Title: The SPL
Post by: STFC4LIFE on Thursday, May 22, 2008, 09:19:52
How many times do they play eachother in a season?

How can a league containing 12 teams end with each team playing 38 games?

I'm confused.

Post by: janaage on Thursday, May 22, 2008, 09:43:58
They play each other 3 times, (33 in total) then the league splits into top half 6 bottom half 6, where they play each other once (5 matches) equalling 38.

PS Come on Celtic!!!!

Great to see Rangers come unstuck again, so that's 2 out of 2 in the last week they've managed to fuck up.  One to go.

Come on the Doonhamers, how I'd love to see "Queen of the South" on the cup come Saturday evening!!!!

Well done to the Tim's!!!!!!!

3 in a row.

Almost as enjoyable as seeing Motherwell pip Hibernian to the uefa cup place

Motherwell pipped Dundee Utd for that ages ago, unfortunately Hibs were terribly average this season, we were no where near the UEFA spot, and deservedly so.  I suppose that's what happens when you raise decent young Scottish stars of the future and they get poached by the old firm, year after year.

I wonder if Steven Fletcher will make that move to Real Madrid that being mooted?  I bet he won't be playing for Hibs come August!

Steven Fletcher is very very good have been impressed with him when I have seen him this season, would be fantastic to see him at Madrid  8)

Well if he has to leave, despite the fact I personally detest Real Madrid, I wouldn't mind seeing him go there.  It'd make a change to him going to keep the bench warm at Ibrox or Parkhead.

Best of luck to the lad whatever he chooses to do, just hope he doesn't make a bug mistake like Garry O'Connor did the other year!

I kinda hope he does go to Madrid. Better to warm their (youth team) bench than rot at Ibrox or Parkhead.

Id still hate the facist cunts mind!

Nah, serious. He was watched by real madrid scouts and rated as one of the top ten young prospects in europe apparantly   But then again, David Goodwillie turned down a move to Barcalona and he hasnt exactly been amazing. Watch out for John Fleck though

Hearts were utter mince this season, I watched a couple of games on Santa and they were hopeless! Romanov has clearly rocked the boat and something is definately wrong at the club.

Mark Mcghee has been approached to be the new manager, to be honest if I was him I would stay at Motherwell!

Hibs did ok really, battling for 3rd is the best we can really hope for.

I went to see Hearts twice last season, 4-1 win against Rangers and a 1-1 draw with Celtic! I seem to be their lucky charm, the season I had a season ticket, we won the cup and nearly broke the Old Firm dominance!

I'll keep this within the SPL thread -

Just wanted to say fair play to Mark McGhee from rejecting a move to the Jambos to stay at Fir Park.  Don't really like the fella that much but good to see a manager getting a bout of loyalty and staying at the club.

Slightly off topic Jan but when is someone going to take a punt on Mcoist as a manager?

Or is he being lined up to replace Smith?

Title: The SPL
Post by: janaage on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, 16:24:25
Not sure if McCoist is that interested in managing on his own.  He's obviously a decent enough bloek, seems to be a good laugh, maybe he doesn't want the pressure of being a full time boss - can't blame him if that's the case.

For a 'ger he's not a bad bloke, I really have a lot of time for Ally, legendary player, always gave it 100%.

But I'm not sure tbh DRS.
