Title: Cloverfield.
Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 19:25:29
Iv'e just watched it.

I thought it was pretty good, although it did drag out a bit towards then end.

The effects where pretty damned cool and the monster was a bit of a devil, although I would have liked to see more of him in action.

I was quite impressed towards the beginning how they portrayed the shock and panic, having been in a similar situation (No not a Giant Monster, silly), I found it quite realistic.

I'd give it an 8/10 ,myself. It was lacking in plot but I don't think that applies to a movie like this.

Your thoughts? (If youv'e seen it)

Haven't seen it, I meant to get hold of it at some point but forgot.

Didn't loads of people go and see it in America because it had a trailer for the new Star Trek film before it or something? It's got the same Producer dude I think, the same one who does lost.

Having not seen it, I think that's the only bit of trivia I have I'm afraid.

Well I enjoyed it.

They are talking about doing a sequel of sorts, where they find another camera and watch someone else's footage.

I didn't like it, because of it being on a hand held camera. I didn't know that until we had paid for the tickets.
I watched 21 last night, that was ace.

this is well worth a read, its the special features on the BluRay version of Cloverfield, its like a military report into it, this guy has posted a load of screengrabs and subtitled it too. explains alot more, goes into more of the stuff the graphic novel did bout the companies and stuff that the film itself just couldnt.

The sequel is going to be from the military perspective and explain where it came from, fwiw, it was ok the jerky camera got on my nerves, and i clocked it at just over an hour, should have been a tv one off.

I thought it was good as well.  Enjoyed the perspective of looking at it from a witnesses point of view, and the terror and panic shown was pretty realistic to me (although i've never been in a city attacked by a monster)

Hope the sequel happens from the military point of view
