Title: season tickets
Post by: yeo on Monday, May 12, 2008, 07:09:30
I was thinking I might get one but is it possible to do so online?

I dont really like interacting with human beings :x .I had a look at the form and it seems there could be provision for this but I cant see anywhere to do it.

Yeovil,

I think you can do it online, but not until the middle of June-ish as it won't be ready for that option before then.

(to make you feel less uncomfortable, this is an automated response)

Do it by post Yeovil. If you spend an extra £1.50, you don't even have to collect them, therefore avoiding another meeting of real people

No, or at least I don't have one. But you can download and print the relevant forms from the official website.

I wonder how many they have sold today. People were queing at 9 am this morning even though they didnt go on sale till 10. Do these people think they would sell out or something? :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

I also think we should have a counter showing ST sales on the website, in a church roof fund style

Probably the retired folk of Swindon wanting to be first in the queue

I suspect we will probably see a weekly update, although it may not help as you may get people watching the figure's sold to only get one at the cheap price and not wanting to get one at the slighlty higher price so if they don't know the figures it sort of forces their hand to take a chance and get one.

everyone who sits in the same row as me is a season ticket holder - Including the old man on the end of our row - He knows John from the ticket office and he always asks after him as his health is not the best and he has bad ankles and is not very good on his feet bless him.
Towards the end of the season the old man moved down to the disabled area and I was told that for health and saftey reasons they would prefer him to sit down there perminatley as they prefer to have able bodied people at the end of a row where possible in case of emergency evacuations or something

ANYWAY my boyfriend wants to get a ST this year and instead of sitting in front it would be nice for us all to sit in the same row - I need to find out whether the old man is moving or not - is it rude to ask the ticket office?

If he gets a disabled season ticket will they stop holding his seat up in the stand?

It's bloody fantastic! Put it this way, if we keep this rate up, we'll have done a third of last year's total sales by Monday!

EDIT: And yes I know the next 3000 "new ones" will be a lot harder than the 3000 renewals, but still credit where it's due.

there,s lots of non season ticket holders that are waiting for their chance to lay seige to the ticket office-the club should advertise the investment in red seats in the arkells that swung it for me.

To be honest if you cant muster £230 over the course of the close season, (payable in 2 installments!)  then you are clearly too poor to be getting a season ticket

Not really colin I have 3-4 mates who have a holiday to pay for and then have to obviously save spending money etc along with other commitments it could prove costly.

Would that be compatible with the club potentially raising the price if 6,000 aren't sold?

Also, the club is guaranteed its money if you pay up front...or in two installments. If people's bank accounts are closed would that mean they'd be able to get to all the remaining games without paying further installments?

These are genuine questions rather than a counter argument - I'm no expert so I'm not sure exactly if/how direct debits work in such a situation!

Title: season tickets
Post by: tans on Friday, May 16, 2008, 12:43:43
Surely the club would have a record of payment, if you miss a payment you cant use the ticket until the debt is recovered? Or something along those lines maybe.

i disagree.a direct debit monthly payment would attract a few more imo,and alot would find that easier.

i dont think they will get anywhere near 6000 myself

DD monthly payments create a considerable admin overhead/potential debt collection problem which is why in the past it was always farmed out and essentially it became a private finance deal - ie you bought your season ticket, the credit company fronted the dosh for you, then you had a private loan (at pretty uncompetitive rates) deal between you and the finance company. Which meant you paid more and the club lost out as it had to shell out for service fees to the loan co for every ticket sold

Just pretend the season hasn't finished & put the £20 a fortnight into a savings account. After 14 weeks which is about August the first you would have £140 FOR THE FIRST INSTALLMENT. Then a further 12 weeks later you have the second installment.
I don't see a DD as being much better than that.

Correct in theory, but how would you operate that at the turnstiles ? - Chaos would ensue

The whole point of the reduced prices is the early receipt of cash. If you then spread the reduced price over the season it's the same as a match day arrangement, and the club loses out.

There would be lots of time spent on working out how to beat the system.
