For those who haven't seen the email sent to Trust members at the weekend, we're looking for volunteers to help out with the stall/stand/display thingy the club will have at the Swindon Festival in Faringdon Rd Park on Saturday evening. Volunteers needed from 6-10.30pm although the busy times are expected to be from 6-8pm.

Ideal opportunity for those who "hope we'll make 6K but don't think we will" to help make their hope a reality  :D

When IS the Euro final. If it's not the same time as glastonbury I'll be ok to help.

  You could do a stall at Glastonbury.....convince the punters that they'll get free half time space cake, if they buy a season ticket.

Half-time canapes would be a more likely draw the way Glastonbury is these days Reg

Is it alright to just turn up and help?

Im not sure I trust putting my name on a list in case im already 3 sheets which is quite likely at that time on a saturday.

Paul have the club considered getting involved with the Oasis, they have Jimmy Carr there later this month (30th June I think) so if for example they put a season ticket leaflet on all of the 3000 odd seats then it would get a message across.  Plus do they have some kind of presence at Speedway at the moment, as again its a large crowd of people that could be targeted.

Fair comment. We could do with at least some idea of how many (if any) people are going to turn up on the evening so we can let the club know, but I'm sure it won't be a problem if a couple of random extras show as well. I'll try and ascertain exactly where/when by Sat morning and post details then for the waverers.

Not to my knowledge but I'll put the idea forward.


The club had a team leafletting etc for Target 6K there last week I believe

I won't be around to help. I would have liked to but I might not be back from where I'm going. If I am I might wander down because it's not very far.

OK, so people who want to help out with this should meet up with Sam B at the Faringdon Rd entrance to the park, opposite Cambria Bridge Rd at 6pm. Depending on how many people we get/how many people are needed on the stall, it'll likely be a combination of staffing the stall itself, telling people about the ST offer etc and wandering round handing out leaflets. Anyone know how this went???

We got bored and went to the pub and then went and played poker round axs' house.

basically Sam, Nicki and Si had already leafleted everyone by the time we got there so we wandered around looking for new people and then got distracted by the beer tent and the man with fire.

I think the setup with the goal for kids to take penalties was a better idea, got a few families around there.

Got a few positive responses, a lot simply weren't interested. Unsurprisingly, I think a lot of people who like football were watching the euros.

After wandering around two or three times trying to spot any new people who had turned up, it got a bit boring  :o

Thanks to everyone who turned up. Special mention to John for a) turning up looking all dapper in his shirt and tie combo and b) focusing solely on the youth, especially those of the female variety.

pretty sure I was approaching young boys as well.

Oh well when you put it like that ...
