Title: Parkin Post by: leefer on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:15:30 Saw he scored today for Luton....was suprised because i thaught he had signed for Millwall.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:17:48 Someone needs to get him the hell out of that club, league the whole combo. He left us with the intention to make the Premiership - the way it's worked out for Parkin is tragic.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Arriba on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:20:07 the betsy money should be going towards getting him back.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: leefer on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:21:51 On the bright side Rich....he may score the winner v Oxford next year!
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: flammableBen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:22:27 He's not worth the risk in my opinion. He's spent too much time out injured. I know he scored today, but it would be terrible for him to come back and struggle to hit 10 in a season. It's a completely different team than the one he left, which means there's no guarantee that it would work out.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Nemo on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:31:22 He'd sell the last 900 season tickets overnight, I wouldn't be suprised if the whole transfer deal broke even with shirts and the like.
Think Beckham to Real, just a bit better. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:35:52 He'd sell the last 900 season tickets overnight, I wouldn't be suprised if the whole transfer deal broke even with shirts and the like. Think Beckham to Real, just a bit better. N'ah I doubt it would but that phrase "feel good factor" springs to mind. If Billy Paynter compliments Cox - or vice versa(!), we don't need Parkin with Peacock, Sturrock and Joyce - adequate cover... However, Blair is blatantly on his way out. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Hatch on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:41:32 Gnapka also played for Luton today
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: flammableBen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:41:47 He'd sell the last 900 season tickets overnight, I wouldn't be suprised if the whole transfer deal broke even with shirts and the like. Think Beckham to Real, just a bit better. No chance. The people who support Swindon and know how ace Parking was will have bought tickets already if they were going to. The extra 900 needed is new fans, who wouldn't give a shit. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 18:48:51 Gnapka also played for Luton today As did Sol Davis obviously... But what's the BBC's game? They haven't deducted Rotherham or Bournemouth's points... It must be the only thing Chester City fans can grasp onto this evening. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:05:30 He'd sell the last 900 season tickets overnight, I wouldn't be suprised if the whole transfer deal broke even with shirts and the like. Think Beckham to Real, just a bit better. Completely disagree. If Sam had gone on to be a success since he left us, then maybe. But I think people know that his career hasn't worked out since he left us, having spent too long out injured. Personally, I would hate to have him back, because the chances of him replicating the form that made him a favourite first time around are approximately nil. We should leave our heroes as heroes, and not give them the chance to show themselves for the mortals they really are. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Arriba on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:09:53 he wouldn't get and extra 900 season tickets bought, but if fit will score goals a plenty.
he is a natural goal scorer. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: michael on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:39:27 Are there people out there who haven't bought a season ticket, but would buy 1 if Sam Parkin signed?
No there aren't. Stop saying stupid things. He's a crock and isn't worth what we'd have to pay for him. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:40:58 hes a proven goalscorer who would score goals and if we could get him at a knock down price we should be in their like a snap
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:43:14 its not as if parkin keeps getting different little niggles that keep him out, he had a broken ankle, it has been the ankle that kept him out the whole time, he scored goals at the end of last season and had a pre season.
Id snap him up Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:47:49 I don't mind eith way - all I know is that Parkin left us basically worrying that his career was going nowhere. Look what happened. Surely, he wants out? He'll score the goals but the Luton team isn't strong at all.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: michael on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:49:57 I love Sam Parkin as much as the next man, but I really do think that Cox is the better player.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: DV on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:53:36 Firstly our strikers looked top notch today both individually and as a partnership
Secondly, we shouldnt sign Parkin he is apparently Lutons top earner (still on Championship wages) and he has had a bad record with injuries. If we seriously wanted Parkin back then the best option would be a short term loan deal where we agree to pay x amount of his wages (whatever the budget/fitton allowes, we'll say for example 50%) everyones a winner. Luton get 50% of Parkins wages off the budget for say 6 months We get Parkin back here short term to prove himself. If hes great and scores goals and plays like the Parkin of 3/4/5 years ago then we can talk about signing him. If he isnt the same Sam Parkin we just give him a good send off to show he's still worshiped here and we havent made much of a loss. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:55:05 I love Sam Parkin as much as the next man, but I really do think that Cox is the better player. In a way they're a different type of striker - but I agree with you. Cox could become something special Sam Parkin was a shining light in some our darker ages - for that I will always appreciate his contribution. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:56:10 Sam Parkin is fucking brilliant, end of
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Lumps on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:58:30 Can everybody just accept that with five pro's already on the books in the forward positions, plus a couple of promising looking kids coming through we are not about to sign Sam Parkin or any other striker. Give it a fucking rest for christ sake!
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 20:59:55 Can everybody just accept that with five pro's already on the books in the forward positions, plus a couple of promising looking kids coming through we are not about to sign Sam Parkin or any other striker. Give it a fucking rest for christ sake! no, well i wont anyway, strurrock can go, corr is still a way off, Parkin would be immense Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Run_the_bath on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:11:31 He was brilliant in his time here but didnt he say himself that he wont be coming back?
I remember at kenilworth road last year he was warming up and came near the away end and looked chuffed to bits at the reception he got from us. Then when he came on he got a better reception from us than he did from the home fans! If he came back then "super sammy parkin" would probably be no more Title: Re: Parkin Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:13:02 he will always be super sammy
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:13:55 We don't need Parkin. End of.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:14:18 he will always be super sammy Damn right - but this status would probably be solidified if he didn't come back. It's a damn shame we didn't achieve anything while he was here (damn Brighton). Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:15:10 We don't need Parkin. End of. So? I've got loads of things I didn't need, I just wanted them. And I want super Sam back! Title: Re: Parkin Post by: JPC82 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:16:57 So? I've got loads of things I didn't need, I just wanted them. And I want super Sam back! me too, a psp being one, fucking useless things really Title: Re: Parkin Post by: adje on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:27:36 Thorney scored 2-should we get him back as well?
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Run_the_bath on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:28:19 and rory fallon?
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 21:35:39 and rory fallon? However, Lincoln's new number 3 (!!!) Aaron Brown was on the losing side... His ability slipped through our fingers. http://www.redimps.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/3/1d/0,,10440~3742979,00.jpg Title: Re: Parkin Post by: yeo on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 01:39:44 Yep ,lets sign only ex players from now on.Mick Hazard could do a job...
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 06:11:49 However, Lincoln's new number 3 (!!!) Aaron Brown was on the losing side... They will get relegated so he will be moving on next year for sure. Weve got too many forwards, so we should shelve it and maybe try next year? Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Lumps on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 19:36:39 You all know if you're really honest he wasn't all that good. He was a decent lower all round league striker. He had a reasonable first touch, decent in the air, powerful shot.
Injuries have completely buggered his career in much the same way they did with another promising young striker who left us for greener fields, Peter Thorne, and asked to choose between the two of them, injury records aside, I'd say Thorne was the better player. He had a similar all-round game to Parkin, but also had a decent turn of pace. Neither of them were as good as Big Dunc. or Jan the Man, and neither of those were really quite good enough to make it in a decent Premier League side. That should tell you something. On a more positive note, from the snatches of him that I've seen, all on vidoe I admit, I think the kid Cox could be a really decent player. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: the goat on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 19:40:31 lack of pace is all he is missing
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: michael on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 19:42:29 I thought he was crap in the air, and can only remember him scoring outside the box on one occasion (at Wycombe). But I do love him. Shame he left when he did, another season or two here would have seen him pass 100 goals and become a true, undisputed, all time legend.
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: suttonred on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 19:42:57 lack of pace is all he is missing Who Cox? are you jesting?Title: Re: Parkin Post by: the goat on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 19:49:15
Title: Re: Parkin Post by: juddie on Sunday, August 10, 2008, 23:45:33 Parkin will never, ever, come back here. Why would he spoil the legacy he left behind?
He was a good player, though: fact. It doesn't matter who you play for or in what division, you can only beat what is put in front of you and parkin scored goals in an average team consistently. He had to go when he did, because if he'd waited another year and not scored so many, he might not have climbed the pyramid at all. What happened with injuries is unfortunate, but he scoed at the end of last season and got another today - he'll score loads in league two, especially with kevin nicholls behind him. Maybe not as good as Jan or big dunc, but he's the best striker we've had since either IMO. Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Monday, August 11, 2008, 08:31:29 Im sure he would be thrilled to hear people are calling his career tragic!! ::)
Luton need all the help they can get - I hope SSP does a job for them and helps them out of the shit situation they are in Title: Re: Parkin Post by: juddie on Monday, August 11, 2008, 10:02:11 I'm surprised he's not left, because Luton needed to get his off their wage bill. Maybe he'll still go in Jan, but if he stays he should score a bag load in league two. I just hope he does well where ever he is, he's had a horrible couple of years and he's been a miserable bastard (sorry sam)!
I think I saw you on Saturday JFW. I don't know many people on this forum but I've seen pics of some of you lot, and I'm sure I recognised you and Gazza in the Winners? Title: Re: Parkin Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Monday, August 11, 2008, 10:13:56 yeah I was talking to Gazza in the winners
You should have come over and said hello!! Title: Re: Parkin Post by: nevillew on Monday, August 11, 2008, 10:14:49 lack of pace is all he is missing So he's actually fast then ? Title: Re: Parkin Post by: janaage on Monday, August 11, 2008, 10:15:01 You could have interviewed each other, off the record.
