Something that is annoying me. Yesterday Darren Fletcher 'scored' a goal which he didn't touch and SkySports and media has since said "of course it's his, he got himself in the right the position therefore deserves the goal" - Charles N'Zogbia has done a similar thing tonight.

What a load of rubbish - surely you have to make contact - no wonder this country is producing football opinionated morons if such stupid ideals are being preached and accepted.

To claim a goal I'd say you have to have had some effect on the direction the ball is travelling in, and it has to have not been going in anyway. It's bollocks taht people can claim goals when they haven't touched it

As I was posting they were showing the replays I missed them, it looked dubious at first though - but the Darren Fletcher goal infuriated me because Dion Dublin and Jamie Redknapp were waffling on yesterday and it was total nonsense.

Its a good point Rich...Jimmy greaves reckons he would have scored 80 odd carreer goals more if dodgy own goals were credited to him.

Exactly. It also confuses me when a committee is created to make sure the correct decisions but are also clueless - Peter Crouch's first goal for Liverpool is a good example... it cannons off a defender just outside the box, the ball changes direction completely and is then scooped into the goal by the the keeper... and it's given to Crouch... it's an own goal in my opinion.

To be fair Rich, I have no idea who I'd give that to!

I'd have given it as a Pollitt own goal as he essentially slaps the ball into the goal as opposed to getting a hand on it like most goals that go in via the keeper.
