I know Cox got the official MOM but McGovern was MOM for me , that was by far his best game in a Swindon shirt today.

 agree he was easily mom.i'd have picked paynter over cox too.

 Strange how different people see a different game, I thought he was OK today, kind of did a job, without ever really looking like taking hold of teh game.  Cox though I thought was excellent,  high work rate, brought others into the game and a threat on goal.

Cox was deffo MOM. He looked a cut above.

JP was OK, but for the amount of ball he had he could still do a bit better.

Timlin had a good game IMO.

Cox for me...JPM played well and agree with Red it was his best game for us,hes a good player and its about time he showed for us....oh and Cox missed abit of pre season and played with a broken hand....he was the bollox today and will score 20 easy this season.

McGorvern was good in the first half but once we stopped playing in the second half after the third he never wanted to get past his man and just kept laying it back to Jack Smith.

Decent enough game from JPM in my opinion, hopefully that'll keep the critics off his back for a week.

Paytner was also bloody good today probably would have been my MotM if he hadnt gone off and played the full game.

Stuff it, I'm going to be smug anyway but I did say in the pub before we left that Paynter would score from a JPM cross by those two have been getting stick [/smug]

Paynter looked fit as hell....ran Coxy close......could be a great double act.

Ed Hadwin said during the commentary that if Cox plays 40 odd games this season, he will score 20+ goals because he is f****** good.

I'm glad Paynter did well as I've never really understood all the stick he's taken.

Cox was awesome for me today.

No one played poorly, best for me in order were  Nalis, Cox, Paynter,JPM. Nobody seems to have mentioned Nalis, but he never missed a pass all game. Cox is going to be a nightmare for defenders if he stays fit, thought they were both 9/10's

Nails has a touch of class, he took a time to get on the pace of the game, but some of those touches, just pure class.

Nallis seems to be a posesssion magnet, kept the ball well and got the ball well, like Hewlett but good.

nalis was awesome at times. Especially in the first half - Chips it over the defender to paynter, paynter nods it back to him and a first time pass to play in cox. Wonderfull

His composure and general ability stood out by a mile in the games I saw Nalis play at Plymouth despite all the young whippersnappers around him - he is a most welcome addition.

I was very impressed with Nalis, especially after his poor showing v Plymouth youths.

JPM seemed to be permanently marked to me.

JPM and Nalis both played well. Cox and Paynter were superb as well. Was most impressed by the fact we didn't have to rely on Macca all the time though great stuff. He had space second half and if we had used it a bit more we may have got more.

Going forward yes he was good, but he drifts infield so often when the opposition attacks it does my head in as it leaves a huge gap.

Know what you mean Tails...but its obvious to me that JPM has to be used in a more attacking role,he cant be used as a defensive midfielder,anyway he scored one and it was his cross for Paynter to score so we cant really grumble about him can we!!

I agree Reg, from up in the Arkells I thought no one on the pitch was anywhere near Cox for MOM, yes there were some good performances but Cox was head and shoulders better than anyone on the pitch.

JPM for me was just average, drifting in and out of the game, never took his man on when he easily could, his crossing was pretty hit and miss as well, I admit I have only seen him play 5 times but if thats his best performance in a town shirt then he is the weakest link for me.

Nalis on the other hand was awesome and will be class at this level his vision and awareness of his team mates got better and better as the game went on.

Timlin pushed Cox for MOM imo, the lad looks to be in great shape, really benefitted from a first team pre season.  Nalis was very good too, awkward looking player but he gets the ball and does the simple stuff.  Timlin and Nalis put in some cracking tackles too.  Which was fantasticv. 

He scored one and set up another... What more does he have to do to get the fans on his side? I thought he was the best player on the pitch for the first 60 mins.

Having said that, I don't think i could choose our best player today. Cox, Paynter, Ifil, Nalis, Timlin, Macca and JPM were all superb.

p.s JPM played well for about 50/60mins, then stopped trying to take on his man.

He had a good game. We'll see how he is when teams get their tactics right and mark McNamee out of the game. Then the pressure will be on to deliver threatening balls every time.

JPM is a luxury player, IMO.  Granted, he had a good game in parts on Saturday, with his cross for the goal and his goal (being in the right place at the right time).  However his general positioning is awful, as he keeps drifting infield when the opposition have the ball, leaving 2-on-1s down our right a lot of the time.  The time he spent discussing/debating/arguing with Nalis about who should be picking up who is a bit disturbing for a professional player.  Even on a Sunday morning, the basics are simple - that you either mark someone throughout the game or if you go zonal, then stick in the zone and pick up the player that comes into it.

Timlin ws MOM for me and worked well with Nalis. 

JPM had a good game but it all got a bit close quarter and fiddly with Jack Smith in the second half and I thought we lost a bit of threat. Definitely an improvement on the end of last season though.

McGovern was better than last season. But after his goal, he looked like he was content to walk hand in hand with Jack Smith which was slightly annoying. Good cross for BP's goal.

I have to say I pretty much agree with most of that, it was disturbing to see him arguing with Nalis in front of the Arkells so often. All I want from JPM is to stay out wide and not drift inside as much leaving the right wing with no one on it for switching sides during attacks, and to actually take his player on, as when he actually did take the left back on he had the beating of him.
