Title: Ungrateful Chippenham Town fans Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, May 18, 2008, 11:35:24 I've been really wound up by a couple of comments I've seen reference our friendly at Hardenhuish Park this summer - by all accounts a good few of their supporters are disappointed by it and would have preferred Bristol City.
Yes, I've taken the bait. Yes, many CTFC are Bristol City fans that lurk in the shadows waiting for something good to happen - but jesus, does this prove that beggers can be choosers! Being a Chippenham fella myself, I can't help but feel a little disappointed in the attitude. But then my home town does have more than its fair share of spastics.
In all honesty though, would Bristol City bring along a first team 'Premiership' * squad for a pre-season friendly at Chippenham? But you do worry, because Chippenham should be rock solid STFC support (like Melksham), but it isnt. He followed Swindon all the time during the 1960's and up to about 2000 - used to do a fair bit the the away travel when he worked for Silver Knight coaches too. I think he's only been once this season and that was the first in a long time.
Just one of the many that abandoned STFC during that era and I doubt he'll ever go back - he's one of many sadly.
