most part get on fine. Dont see why football cant be the same.... Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 17:09:22 Speaking to a few of my Leeds mates they say they are bringing well over 5,000 How on earth somebody can possibly make a comment like that I do not know. It is unlikely that 5000 will come from Leeds, of the 3000 odd away supporters I bet a sizable number don't come from Leeds but live reasonably local. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 17:17:01 I know a Leeds fan who is sitting in the home end. I just told him to keep his head down and his mouth shut.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: leefer on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 17:58:41 The thing that annoys me is you can imagine the carnage if 30 Swindon fans sat in the Leeds nd at Elland Road, was at the ground today and they toldme 13,000 have been sold.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: wokinghamred on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 18:33:31 I'm bringing two Leeds fans with me, We'll be in the DR Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 18:58:36 was at the ground today and they toldme 13,000 have been sold. 13,000 already? Mind you I suppose it'll only be a select few who were willing to leave it to the last minute for thisTitle: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 19:10:13 Sounds like bad planning to me, if leeds are selling out this easily then surely we should have given them the townend.
I know town fans get annoyed if we get a limiting allocation. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Batch on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 19:13:26 Sounds like bad planning to me, if leeds are selling out this easily then surely we should have given them the townend. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Spencer_White on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 19:50:42 If I see any grey haired old men, supporting Leeds behind me in the corporate bit Im going to turn around and nut em.
:toughguy: Thats for being on the 1990 panel. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Dozno9 on Friday, September 12, 2008, 08:18:14 I remember loads of Sunderland fans all around me a few years ago who where threatening those around them, so that puts me off away fans sitting in the home end especially when the club fans are known for creating trouble.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Batch on Friday, September 12, 2008, 08:27:30 I remember loads of Sunderland fans all around me a few years ago who where threatening those around them, so that puts me off away fans sitting in the home end especially when the club fans are known for creating trouble. Yes, I agree. Some scrotes offered me £30 each for my 3 tickets in the Wheathshief in Ciren. That was a days student tesco worker wages. Naturally I told them to do one. IIRC that was a game they could have clinched promotion, and they didn't. I had a radio and it was good fun winding them up. Having said that I have to put my hand up and say I have sat with away fans twice before. Once v Forest as my Forest supporting colleague wouldn't go unless I sat with he home fans. Once at home v Chelsea for the Kevin Morris benefit game. My football turettes got the better of me and I was shouting "Wise your a c*nt" befre I realised sitting down and shutting up was the best policy. I got away with it. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, September 12, 2008, 08:34:29 I sat with the home supporters at Leeds away in the Carling Cup that year when we lost to Robinson's header. I was sat next to a nutter, so that was a fucking horrible game because all you wanted to do was celebrate, but were terrified of having your face put through the floor.
I also sat with the home supporters at Reading when we beat them 3-1, with Kuffour and Invincibile scoring. That was fun because when i accidently cheered, i got nasty looks and nothing else. So i carried on, as i thought it was ok. It was ok and no one said a word. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Friday, September 12, 2008, 09:12:08 That leeds game was the one game i went when i should not of, i was a master of disguise or so i thought until a Swindon copper said hello but said he would keep it quiet

Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Friday, September 12, 2008, 10:16:55 I sat in the home end at Blackpool when Invincibile missed that last minute penalty. My Dad didn't trust me on my own in the away end!
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: RobertT on Friday, September 12, 2008, 11:40:38 I've sat in the home section when we played Man City and Aston Villa back in the late 80's. I have no issues with it really provided there was space and they haven't taken seats the home fans would have, and provided a modicrum of self control is used. I've also sat in the Stretford End with a Swindon shirt on, which got some very strange looks on a European night.
Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: horlock07 on Friday, September 12, 2008, 11:46:49 I sat in the home end at Blackpool when Invincibile missed that last minute penalty. So did I, it was surreal like watching football in the 1960's all flat caps and whippets Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: @MacPhlea on Friday, September 12, 2008, 11:51:00 One of the groundsmen is a Leeds supporter - we're planning to debag him and feed him to the Robinettes :D

Thankfully I have an SN postcode! A few Leeds fans will inevitably get in the home end but it seems like the club are doing all they can to stop it. Wouldn't have been a bad idea to make it all-ticket, unless they have and I've missed it?! When I bought our tickets earlier this week, they were happy to take my credit card details but wouldn't take my name & address for precisely the same reason. (I live 60 miles from Swindon, in Hampshire.) One of the friends I am going with tomorrow lives in Wootton Bassett, and the ticket office was happy to take his details. But what confuses me is that (unless I am missing something here) I could have opened up the Swindon telephone directory and given them a random name & address. I think they would have been happy with that too. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: Panda Paws on Friday, September 12, 2008, 13:20:19 Ugh I've had all sorts of trouble with this today.
I've been on their database for years and years, but all of a sudden I'm not this season because of a "computer upgrade". Now, this doesn't sound much of an upgrade if they've lost all their customers' details, does it? So I ring in, old guy Brian refuses point blank to sell me tickets as my postcode is in Bristol: "All the Leeds fans are saying they've been going for 20 years," he tells me when I protest over how long I've been going to games. Anyway, I ring reception to complain and - fair play - they rang me straight back and got me on the database. Then, four hours later the ticket office finally call back, I get tickets ... Mind you, I'm stuck in some pretty shit ones in the front of the Arkells ... but that's my fault for having not rung sooner! I'm grateful to the admin bit of the club for sorting it - but you've got to ask what the hell is going on in the ticket office if they manage to lose so many customers' details ... There's no warning on the official website that we need to be pre-registered on the "upgraded" database, or that there's any police restriction on non-Swindon postcodes. If I had known I would have sorted tickets much sooner. Poor. Title: Re: Leeds Sold Out Post by: reeves4england on Friday, September 12, 2008, 13:27:44 Nobody is on the database any more. I'd have thought it would have been easy enough to transfer it all across but apparantly not. I spent about 5-10 minutes on the phone the other day because they wanted to add my name, address, phone number, email address and date of birth to my 'account' on the new system. I suppose we'll all be glad in a couple of years time when it makes life easier for us though
