I like Paphos, bit of night life but not as larey as ayai napa. Fair few historic ruins nearby if you're into that, and there are always the cruises to Egypt and if they still do them Israel.

my bro went out there end of may.loved the area and said the cruise was nice to egypt. but as soon as you get off the boat the natives are in your face shoving stuff in your hands and are a general pain in the arse, which completely spoils it.you go into pyramid they wait outside and hassle you continually.

Cheers Sutton, pretty much what i thought, which is a good thing.

You won't catch me going to Israel though. Free Palestine...

Can't remember the hotel name, but its not far from the bars and restaurants on the main street, and 10 mins from the Harbour, so it sounds ideally placed.

Yes they are sods, but worse in Israel. Right twisters, there was a really annoying older chavvy london couple on our cruise who knew everything. We saw them haggling at Alexandria for linen tea towels. They were boasting at dinner how they had really got a bargain on some towels and postcards of the pyramids, unwrapped them at the table, and some dirty holey cloth things fell out alongside some postcards of john major and the gpo tower. I didnt dry out for hours!

That's a top-notch hotel that is. But I stayed at Kefalos Beach Village which is next door.

If you're in Paphos then a trip to the Tomb of the Kings is a must, as is a short bus trip to Coral Bay.

Actual Paphos town itself doesn't have a lot because that's where the locals live, the nightlife is all in Kato Paphos which is the harbour and is generally a 15-20 minute walk from most of the hotels. There's a strip of bars that run right through that part of town.

I'm off there again on Wednesday, staying at the Mayfair this time. I stayed in Kato Paphos last time which I really enjoyed.

Barstreet is where the night life is at IMO, Harbour is a nice walk and you will find things to do there.

Like Sam saidTombs of the Kings is ace and Coral Bay is nice although I should imagine it will be full of school children at the moment. In October the bus from Kato was about 90c(Although they are in the euro now).

I will let you know if I find any other interesting things to do when I'm back.

Coral bay was immense way before the hotels. Shame really.

If you get the chance hire a car. Cyprus is an ace country.

My cousin has an apartment out in Paphos, so go out there quite a lot.

Avoid the dreaded timeshare touts- they hang around the harbour like flies around shit.

Coral bay is lovely- cheap as well to get too by local bus from Paphos. Best beach in the area.

Restaurants: Try Flambe on bar street- does not look great from outside but steaks are 1st class. Other restaurants worth trying are: The almond tree, Diana restaurant, for chinese phuket on tomb ofthe kings road is great.

Try anesis tours if you fancy any excursions- very reasonable prices.
