Title: Firefox 3 Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:19:45 Been using the Beta for months. Seems about the same as Firefox 2 to me.
Title: Firefox 3 Post by: flammableBen on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:21:50 Uses a fair bit less memory when you've got a few tabs open which is nice, especially on my decade old machine.
Think the site renderer has had a complete overhaul, haven't noticed things being displayed much differently. The magic address bar is pretty ace. Title: Firefox 3 Post by: flammableBen on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:22:26 Oh and it seems more stable too. Don't think it's crashed once, not even the betas. Firefox 2 used to dies quite often.

Firefox 2 used to dies quite often. I noticed that, thats why I got rid of FF2 and went to IE7 which was quite shite, also used netscape which was good as it had a spell checker on forms. I Dare say there is something similar for firefox Title: Firefox 3 Post by: flammableBen on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:35:33 Didn't Netscape die horribly ages ago? And then the opensource engine bit (the mozilla bit?) go towards firefox? or some random order of stuff? All these random things get confusing.
Yeah, I think the default first run start up page for firefox asks if you want to install a spell checker. Title: Firefox 3 Post by: Batch on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:49:27 I hate the "awsome bar".
Thankfully the oldbar addon gets rid https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6227 Title: Firefox 3 Post by: flammableBen on Monday, June 23, 2008, 17:50:04 Doesn't that just change the look, it still works the same new way?

Title: Firefox 3 Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 23, 2008, 18:41:16 If you're using FF3, type about:robots in the address bar and hit enter.

No doubt within a few weeks they'll all be sorted though and i can be happy. I keep getting told Opera is the new king, but i found FF has so few shortfalls, i see no reason to change. To be fair, that's probably why i'll stay on 2 for ever and a day.
Title: Firefox 3 Post by: ron dodgers on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 15:54:13 can't seem to use ebay with FF2 - hope FF3 works better
Title: Firefox 3 Post by: janaage on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 16:07:01 Could someone just give a summary as to what all this means? I honestly don't have a clue.
Wasn't Clint Eastwood in Firefox (where he stole the chopper from the Ruskies), that's as far as my knowledge goes. Title: Firefox 3 Post by: BANGKOK RED on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, 16:12:07 I got a bit excited thinking that there was a new FF, until I looked up and noticed that I already have FF3. I s'pose it must have updated automatically without me noticing.
That'll explain why it stopped crashing on me! Wasn't Clint Eastwood in Firefox (where he stole the chopper from the Ruskies), that's as far as my knowledge goes. it's an open source (code is available to use) interweb browser, not so prone to security hacks (so far) like microsoft's IE . I remember that film - he nicked the latest MIG fighter (equipped with thought control) so he had to think of Boris Spassky to launch the missiles and then he ditched it in a lake that froze over and then the world was saved. |
