Title: Marshall Post by: leefer on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 15:20:20 Having been working in Devon for 2 days was talking to some Torquay fans about the Pre season tournament involving themselfs Eastleigh, and Palace,Marshall was the outstanding player and player of the tournament so lets hope we snap him up....not really a gamble...incidently Eastleigh beat Torquay in the final on Pens,Marshall scoring one of them.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 15:46:58 Good stuff, I think he looked quite a handy looking player.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 15:57:45 He was very good at Hampton, certainly worth a punt, be quite disappointed if we didn't a least give him a year.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Panda Paws on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 15:58:49 At the end of the day he's gunna cost next to nothing and wont demand much of a wage, there's very little risk in offering him a one year deal, which is exactly what I think will happen
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 16:03:32 At the end of the day he's gunna cost next to nothing and wont demand much of a wage, there's very little risk in offering him a one year deal, which is exactly what I think will happen Agreed - is he under some sort of contract at Eastleigh - bah give em a friendly next Summer. To begin with, he'd give a little bit more extra to come on in the latter stages of games. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 16:09:03 He does sound like another attacking option we are lacking on the right, he seems to want to play for us, MM likes the look of him....I guess its all down to money now....how much he (or his agent) rates himself in the wages department.
He cant be on more than £300 a week playing part time at that level so a little extra wages wise will be enough, as he seems to want to break into the full time leagues. I also read he got man of the match against Torquay having run them ragged, I guess it also comes down to wether any other teams come in with an offer for him as well. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 16:47:33 I think we should take a gamble on a 12 month deal tbh.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Batch on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 21:25:08 Based only on the Pompey match (which is unfair) I say don't bother.
But he has to have something about him that I haven't seen. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: axs on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 22:50:18 I thought he did OK at the pompey game. I'd want to see him play again before offering a contract though.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: strooood on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 23:15:35 whats the point?
we do this everytime... ben martin, lloyd opara, darren dykes, onibuje, mohammed... i could go on...in which the players are just not up to par, if he was anything special he wouldve showed it in the friendlies, nowhere near as good as what we've got let alone better. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 23:17:33 bollocks strood, he was my mom at hampton, i reckon he cold be lethal as a sub with 20 minutes to go. definately worth a contract
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: DV on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 23:33:04 whats the point? we do this everytime... ben martin, lloyd opara, darren dykes, onibuje, mohammed... i could go on...in which the players are just not up to par, if he was anything special he wouldve showed it in the friendlies, nowhere near as good as what we've got let alone better. In a way I agree, these 'development' players will only improve if they play regular football....which they dont for us. They sit in the reserves and dont progress..... I havent seen alot of Marshall but unless hes ready to play first team football I'd be agaisnst signing him. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: suttonred on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 06:35:11 bollocks strood, he was my mom at hampton, i reckon he cold be lethal as a sub with 20 minutes to go. definately worth a contract Ditto, and looks like he might as mm is talking to an unnamed MF today. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: LucienSanchez on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 08:19:57 He looked good against Hampton, because that may be his level? Only suggesting, like...
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 08:37:36 the thing was at hampton he pinged in as many good crosses as macnamee, he hasnt got his skill but he is so fast bring him on against a tiring full back and he will create shit loads.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: broomfield on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 09:54:53 His agent is Fitzroy Simpson. He was at last nights game. One of the few people sat in the Directors box.
He said that both parties are still very keen to get something sorted out. He said that Yeovil are also keen, but that may just be 'Agent talk' for get your arse in gear Malpas! Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 10:23:04 the thing was at hampton he pinged in as many good crosses as macnamee, he hasnt got his skill but he is so fast bring him on against a tiring full back and he will create shit loads. That's good to hear, because against Pompey (to me) he looked very quick, quick enough to beat a player or two, but then didn't have the quality to put in a dangerous cross. If he can actually deliver a final ball then that puts a different slant on it. McNamee doesn't always do fancy dan stuff. He can also whip in a good ball by making a bit of space and crossing without beating his man. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Bogus Dave on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 10:33:10 his final ball against portsmouth was shit
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Bob's Orange on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 14:11:07 his final ball against portsmouth was shit Why would you just concentrate on the last pass he made. What about the other passes? Title: Re: Marshall Post by: suttonred on Thursday, July 31, 2008, 09:04:26 his final ball against portsmouth was shit You've got to allow for nerves in these situations, I remember Fitzroy's first ever touch, he trod on the ball and ate turf, he turned out all right.Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, July 31, 2008, 09:13:01 And also you have to remember that this lad was desperate to impress his prospective new employers (Swindon) playing in a team 3 divisions higher than he played last season and 2 divisions higher than he has ever played, and he was up against a team playing in Europe this season, I think he was just trying too hard to impress and when he was up against Hampton he was more settled with most of his impetuousnous gone after his first ever appearance. You Also cant discount nerves for the Pompey game.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Power to people on Thursday, July 31, 2008, 09:54:29 I wonder with Malpas looking at this other player that can play wide right, left or up front that means he is not planning on signing Marshall now ?
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, July 31, 2008, 10:08:21 I think Marshall is on the backburner in case the Championship Winger does not sign for us.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Crozzer on Saturday, August 2, 2008, 14:40:05 I think Marshall is on the backburner in case the Championship Winger does not sign for us. That would make sense, but that may not happen, so this town needs a marshall. Title: Re: Marshall Post by: nevillew on Monday, August 4, 2008, 10:30:18 Predicted Adver Headline "Marshall rides into Town"
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 07:23:48 Seems to have gone very quiet on Marshall - I wonder if he won't be signing then ?
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 07:25:33 It'll depend whether we sign Betsy or not.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: wheretherealredsare on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 07:32:34 Or ... what if, as speculated elsewhere (Who's leaving?), JPM goes to Luton mayhap and we get Betsy AND Marshall?
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: broomfield on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 09:42:45 Had a chance of another chat with Fitzroy last night. He said that he was putting off cals from Bournemouth and Yeovil over Marshall. He really wants him to come to Swindon and will be talking to MM today to finally sort it out.
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 09:58:47 I'd like to see him play for us than against us, so if it does fall through hope he goes to bournemouth
Title: Re: Marshall Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 12:09:28 In the adver MM says he may not be allowed any more money...so the deal may be dead
