No beer in the concourses on Saturday then, or beer in the Legends lounge at half time.

I think it might be a wise move, especially if we end up relegating Millwall!

What a stupid over reaction.  Wilts Police advice?  Maybe, if so then they really lost their bottle recently.

What's the problem we're staying up, they're staying up??  End of season non event.

Over reaction was my initial thought as well.

I can't really see any problems.  Keep them out of the County as is the same with all away fans and thats that.

If I were the police I'd have far more concern over the likes of Gillingham and Rovers!

Title: Millwall
Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 15:03:06
I believe last week at gillingham might have influenced it.

Post by: janaage on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 15:04:13
Leeds would have been more of an issue for me, as the amount of Leeds fans in our end was quite substantial.

Millwall will just stick to their end and that's it, not sure how many they'll bring anyway.

I read it & immediately thought it nmust have something to do with the license rather than who we are playing.
If it's because of who we are playing it's insane.
Why Oh why are all these bloody idiots in charge of our country so quick to ban things etc. Why don't they instead make people responsible for their own actions instead. ie Bang up those who are violent (Drunk or Not). Why should the majority suffer for the few who can't handle their booze.

i think it's absolute bollocks...
surely it is incredibly easy to police the county i.e. barricade it with a load of old bill like with most teams who bring any lads, ok there's a bit of shouting, few swear words, but atleast there's zero violence.

frankly, anyone who's going to have any trouble on saturday with all the policing, won't be having it outside the county.

Yeah that's right.

It does feel a bit like two seasons doesn't it?

There's been a lot of change at the club, and I suppose it's coincided with me having spare cash for drinking and going (but not going to football) before becoming unemployed and skint.

But yeah, it's definitely been a long one. I'm hoping I can get back into it a bit next season. I've definitely lost the going lots bug, but I'd like to see 10ish home games next term. I'm not going to force myself though, I long ago lost the guilt for missing a game.

I just wrote a massive long post about the cons of having a season ticket. I think I'll save it and post it somewhere else when I feel like making a serious football thread.

Gist though, season tickets are very much in the interest financially of the club, not in the interest of the fans.

I think it's to be expected with any business. From management's perspective they have to do what they can to achieve the business' goals.

Taking your point, if anyone buys a season ticket after 1 Aug the price increase is very significant indeed. Clever marketing that.

This post is in no way cynical of the pricing strategy however.

Just a few quotes from Gillingham fans on Steve Lomas

He's about as mobile as a London Bus... Same turning circle as well.
Past his best about 4 seasons ago.

Lomas and jack should be taken to the vets and given the jab. They both sum up whats wrong in football these days.Neither wants to fullfill there roles as players ,just want to pick up the wage in any other jobn they would be fired for being unable to fullfill there role.

Lomas was offered the chance to be paid off but has declined isn't meant to be Stimson fan and vice versa.

For an end of season game I quite enjoyed it but my fucking head hurts this morning. Morrison had a really good game, a couple of dodgy moments but tried to play the ball - looks a good prospect. I didn't think I'd be saying this but I thought JPM played well although others with me thugoht he was crap. Allen had a decent game. Brez made some good saves and his kicking was spot on.  Good goal by McNamee who had a very quiet game.
Couldn 't believe the police. Since 1975 Millwall have no history of truoble down here. In fact, if anything they've needed the police more. What a waste of money and a whole load of security measures for nothing. Fair play to the Millwall fans for not reacting.
I also hope Danny Senda gets better soon. He looked fucked the minute he hit the deck. Town End were stupid bastards luckilly the rest of the crowd made up for it.

It was only a very small minority of the Town End, most clapped him off and I heard a couple of people have a go at the twats at the front who were shouting "let him die". Looked nasty straight away, hope he gets better in time for next season.

Overall the game wasn't massively entertaining but I didn't expect it to be. We won, it was a bit of a laugh. Good day if you ask me! JPM did ok as a make-shift right back seeing as its not eactly a natural position for him, Morrison had an alright game and Allen did ok. Nobody had a particlarly bad game I don't think, we were just short of ideas, or perhaps just weren't too fussed. Either way!

Town End were stupid bastards luckilly the rest of the crowd made up for it.

It was only a very small minority of the Town End, most clapped him off and I heard a couple of people have a go at the twats at the front who were shouting "let him die".

It was indeed a very small minority and when they realised he was seriously hurt they shut up.

Not sure what some people think they heard but I only heard applause when he was stretchered off.

I must admint from 'the don' a few chants of let him die etc started, but at first it just looked like he fell over and stayed down. There wasnt even anyone around him.

They soon shut up when he didnt get up and it became apparent he was seriously hurt

One thing, the twats in the South stand who were chanting 'you're not famous anymore'.

Got to say I think Allen and Morrison are both going to make it. Morrison is an absolute beast of a boy for his age and should have no problems with the physical side of the game. Allen looks very skillful. Ive liked him from day one, but always worried about his size. Looked bigger to me on saturday, just keep working away this summer. Im confident they are both going to make it, great news for Fitton's strategy.

Joyce has it much tougher than the other two being a striker. You need a bit of luck, he's given himself a great chance by scoring on debut. But we should sign another striker in the summer (Sam Parkin PLEASE!). Cant see him starting.

Disagree about allen I just don’t think he is strong enough but time will tell. Mcgovern done ok but would get murdered by a decent winger.Morrison was obviously pick of the bunch and Cox workrate is still unbelievable

The twats singing let him die should be ashamed of themselves itys not very often I tell swindon fans to shut the fuck up but I was embarrassed by that.

Oh and again it seems McNamee is less effective with Vincent at left back which is a shame

Put Vincent in the middle and make him captain. Morrison and Kanyuka will learn a lot more alongside Vincent than they will Aljofree. Also Ifill plays a lot better with Vincent there.
Vincent is in my opinion a better organiser and is better at helping the youngsters.

100% spot on, the sooner Aljofree effs off the better tbh.

So hang on move Vincent to CB and hope we can develop both Morrison and Kanyuka but also play Ifil alongside him because he plays better with Vincent there.

I agree Vincent is better in the middle, but it's not a long term solution. He'll be gone after next season.

or perhaps after about 2 good performances we built him up to be the best winger in league, when really he isnt.

He's going to be like every other Swindon player, inconsistant. Dont think it has anything to do with who plays behind him

I thought McNamee didn't see enough of the ball, but it was certainly an off day by his standards.

Still he grabbed the goal and he's been one of the most consistent of our players recently. I think he'll be great next season.

Or perhaps he does not play well when the left back behind him hoofs it long

he's had equally poor performances with Comminges playing behind him.

There are two reasons why McNamee has had a few bad games. One is when he's been crowded out by double marking and we've failed to exploit the space around him. The other is when we don't get the ball into his feet. Against Millwall I'd say it was more of the second - when we got it to him towards the end he began to come into the game more, and he put a couple of balls in and grabbed a goal

I noticed the commentator on virgin media said McNamee's goal got a deflection - didn't look that way to me, its just the way he hits them, I thought. Can anyone clarify that for me please?

It looked deflected at the time (stood in Town End).

I must admit at the time I thought it took a deflection, but the people I was with thought it was the way he hit it.

It came in off Shaw according to the beeb. That's certainly how I remembered it.

It definitely took a deflection off Shaw but not sure it was anything more than a slight diversion. Evans wouldn't have saved it anyway

I must admit my memory of the goal is fuzzy, there seemed to be a delayed reaction from everyone, players and fans.
