Title: Alan Curbishley Post by: Sippo on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 13:11:54 Quits West Ham. Coincidence??
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: juddie on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 13:17:06 Na. Thankless job managing that lot, a horrendous mix of players, ungrateful fans and, presumably an owner making decisions on his behalf.
May mate reckons bilic to west ham,m I'm not so sure so close to the qualifiers... Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 13:20:33 him and keegan in the same situation really.both were having the job made more difficult by the day.
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 13:26:34 The English football manager is a dying breed.
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: magicroundabout on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 14:39:48 Curbishley to Swindon. you heard it here first!!!!!!
well someone had too Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 14:47:09 I backed Curbishley to be the first Premier Manager to leave/be removed from his post this season - thought I had lost my money yesterday with Keegan apparently going. Not sure if the bookies are willing to pay out yet though.
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Power to people on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 15:04:31 What is the same at these Clubs - they all have new owners who want success quickly and when it does not happen realise they have to slash the wage bill as they did not realise how much it would cost them to keep the club up there when they bought in....
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: DV on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 15:42:40 Wont be long before all these owners install themselves as managers so they can pick the team.

Not sure if the bookies are willing to pay out yet though. Dell, I've often thought of putting a tenner on each manager (within reason) in the Premiership to be replaced, at the start of the season. Too late now, but where would I find the odds ? - doesn't seem to appear on the websites I've been looking at Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: strooood on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 16:54:22 apparently lucas neil stood up in the dressing room after saturday's game and said
"We've just saved you job" What a cunt. Curbs always struck me as a bit meak anyway. get Bilic in then we might be able to scrape a point in the 2 croatia games. Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: dell boy on Wednesday, September 3, 2008, 18:43:43 Dell, Curbishley was favourite to lose his job first, he was quoted as high as 6/1, I only got 9/2, but this has set my seasons betting up well, the biggest anti post bet I've had, but they are not paying out yet because of Keegan.I've often thought of putting a tenner on each manager (within reason) in the Premiership to be replaced, at the start of the season. Too late now, but where would I find the odds ? - doesn't seem to appear on the websites I've been looking at I've had a couple of bob on Big Sam being reinstated at Newcastle at silly 40/1, this does not include caretaker manager. The second biggest bet this season was on Leicester at 6/1 to win Div 1, I'm going to sell that, quids in, I thank you. I dont think curbishley is a strong character anyhow, youd have thought he would have fought tooth and nail to do things his way Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Fred Elliot on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 09:45:55 apparently lucas neil stood up in the dressing room after saturday's game and said "We've just saved you job" What a cunt. Too late now, but where would I find the odds ? - doesn't seem to appear on the websites I've been looking at Sorry, I didn't give you the details you asked: I normally go the Racing Post site and they give odds from most bookmakers, including who will be the top team in the West in Div One, handicap divisional winners, who will be the first manager sacked and so on, infact anything you want to bet on you will find it on there, and they will list who is offering the best price as well if you register with the site. Cheers Dell, I'll have a butchers. Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: dell boy on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 12:17:28 Cheers Dell, I'll have a butchers. I've just come off the site, you will need to register and give a password, pretty limited betting at the moment, it seems all the pre-season odds have gone. You can still get the divisional betting but that's about it. Leicester for instance are now 11/4 favourites, Swindon are 40/1. It is probably best to go to Bet365 for more odds. Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Scot Munroe on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 12:32:58 Billic will get the job. i think he quit because the board sold 2 defenders in Ferdinand and Mccartney to Sunderland with out Curbs knowing. he done alright job there he saved them from relegation and bought Injury plague players on high wages. I.e Dyer, Ljungberg, Neill.
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Power to people on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 13:04:52 Cheers Dell, I'll have a butchers. I don't think you can place a bet using meat can you Nev ? I thought that was what was menat by a 'steak' Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: RobertT on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 20:48:56 What on earth is going on at West Ham? just seen they have 2 people in charge of buying and selling players because they wanted to protect themselves from Managers leaving! what's the point in that if they bring in a Manager who doesn't like the players, he'll just not pick them and you've wasted the money. You'd surely use the Manager to guide the policy, even in the Continental set-up with a DofF. Then you see that they've gone and appointed a Transfer Advisor, none other than the chap who stitched them with Tevez and Mascherano. I thought they had tried to use the courts on him and now he's advising them on transfers.
Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 21:12:46 I'm just glad we didn't end up with Rufus Brevitt as "sporting director".
I think I could have quite easily called it a day. One of the bizarre things a year ago, was that some were so keen to see the back of Newbury, that it ws a case of anything else would do. I think it's worth remembering, how close we came to absolute disaster. Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: leefer on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 21:26:35 Here Here Reg....when you look back it was a shambles, with Brady,Ruddock,Evans, then Power and co...lets hope these guys are the real thing, only time will tell.

No, it was a case of if that was the only option then it was better than extinction. I think we are all glad things worked out as they did. What happened to Best Holdings and their interest in Tranmere/Coventry/whoever? Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, September 4, 2008, 21:38:27 No, it was a case of if that was the only option then it was better than extinction. Well personally I'd have rather had Diamandis still running the club than letting the Portugeezers near it. Title: Re: Alan Curbishley Post by: wheretherealredsare on Friday, September 5, 2008, 08:26:48 Right. I mean, how would we have got a road-marking machine over to Portugal?
