I fancy Chelsea to win this with Drogba being the reason why.

Both Rooney and Vidic have been giving him some stick the last two days and you would of thought they would of seen what happened when Benitez done that 2 weeks ago

Will Drogba be fit?

Tevez, Ronaldo and Rooney - you just can't see United not scoring.

If it wasn't for that awful backpass at SB, they wouldn't have scored.

And the two cleared off the line of course ....

Interesting betting for the final - 90 minutes only from Bet365

Man Utd 6/4
Chelsea 9/4
Draw 2/1

Back any two and win money .... seems very generous.

Plus Stamford Bridge is very different to Moscow, it will be a very different game to then.  Could actually be a good game if Chelsea go out to win rather than go out to stifle Man U's tyle i.e like last years FA cup final, I hope Man U edge it  8)

Does anybody actually give a shit?

I can't get myself interested at all. As I don't have sky my only live televised football other than the the odd FA Cup game is the Champions League, so I've tried to get myself to be bothered but I can't. I can't be arsed to watch it most weeks. Even when I'm the only one in the living room and I could sit and watch it I find myself flicking through channels in boredom.

Just tell the sad cases, that ManUre have never won at the CG, whereas Swindon have won at Old Trafford...should shut them up.

Is that usual for this kind of event?  Back two horses and still come out on top???

If I were a Man Utd fan I'd back Chelsea and the draw big time, then you're either down a few quid but champions of europe or have some money to drown your sorrows.

Which is why you back Chelsea or the draw, you still come out on top, unless Utd win (and therefore as a Utd fan) and you win the cup.

That's right isn't it?

Spot on. Quite often I watch the first 20 minutes of the match, just to see the away followings and get a feel for the game then turn it off.

It was a special event. They just about got away with two teams from the major leagues. But as soon as it went to 4 or even 5, it just became a complete joke, a Euro League by proxy. Classic example of money men in charge of football. Fair play to Platini saying he wanted a Champs League place for the FA Cup. But it doesnt suit the big clubs agenda so it doesnt happen. Could the top 4 be anymore cosy up there? Whole thing makes me sick.

Plus there is the fact we play the same style of football as everyone else in Europe now. Theres nothing special about our game apart from weve got more money.

It gets worse...

FANS STRANDED BY CANCELLED FLIGHT

More than 200 football fans have been stranded at Gatwick airport after their flight to Moscow for the final of the Champions League was cancelled.

The 224 Chelsea supporters had planned to fly to Russia on a special charter flight, leaving the airport's south terminal at 0555 BST.

An airport spokesman said a technical problem caused the cancellation.

Some of the fans have left the airport because they are too late to get to the match, which starts at 1945 BST.

Manchester United and Chelsea are competing to become the European champions in the competition's first all-England final.

From what I've read Nev it seems the plane was a "special" laid on by 224 chelsea fans.  Which explains why, if it was a standard airline charter, why they couldn't just use another plane from their fleet.

More from Gatwick gate

Nick Morrow from Glasgow (Chelsea fan) "All hell broke loose for a short period of time but I have to say the police did a decent job of controlling it, they weren't aggressive, and by and large people behaved quite well. I've spent, well, the cost of the ticket, the charge for my ticket was £680. On top of that I had my match ticket, return flights from Scotland which have now cost me £200, a night at the Gatwick Hilton hotel which was £140, and I just feel at the moment like I don't even want to watch the game. I can't believe it's going to happen without me being there."

i find it hilarious that people keep trying to put him down, fact is he is the best player in the world, top scorer in the best league in the world and top scorer in the biggest european competition, not back for a right winger who apparently does fuck all  :P

hes a demolisher of the poorer teams. Better teams tend to mark him, and most of his goals against the bigger teams come with his head. Hes a good player no doubt about that, but messi's better

Watched the first half in the bar but got the car so radio for the rest of it. If Man U don't win I'll be disappointed. Chelsea are functional, fit and as boring as hell.  The only magic has come from Ronaldo - shame Rooney hasn't stepped up to the plate.  Tevez and Carrick should have put this way beyond Chelsea.  Sounds like Chelsea are grinding their way to another boring win

I'd argue that football is a team sport and the Messi has been kind of let down.

Ronaldo is the best player in the Prem by a long way - but the world? I'm personally not sure.

messi did as much as could be asked for, it was others that let him down. You could say the same for ronaldo pretty much. If he didn't have such a good team around him he wouldn't ave scored half as many goals this season

because theyre too busy setting up ronaldo.

To be honest this could just go on all night. It depends what you deem necessary to be the best in the world. You can judge just by statistics, and i'll admit ronaldos are phenomanal, but he just lacks that something. Best player in the world for me needs to be someone who when the chips are down and the odds stacked against them, they turn the match with a piece of individual brilliance, in the big games.

Don't like Chelsea or Man Utd but I do find it ironic that a dodgy pitch ultimately decides the champions league final, you'd think with all the money spent on the competition they could provide a pitch that doesn't give way when someone takes a penalty. Penalty spots and England captains don't seem to be a good combination in shoot outs

Great game, and ive never been more excited watching a pen shootout between two teams i have no care in the world about!

To answer all the questions:

Ronaldo is the best player in the world - he has scored 42 goals, played better than any other player, won the league and the champions league. You dont get better than that.

Pitch may have been shit, but both teams have to play on it.

Grant did a fair job, but with all that money you expect to win at least one cup - even if it is just the league cup.

I think Chelsea are just the latest victims of the English press at the moment to be honest and thats why the likes of Lampard and Terry are getting a lot of stick as its not like their out partying or setting a bad example. The papers start vendettas to cause controversy and to shift papers, but from what I saw tonight Chelsea aren't the boring team that the press make them out to be and they played some decent stuff at times. The press influence peoples opinions and next season they'll probably move on to some other team to stir up trouble.

Man City are the real European Champions as they did the double over United last season.

But team in the Europe my arse!  :D

Good game better than I had thought it would be. I thought the game changed after half time when Chelsea started to play football through Lampard and Ballack in midfield who then controlled the game

I don't get why everyone hates Ronaldo. Personally, I think he's a class act and I like him quite a lot.

Lampard i agree Terry you are Joking he is out clubbing getting pissed the day before the final game against bolton he is riding quad bikes through london with no helmet and he openely admitted that the day after dislocating his elbow he was on the bouncy castle because he did not want to miss the fun. I am glad Man utd won i hate everything chelsea stand for.

Oh and why was terry not that gutted when England went out the tosser.

Good morning anyway

He's a great talent but just over exaggerates everything. He's so bloody arrogant.

Great to see John Terry blubbing last night.  Like JPC said JT wanted the glory and he got it from the Utd fans.  No sympathy for Chelsea at all, it was a very close match, both teams had great chances to win it but Utd tucked their pens away and so deserved it.

Ronaldo is the luckiest man in the world though, even when he makes mistakes he gets away with it, fair play to the bloke!

Always the worst team that win penalties. Very undeserved, hope they win nothing next year.

Absolute tosh, Manchester United should have won that by half time, Tevez will be having nightmares about his misses (not his Mrs).  Yeah Chelsea played better in the second half but Utd stuck in there, to say it was an undeserved victory is a little harsh.

Erm, no he's not. He didn't have his best game last night, but he was far from the most ineffectual player on the pitch. Rooney anyone?

Oh and Ballack is an overrated cunt..............

Talking of "aunts" (predictive text for the c word), how good was it to see Drogba red carded, superb, could not happen to a better bloke.  My mate I was watching it with said if he were Drogba he'd have lumped Vidic after being sent off.  I said if I were a Chelsea player I'd have lumped Drogba after the match  -  Talk about letting your team mates/club down.

Having said all that I do wish players could take a little slap and get on with it rugby style) rather than this stupid "raise your hands" and your off way of playing the game.

Ballack played well until he got anywhere near the area, where he kept deciding it was only fair to give United a goal kick by blasting it as far away from the goal frame as possible

watched it in Walkabout last night. United had it in the 1st half until Lampard 3 deflection goal. United should of have been 3up. Chelsea dominated 2nd half onwards and the loss was undeserved. but John Terry miss was priceless.
