TrustSTFC have managed to strike a deal with the publishers of Lou Macari's upcoming book and they have allowed us to sell Lou's book through the Trust.

RRP is £18.99 but we are able to sell it at £15 + P & P (unless you want to collect it) this is published on 16 August.

After leaving United in 1984, Macari moved into management with Swindon Town, leading the Wiltshire club to back-to-back promotions. It was there, however, that Macari was implicated in a betting scandal which, although he was later fully exonerated, blighted his managerial career. Lou went on to battle the whims of tyrannical chairmen at West Ham, Birmingham, Stoke, in his dream job at Celtic, then finally at Huddersfield.

Football had one final blow for this eternal fans' favourite though, when one of his three professional football-playing sons, Jonathan, committed suicide when a youngster at Nottingham Forest. The tragedy still tears his family apart.

In his long-awaited autobiography, Lou Macari tells with typical candour of football then and of football now, of the glory days and the truth behind the scandals, and of the perils that threaten the beautiful game today. It is a story like no other.

I think that it could be a very interesting read.Lou has always come accross as being very
straight forward and i'd expect the same in his autobiography.

Book released 16 Aug, not heard of any book signings lined up, have spoken to the publishers and they have not mentioned anything and we have discussed several things....so I wopuldn't bank on Borders...unless the Publishers just not telling me of course.

 Borders is the bastard offspring of a US company....which has now been flogged to a UK venture capital company...it's sole remit being to make profit for its shareholders.

 With this in mind, its closed several of its in town stores to concentrate on it's shopping mall outlets...throw in its links with Starbucks, and you have US foreign policy tailored to retailing.

 Both help drive the small independent to the wall, and enhance the ubiquitous conformity of shoping in England.  I feel a trip to Hay on Wye coming on.

...but more importantly than all that, it is a pretty good place to pick up high calibre chicks.

Wouldn't mind working there to be honest with you.

 Think it's coffee they drink....well a sort of milky frothy stuff, its all the rage apparently, a generation raised on Friends. I don't get it either.

I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed to ask that. If you didn't get the job you could claim it was because of your sexual orientation. Much like they aren't allowed to ask how old you are or if you are female if you are pregnant or planning on starting a family.

had a chat with that ol legend Lou in the Legends Lounge before the QPR game last night - he was in good spirits - didnt fancy our chances last night (reading between the lines) but he seemed very happy to be there - and sold a few copies of his book too.

Oh and he ruled out ever coming back -- but then said then well never say never. Good ol Lou.

We really don't need Lou back though Fatters, that ship has sailed.  Fair play for him coming back though for the book signing.

not at the mo we dont - with "Magic" Malpas here - but when the day comes that Magic is whisked off to pastures new by someone Lou is exactly the kind of replacement we would need .. true legend

Completely disagree, the game has moved on from Lou's days, that would be a massive backward step imo.

Doesn't anyone remember the very limited style of play under Macari?

I know it was effective but it was a bit dull at times. It took Ossie to transform Alan Mac into a goalscoring wizard, and Zippy from a dodgy non-league full back into an all action raiding wing back.

If he came back as manager then it would be disaster. If he came back as Chief Scout or Director of Football it wouldn't be. Or if he was Asst Mgr to a young player manager. The guy is a legend and long may it continue.

Nah as people have said that ship has sailed he's had his day and wouldn't be ofay to all the new technical changes and sports science stuff.

How much was the club charging for the book out of interest, anyone know ?

15 quid tho I think it was the publishers rather than the club
