It still amazes me how Bert got so many local young players and did well with them. I think the club are moving in the right direction in terms of getting back towards that but I'm not sure it will ever be seen in the same way again

I know I know :( I honestly think Fitton has got the right idea though, with the whole thing of bringing kids through the youth system, even if we do only get them in at 15 or 16. Hopefully we will be able to hold on to some gems. If one player a year comes through and becomes a regular in the first team it will be a massive improvement, and could see a bit of cash fly our way unless they stay until they are over 24. |
