He's not worth the risk in my opinion. He's spent too much time out injured. I know he scored today, but it would be terrible for him to come back and struggle to hit 10 in a season. It's a completely different team than the one he left, which means there's no guarantee that it would work out.

He'd sell the last 900 season tickets overnight, I wouldn't be suprised if the whole transfer deal broke even with shirts and the like.

Completely disagree.  If Sam had gone on to be a success since he left us, then maybe.  But I think people know that his career hasn't worked out since he left us, having spent too long out injured.

Personally, I would hate to have him back, because the chances of him replicating the form that made him a favourite first time around are approximately nil.  We should leave our heroes as heroes, and not give them the chance to show themselves for the mortals they really are.

its not as if parkin keeps getting different little niggles that keep him out, he had a broken ankle, it has been the ankle that kept him out the whole time, he scored goals at the end of last season and had a pre season.

I don't mind eith way - all I know is that Parkin left us basically worrying that his career was going nowhere. Look what happened. Surely, he wants out? He'll score the goals but the Luton team isn't strong at all.

I love Sam Parkin as much as the next man, but I really do think that Cox is the better player.

Firstly our strikers looked top notch today both individually and as a partnership

Secondly, we shouldnt sign Parkin he is apparently Lutons top earner (still on Championship wages) and he has had a bad record with injuries. If we seriously wanted Parkin back then the best option would be a short term loan deal where we agree to pay x amount of his wages (whatever the budget/fitton allowes, we'll say for example 50%) everyones a winner.

Luton get 50% of Parkins wages off the budget for say 6 months
We get Parkin back here short term to prove himself. If hes great and scores goals and plays like the Parkin of 3/4/5 years ago then we can talk about signing him. If he isnt the same Sam Parkin we just give him a good send off to show he's still worshiped here and we havent made much of a loss.

In a way they're a different type of striker - but I agree with you. Cox could become something special Sam Parkin was a shining light in some our darker ages - for that I will always appreciate his contribution.

I remember at kenilworth road last year he was warming up and came near the away end and looked chuffed to bits at the reception he got from us. Then when he came on he got a better reception from us than he did from the home fans!

Parkin looks pretty focused on playing for Luton now.

They will get relegated so he will be moving on next year for sure. Weve got too many forwards, so we should shelve it and maybe try next year?

You all know if you're really honest he wasn't all that good. He was a decent lower all round league striker. He had a reasonable first touch, decent in the air, powerful shot.

Injuries have completely buggered his career in much the same way they did with another promising young striker who left us for greener fields, Peter Thorne, and asked to choose between the two of them, injury records aside, I'd say Thorne was the better player. He had a similar all-round game to Parkin, but also had a decent turn of pace.

Neither of them were as good as Big Dunc. or Jan the Man, and neither of those were really quite good enough to make it in a decent Premier League side. That should tell you something.

On a more positive note, from the snatches of him that I've seen, all on vidoe I admit, I think the kid
Cox could be a really decent player.

I thought he was crap in the air, and can only remember him scoring outside the box on one occasion (at Wycombe). But I do love him. Shame he left when he did, another season or two here would have seen him pass 100 goals and become a true, undisputed, all time legend.

Parkin will never, ever, come back here. Why would he spoil the legacy he left behind?

He was a good player, though: fact. It doesn't matter who you play for or in what division, you can only beat what is put in front of you and parkin scored goals in an average team consistently.

He had to go when he did, because if he'd waited another year and not scored so many, he might not have climbed the pyramid at all. What happened with injuries is unfortunate, but he scoed at the end of last season and got another today - he'll score loads in league two, especially with kevin nicholls behind him.

Maybe not as good as Jan or big dunc, but he's the best striker we've had since either IMO.

I'm surprised he's not left, because Luton needed to get his off their wage bill. Maybe he'll still go in Jan, but if he stays he should score a bag load in league two. I just hope he does well where ever he is, he's had a horrible couple of years and he's been a miserable bastard (sorry sam)!
