The ground is right in the Town centre. So all the Yates' and that are there. They can be a bit hostile.

Crimea outside the ground has to be one of the most notorious home pubs in the south of England.

Aldershot is a weird place.....very run down, its got plenty of pubs,if you havnt been before be prepared for abit of a shock, the ground is awfull...in fact as a driver who delivers there regularly i can say its one of the worst towns in England i have been too.

A Bournemouth fan from another forum had a run in with a few members of the Shot's "youth" a few weeks back. If you're going by train keep your eye out because it sounds like they are a bit like Rovers.

I think half of this stand is the away end.

Looks quality.

Can't see a food hut so will perhaps make some sandwiches to take with me.

I was posted just outside Aldershot in the early 80's. Don't know what it's like now but it was a bit of a shithole then.

Be good to get to a ground with some terracing after Saturdays trip to the plastic bowl at mk. Nice ground but soulless.

To be fair Shots prob think Aldershot are their rivals. Its only a JPT match so there wont be a massive crowd (not that there ever is) anyway. Wouldn't worry too much. Not sure I will wear colours though

Infact there is a away fans bar at the ground...

Away fans are treated to their own bar underneath the South Stand called 'Walley's Bar' (I am sure this was not meant to be an insult to away fans!). Otherwise the ground is located only five minutes walk away from Aldershot Town Centre where there are plenty of pubs to be found. 'The Beehive' & 'Crimea' are the closest pubs to the ground. Otherwise you may want to try the CAMRA listed Royal Staff pub on Mount Pleasant Road. Although located on top of a hill, it does look down onto the football ground and serves a good pint of Fullers Pride. For a map showing the location of this pub click here (to take you to the Streetmap website).

The Golden Lion (turn left out of the ground - under the railway bridge) and walk for about five minutes down the road it a good bet if you want some food/decent beer and nice supporters etc.

The La Fontaine (sp?) at the top of Redan Hill (next to the ground) is on the way to the away supporters turnstiles (please allow lots of time - its a steep hill and you'll have to walk back down through the "park" to get in) but I think they've stopped letting away supporters in now.

On a serious note - the fuckwits who think they're tough like to hang around towards the top of the hill and like to act tough towards visiting supporters so do keep your eyes open for mongs wearing hoody's, lots of bidup.tv gold jewllery and shouting "faaaakin come on den"... not that you'd miss them!

That said, the Big Brother eviction is tonight so many of them may stay in.  Not that I would suggest it, but if the tougher ones in your ranks want to give them a decent kicking, we wouldn't feel upset in the slightest.

Don't want to give you the wrong impression - but just to make you aware as the group really are a bunch of "wannabes" and could be hanging around and seem to make right twats out of themselves by picking on the "regular" supporter rather than going for their likeminded retarded friends.  In all honesty I've seen far worse problems watching Swindon now and again over the years, but keep 'em peeled, eh!?

Enjoy the match (although not the result I hope!) and hope to see a few of you on route down the M4.

I'll second that (but then I would, because I live there.)  The Prince of Wales, which is just down from Farnborough North station and also within walking distance of Farnborough Main is a gem of a pub...but you would need a cab to the ground from there.  The Thatched Cottage is also worth a visit.

And on the other side of Aldershot, but still only a few miles away, you have Farnham which has a number of great places to go.  Top of the pile is probably the William Cobbett.

Ooh Cobbett....bit of a hero of mine.

I've done a few walks and bike rides, locally where I've tried to retrace Cobbett's routes in his Rural Rides, and see how things relate now to what he saw in the early 19th Century.  Cobbett liked Swindon describing it as in "the real fat of the land"....he was also impressed by the canal.  He descrobed Calne as a villainous hole and disliked Bassett with a passion.

Where's the Sandrock?  Is that Farnborough...or maybe Farnham...I was very, very drunk.
