Post by: leefer on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, 16:41:13 O,FORTUNA....this has got to be the best piece of music ive ever heard,after hearing it on countless advertisements (think it was on a old spice ad years ago)..i decided to find out what its all about,so hear goes. The music we hear is just part of it and it was written by German composer Carl Orff relatively recent in 1937...what suprised me was the latin translation is very fruity and origanally found in a German monastery by monks in 1803,and was a vast collection of ancient poems going back to the 12th century,Orff just took 28 of them.In ancient times its said that men who entered the monastery would have one last juicy thaught before entering the church and alot of the poems are of drunkeness and sex! Ime no good at posting songs etc from youtube or such but if you get a chance to hear it give it a go...its brilliant especially the singing.

It remember well when it was used in the movie excalibur. A Very powerful song. |
