Post by: reeves4england on Thursday, August 28, 2008, 10:03:56
On footballgroundguide.com it suggests loads of inconvenient places that one could visit. Anybody chosen a pre-match venue yet?

I hope this info helps and you enjoy your day out here in MK.
Guide to pubs in Milton Keynes:

http://www.mkweb.co.uk/pubs_clubs

StadiumMK is located in the Debigh area of Milton Keynes which is unfortunately lacking in pubs. You should also be aware that although there is a bar in the away end, it closes 30 minutes before kick off on a Saturday and doesn't open for evening games (Licensing Restrictions!)

The Beacon:
The nearest pub to the ground is The Beacon which is generally considered to be the Franchise home pub. If you are not out to cause trouble you will be welcomed there.

With the stadium entrance in front of you and Asda to the right, the pub is located on an industrial estate behind the stadium. From the back of the the stadium cross over the road and go down Dawson Road which is in front of you. At the bottom of Dawson Road turn right into Bond Street and the pub is down on the right, situated next to a small lake.

Two For One, Willen Lake:
Away supporters travelling by coach have been stopping at the Two For One Pub and Restaurant on Willen Lake. There are excellent parking facilities and plenty of room for fans.
 Directions by road

Map and Directions:
http://www.multimap.com

Directions from the East:
Leave the M1 at Junction 14 and head towards Milton Keynes.
Go straight over the first roundabout
At the next roundabout (where there is a Total Garage on the corner) turn left onto the V11 Tongwell Street.
Straight over first roundabout
At second roundabout turn right onto the H8 Standing Way (A421). Continue alone Standing Way until you reach the Bleak Hall Roundabout
Turn left into the V6 Grafton Street.
At the next roundabout, turn right and the stadium entrance is further down on the left.

Directions from the North:
Leave the M1 at Junction 15
Turn right on to the A508 signposted Stony Stratford
Follow the A508 for 14 miles
At roundabout on junction with the A5 turn left onto the A5 South
After a few miles leave the A5 as signposted by brown football stadium signs

Directions from the South
Leave the M1 at junction 13
Take the second exit (A421) signposted Milton Keynes
Stay on the A421 over several roundabouts until you pick up the brown football stadium signs directing you to the Stadium.

Parking:
There are 2,000 car parking spaces at the stadium, which costs £5 per vehicle. It will usually take you twenty minutes to leave the car park due to congestion.

Alternatively there are numerous free parking spaces on industrial estates East and West of the Stadium. Do not park in Asda or Ikea as you are liable to be wheel clamped.

Travelling by Train

Pre-book train tickets:
http://www.thetrainline.com

The nearest train stations on the Midland Mainline are Bletchley and Milton Keynes Central. The line operates between London Euston and Birmigham:

Milton Keynes:
We advise getting off at Milton Keynes Central Station and getting a taxi to the stadium which would cost approx £5. There are infrequent bus services which are not advised.

Bletchley:
The nearest station which is two miles away from the stadium. It's a 25 minute walk to the stadium. Turn left immediately you come out of the station building and continue to and down the steps. At the bottom of the steps turn left go under the railway bridge. At the roundabout by the Park Pub turn left onto Saxon Street. Keep straight on this road and you will eventually reach the stadium. In places there is no foot path. You will pass Bletchley Bus Station on your right and then the Enigma Pub. Go straight across the double mini roundabout following signs for the A5 and you will see the stadium over on your left.

Yep, A420. Drive AROUND Oxford, to the M40, up one junction and then over to MK from there. That's a very vague description of the route which I'm planning to take but have forgotten!
