There are better pubs, but for closeness to the stationness, the GW is all good. My favourite review is of a pub near me, just says if you are lost coming out of the train station, just follow the smell of piss, you'll soon find it!

Last time I was in there he was acting as a sound man for the band that was playing, except they didn't seem too keen on his nob twiddling. Also, it has a beer garden of sorts.
