I know its been mentioned in a few threads so dont bollock me but driving back from Monmouth today i was stuck in Gloucester for an hour and  half on the A40 roadworks,and it wasnt a Friday or rush hour which it will be for you fans traveling to Hereford,you will be in danger of missing the first half at least.

What would the best way to go to avoid this then? M4, M48, A466, A49?

 So what is the best non motorway alternative? Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, Ledbury?

Get M5north in gloucester,off junction 8 onto M50,off junction2 onto A417 Ledbury and that leads you onto theA438 straight to Hereford....an hour and a half ...2 hours max.

You dont touch Gloucester Reg..its on the outskirts....abit like the M4Swindon.

I'm attempting to witness 4 away wins in a week, 3 swindon, 1 england - 2 out of 2 so far.

3 seasons ago i made a good friend at work who was also a Swindon fan. Since then, we have been to 12 away league games together...

Its definately a curse. 12 games over three seasons is mental.....unfortunately we will be at Hereford on Friday.

 That's impressive going...in 85/86 due to bad weather and the fixture list, we played 6 away games in a row from Jan 18th to March 8th..won the lot.

Reg, you're amazing!  How the hell do you remember all this?  I can't even remember which limb goes in which trouser leg?  Do you have a massive library of football books, do you have thousands of little note books with things written down, a massive computerised record of Swindon games played - I'm really genuinely intrigued!

 I've got a few books, for dates and that, but most of the general stuff is in my head.

Living in Tewkesbury I'm just going to M50 it as by far the easiest option..............unless of course it floods (which is a distinct possibility at the moment) in which case junction 1 will flood and close the motorway.  The Highnam to Over roadworks are a nightmare and I'd say avoid them at all costs.

I popped into the ticket office yesterday to get tickets for next week and they said it was pay on the day?

Yeah it's got a roof. Was a good atmosphere last time we played there. Let's see if we can get another Hereford player sent off.........

The side stand has a roof but there isn't one behind the goal IIRC.

Yeah there is, just it only covers the main body of the stand, and the beach bit at the front is uncovered, altho only selling 404 tickets and them all of a sudden making it all ticket, i cant see us needing the end stand!

As soon as our team coach leaves with the tickets on board there will be a notice on the official site saying its not all ticket anymore. Happens all the time. For strict all ticket matches they make much more fuss than this.

But I did ring up and buy one, so call me a fraud if you want!

Thats right Pumbaa....just go M5 then onto M50,off junction 2....i went to Hereford and Leominster today,only took me 2 hours in the lorry,so you will do it in an hour and half.

Cheers for this....just was looking on Sat Nav, and this is the quickest alternative....it only adds 2 minute onto the original A40 journey.
