Title: Fitton's ST offer
Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, August 9, 2008, 17:10:33
Well played the chairman, anybody wishing to buy a ST will get their Tranmere admission costs refunded if they purchase before Monday lunchtime.  Sitting in the DR stand that was about all we could hear at half time, the rest of the announcements were awful.  New PA system Mr Fitton?

Bizarrely I could hear it in the TE just fine, so probably moved the speakers across, or perhaps the wind was in the right direction.

Yeah thought that was a nice touch.  His speech at the beginning was rather moving too.

the arkells pa system was crystal clear where i was.and is a decent offer for sure on the season tickets.will secure a few but not enough to meet 6000.
write to or e-mail the club regarding the pa in the don.i'm sure they will address it

Funny that because I commented in the Arkells stand at the improvement in the PA system since the Pompey game, sounds like they only did one stand

Maybe they do read the boards then? Either that or maybe he's a National Trust member as well?

Only thing I understood over the PA system was the fact we were playing the ting tings at half time.

I think we all agree this is highly unacceptable and angry moaning e-mails will be sent to Mr. Watkins ASAP. I hope nothing like that will occur in my Swindon expirence ever again.

what was the purpose of the balloons? I was also in the DR stand and couldn't hear thing

the balloons contained matchday tickets, so people could use them towards season tickets - presumably people who weren't in the ground or for people to give to friends/mates/lovers...

they had all the on pitch stuff on radio swindon which was nice.

I reckon it'd be worth your while looking for a balloon SY, they seemed to be heading off to O*frodshire.

i liked what he said before the game, something about sponsored grounds changing names every few years but "old trafford will always be old trafford, and the county ground will always be the county ground".

Love him

The guy has so much respect from fans, yes he saved the club but he also seems to know what he is talking about as well. Was quite emotional when he was goiong through his rallying cry at the beginning saying Don Rogers is MR SWINDON TOWN and that SWINDON TOWN FC IS YOUR CLUB not mine, we are just here for the ride...

There was a nice touch in your 442 piece, Gazza, about the fans' favourite being Chairman Andrew Fitton.  Well put.

Well clearly I missed all this but I would like to point out that at 2.55 there were no pies left. Booooo. And also there was a queue of about 100 people after the game either buying ST's or buying QPR tickets.

Thanks. The guy deserves all the credit in the world. What he has done to our club in the space of 6-9 months is simply fantastic. Today for the first time at a game I had goosebumps looking forward to "a new era"

they do chicken burgers, and also chicken burger with cheese and bacon, and the food was lush!

Wouldn't go as far as saying the food was lush - but was definitely a hell of a lot better than it used to be!

Food was ok and the staff looked a bit happier etc and all in all better than last year. Food is never going to be fine cuisine at a football ground but a hell of an improvement.

The balloons had 2 S/T's attached to them.

I was in the DR and heard AF fine, I suspect he was using a different PA System as it seemed to be echoing around the ground unlike the usual PA System.

Far play to him, it is nice to hear a stfc chairman talking honestly knowing you can beleive what he is saying to you - can anyone remember that ever happening here ?, it was a shame that DR had his little speech cut by the applause of the players coming on the pitch though before the game.

It was also nice to hear Cox being interviewed after the game on the pitch which I thought was different.

1 last thing.....Simon Cox's goal celebration - was that the Cox(ed) rowing rather than the Cox(less) rowing  :D

I thought that it was the celebration for McGovern's goal.

they did it for the 2nd and 3rd goals, just for cox's goal only 2 of them did it. the rest stood around and looked a bit awkward :P

When Fitton said that "The fans are Swindon Town Football Club and Swindon Town Football Club is the fans" That kinda gave me goosebumps! Even when he was slagging off corperate business stadiums etc saying "old trafford will always be old trafford, st james' park will always be st james' park, The County Ground will always be the County Ground!"

What a contrast from last year!

You're quite right, even if you did manage to make it sound a tad homosexual.

Sorry guys, meant to say that I could hear AF loud and clear in the DR, also Coxy at the end, but that other announcer sounded as if he was pissed.  It could be a different pa system that AF used, if so that would explain it.

Apparently we are up to 5,400 now.

Can't remember where I heard this though so maybe take that with a pinch of salt.

Oh.

I also heard that Oxford sold 2,500 season tickets, which is respectable really, and probably about the same amount as Bristol Rovers.

Forever in our blackened hearts...
