Could just be standard brinksmanship - e.g. his agent's been touting him round Championship clubs and none have bitten yet but enough have expressed an interest to perhaps turn his head a little or maybe his agent's claiming they have as a lever in contract negotiations. So the club respond by trying to force his hand a little, maybe hope he'll take the bird in the hand?

I do hope we Jack Smith has done enough to get a contract for next season.  He's been unlucky with injuries but on his day he's a class act at right back.

Certainly worth holding onto, even if the Minge signs up he offers something a little different in that position.

Be good if he signs .. im sure we can replace him tho if he does go.

I hope the minge does stay as he's been great for us, especially since Christmas. We'd definitely need to look to bring somebody in if he left as he's much better at full back than anybody in the current squad.

I suspect that he is going to be off to Plymouth but not rejecting his contract out right just yet gives a slight glimmer of hope

Id be disappointed too but I want players playing for us that want to be here and if he doesn't then I'd rather he went.  Hes not irreplaceable.

If he doesn't want to be here but plays proper ace to get other teams to notice him then I wouldn't care. We may even make a tidy profit on him when he did eventually bugger off.

Very good player. Not just my view either, most people have him down in our top 2 or 3 over the course of this season.

I agree with that.  Andy King has been scouting at the CG quite often recently, somebody obviously in mind and Plymouth are losing a full back who is moving to Charlton in the summer.
