Title: Hooray!! Post by: herthab on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 08:43:42 Euros start today and whilst they obviously haven't got the interest they would had England (And to a much lesser degree, scotland) been there, we should still be able to see some great games.
As well as taking over Turkey in the Euro Stunners (Thanks Axs) I was also unlucky enough to pull them out of the bag at my locals promotion (For every game Turkey win, I get a free pint, for every draw it's a half. I'm not expecting to get more than a half tbh!) Due to this, I've put a tenner on the Turks to beat Portugal today :? Come on you Turks!!!!!! Title: Hooray!! Post by: leefer on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 08:50:22 Dont think youl be drinking to much then herthab!!
Title: Hooray!! Post by: Nemo on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 09:07:49 Should get at least a half from the Swiss game.
Got a few bets on this...Romania or the Czechs to win, Villa top scorer/Germany win double, Mario Gomez top scorer and Austria come bottom (Safe bet that one) Should make it more fun. Title: Hooray!! Post by: lebowski on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 09:56:38 It will be strange to watch a major championship without having a team to support. Now I know what it's like to be Scottish.
What will be interesting though is to be able to sit back and study the football being played, and then decide if the standard is better in the Champion's League. Title: Hooray!! Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 12:17:29 i'm looking forward to this slightly more than if england were there.
i've drawn romania and poland in the work sweepstake; romania haven't a chance in their group so i'm supporting polska. Title: Hooray!! Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 12:19:22 I got Croatia in the sweepstakes and I also have them in the stunners competition, so I'm supporting them.
Title: Hooray!! Post by: lebowski on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 16:50:47 Martin O'Neil is among the pundits on the bbc. Woooooo.
This is offset entirely by having Shearer sat next to him. Booooooo. Title: Hooray!! Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 16:56:33 Martin o'neill is one of my favourite men in football at the moment
Title: Hooray!! Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 18:13:00 Martin O'Neill is a shit football pundit and I don't think the fact it takes him 5 minutes to make his point (if he makes one at all) is particularly amusing.
Get Strachan back into the pundit seat, he was far far better. Title: Hooray!! Post by: Bogus Dave on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 18:13:53 Strachans doing some sort of pitch-side punditry-ITV knock off thing for bbc i think
Title: Hooray!! Post by: Simon Pieman on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 18:20:28 Yeah he was on earlier. He was just better at analysing the game than say Alan Hansen.

Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 19:13:41 BBC coverage was a bit snobby at the beginning - moaning about this and that.
We didn't qualify - deal with it. Title: Hooray!! Post by: flammableBen on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 19:22:52 Why didn't you submit your team then you amateur?
Title: Hooray!! Post by: magic8ball on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 19:34:28 David Pleat makes Mark Bright's punditry look good.
Title: Hooray!! Post by: Rich Pullen on Saturday, June 7, 2008, 19:38:16 Good old ITV - Suggesting Portugal have a rich history in International competitions :-))(
However, Portugal should beat Turkey on the basis of the first half. Title: Hooray!! Post by: lebowski on Sunday, June 8, 2008, 17:24:14 Look at the old school style footballs that they are using

Title: Hooray!! Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, June 8, 2008, 18:01:40 Croatia were shite for vast periods of the game. Played a bit like England in the sense that they made a very poor team look decent.
Three poor games thus far - hopefully the Germans and the Polish can get the competition going. Title: Hooray!! Post by: Samdy Gray on Sunday, June 8, 2008, 18:03:19 3 games so far, 3 wins on the betting. 8)

Although Croatia were a bit average....they still managed to do the most basic things right.....unlike England who conceded two important goals eg Neville og ( courtsey of Robinson) and Krancar (courtesy of Carson) that you'd probably not expect to see in the Conference. and mario gomez sucks! Title: Hooray!! Post by: reeves4england on Sunday, June 8, 2008, 21:44:58 Their defence did get broken a few times, Poland were just too crap to capitalise on it. The Germany vs Croatia match could be entertaining end-to-end football based on their performances today
*awaits dull 0-0* Title: Re: Hooray!!
