Title: Text Messages
Post by: Luci on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, 19:54:57
Have you ever had any texts out of the blue from people you haven't seen in YEARS?!

I had one tonight from someone I hadn't spoke to in 5 years, bizarre, do people really keep numbers in their phones that long?

 :bye:

I had a message this morning it read:
'Are you in Rhodes today, if you are pop round. XX'
My wife looked at the message on my phone, I have nothing to hide so she often answers my calls and texts. Get out of that one. I'm still trying (the phone call came from Greece).

Nah most people i used to speak to and haven't seen in years have probably changed phones and number like i have. I did get an answer phone message a few years back at Christmas and didn't have a clue who the hell it was. That was a bit random.

I don't delete numbers in my phone, it seems more hassle and bother to pick through all the numbers and delte them, so I just leave them in there.

I keep on getting texts in Thai.

For all I know I may have had one telling me that I have won a million only for me to delete it instantly.

I think my phone number used to belong to an Irish girl - I have my phone number 4/5 years now and I still get texts and call from her friends - in particular a scary man that goes by the name of Beaver!! I had a voice mail the other day saying she had left her coat in the Old Oak so shes never gonna get that back!!!

I don't like text messages. I think they're ok for the odd question or something when a call is unnecessary, but a personal hate of mine is people trying to have full on conversations with me by text. Why can't they fucking speak? It's in variably girls as well, why? They can talk the hind legs off a donkey, so talk!

It's like a friend of mine sending text messages to see how i am and ask what i've been up to. WTF? SPEAK TO ME! Then there are those which don't answer their phone and then text you for the missed call, or those that text you, so you ring them straight away and no answer... The text message will be the death of social skills, mark my words.

I know where you are coming from, I think we've all experienced what you've written above, maybe you are describing a few on here as well.

Texting is annoying, but emails, how silly has that become.
One of my mates works in a large open plan office for the Pru, he told me he receives about four or five emails an hour from people who are only a table away.

Glad I dont work in such an environment, he says it takes about four messages each way to gain an answer you could have solved in 1 minute talking face to face.

She probably just feels a bit left out.  Have you asked her if she wants to join in for a threesome?

i can kind of understand it to be honest. doesn't make a difference at my current job, i usually use the opportunity to go for a wander if i need to talk to someone in a different part of the building. in bigger companies, leaving your desk is like a heinous crime...suppose you could pick the phone up though.

i text people at work and have conversations via text as chatting on your mobile is frowned upon...

i try to keep all my correspondence with clients via email though, as mulley says - makes it easier when you have to prove yourself right/the client wrong.

I hate emails at work because I have to type the cunts. Where as a letter/fax is typed by my sercerty/tpyist lady. Plus as you all know I can't spell!!!!!
