Congrats.

Firstly it's clearly your Mrs fault for saying yes. She should have played the headache card.

Secondly, don't hold your baby over your head while lying on a sofa. Particularly if the have eaten less than 30 minutes previous. And definitely not while making a "weeeeeee" sound whilst jiggling him/her up and down, no matter how much baby is smiling. A mouth full of baby sick is not recommend

Thirdly there is no instruction manual for babies. Mother nature didn't think that one through. But all the worries of sleepless nights, dirty nappies, etc, etc aren't as bad as you'd think. You get through it.

Lastly, enjoy it. When they say time flies they mean it.

Only tips i can give are, choose the side of the bed furthest from the door, and never be afraid to "play possum" when they wake up at 3am.

Think it's a bit inevitable that the whole period of time involving pregnancy, the consequences of child birth and being a new mother, take a physical toll on a woman, which is why I'd recommend to a fella that he puts himself about a bit and doesn't take on fatherhood until at least late 20's or even as in my case early 30's

I've already informed her that if she decides to drop while I'm at the game she will be required to hold on until the game is finshed so I don't miss the game or the birth.....went down really well as well !!!

to be honest, if the tannoy man came on and said

'this is an important message for Mr. Power to people (or your real name!) your wife has gone into labour and is on her way to the hospital'

Would you even hear it? Probably not, more importantly would her indoors believe you didnt hear it because the speaker system is crap

I became a Dad almost 6 weeks ago. I'm living in a kind of haze at the moment through lack of sleep. But, back at work tomorrow so will be able to sleep all night with the Mrs doing all the hard work.

It really is an amazing feeling, and although its tough, you do get through it. Time has flown so far, so I'm eagerly awaiting our first kick about!

Isn't Paternity leave wage crap, I've been looking it up and £110 a week is just a joke, all this about they want the fathers to have more rights etc but they don't make it affordable unless you use your hols from work.....

Nice to hear from someone that is going through it I am imagining all sorts awaits me.....

Brace yourself for some mean hormonal mood swings whilst your misses is pregnant p2p, just a heads up like.

But yeah, congrats and all that as being a father is wicked. I know that even should something happen between my wife and I in the future then my daughter will ALWAYS be my little girl, and nothing in the world can change that. Maybe that is what makes fatherhood that bit special.

It won't be easy, but it is worth it.

Good luck and congrats again.
