Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 11:35:24 I've been really wound up by a couple of comments I've seen reference our friendly at Hardenhuish Park this summer - by all accounts a good few of their supporters are disappointed by it and would have preferred Bristol City.
Yes, I've taken the bait. Yes, many CTFC are Bristol City fans that lurk in the shadows waiting for something good to happen - but jesus, does this prove that beggers can be choosers! Quote from: "CTFC Fan" Would be worth a shot, esp if they do reach the Premier. No disrespect to Swindon, but a PREMIERSHIP City side would fill HP to capacity. Grrr. Quote from: "CTFC Fan" Dont think a friendly against Swindon would do much for the coffers, probably OK for Adie to watch triallists. What? Quote from: "CTFC Fan" I think would be much better then playing Swindon if we were and able to get Bristol City up to Hardenhuish Park worth a try! Because at Chippenham the fans arrange the friendlies?!?! Quote from: "CTFC Fan" Watching Swindon Town Bores me ZZZ. Fuck off. I for one am glad they didn't get promoted. Rant over. :D Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Luci on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 11:38:21 Chippenham is a dump of a club anyway. :D

Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: pumbaa on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 11:48:26 I think I've mentioned before that my cousin runs the 'shop' there. Being a Chippenham fella myself, I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the attitude. But then my home town does have more than its fair share of spastics.
In all honesty though, would Bristol City bring along a first team 'Premiership' * squad for a pre-season friendly at Chippenham? Somehow I think not..... * [assumption]they make the premiership[/assumption] Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 11:48:47 They just have a chip on their shoulder because I suspect a large proportion of their potential fan base (those that watch live football) will probably go and watch Swindon.
The best way to express your anger would be to turn up at HP and show them up. Haven't we got Pompey too? I thought we had both FA Cup finalists. Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 14:20:58 We do - I was just using those two teams as an example.
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 18:35:10 Their ground is a dump considering the level they play at.
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: leefer on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 19:42:17 Chippenham Town.....the film Deliverance comes to mind!
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 19:44:33 I'm pretty much over that now :D
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 21:23:52 I couldn't give a fuck about Chippenham. I don't know why some people on here do really :soapy tit wank:
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Spencer_White on Monday, May 19, 2008, 18:08:58 And to be fair we do put reserve sides out against Chippenham twice a season, so its only natural that they would fancy playing other local league sides.
But you do worry, because Chippenham should be rock solid STFC support (like Melksham), but it isnt. He followed Swindon all the time during the 1960's and up to about 2000 - used to do a fair bit the the away travel when he worked for Silver Knight coaches too. I think he's only been once this season and that was the first in a long time.
Just one of the many that abandoned STFC during that era and I doubt he'll ever go back - he's one of many sadly. Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, May 19, 2008, 18:35:27 Mind you ours weren't much better. The "we're the straight side over here" chant was a great display of witticism.
Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Tails on Monday, May 19, 2008, 19:15:06 Chippenham? I'd have preffered a friendly against CONFERENCE SOUTH Bath City. Chippenhams only a team full of our youth team rejects, so why would we want to see them grace the County Ground again?
Hahahahaha we win. |
