Post by: dell boy on Sunday, August 3, 2008, 14:58:19
Looked at the users on line and saw this message, wonder which thread is being reported to a mod?

I'd fucked up some permissions in the Match Day thread thing and the bots didn't even have to register. Stupid me. All sorted now. God i hate those cunty link building bots.

Forum Bots, such as Xrumer (http://www.botmaster.net/more1/), are programs that essentially automate the registration and posting process for forums inlcuding access by proxy, using proxy scraping, scraping Wikipedia and blogs, scraping RSS feeds and automatic generation of gmail accounts and activation.

The owners of the bots can fill up the bot with predefined posts, or allow it to post scraped content, and then using created information the bot will access forums and use them for backlinks (links pointing to sites they are promoting using keyword rich anchor text) and also promote via pm based spam.

I prefer to consider them as miniature sized robots formed from Spam tins.

They are pesky little buggers and usually seem to be Russian selling various pharacuticals or the latest Celeb you'd like to see naked.

A spambot could show me Johnny Vegas naked? Cool, where do I sign up?
