If I was Malpas I would tell the players they're in for a bollocking if they don't repeat Saturday's performance. Sounds like we'll be taking about 600 which is alright given its a nothing game, so hopefully we'll make a bit of noise and get behind the lads.

As for predictions, I can see it being a tight game and I can see us conceding a late, sloppy goal.

Listening to BBC Bristol and it sounds like we've had chances. Well Peacock has had a clear header that even they seemed convinced that he should have scored. It was from a McNamee cross. Although they have said that Brez has made a couple of good saves. Easton also had a chance after 28 seconds.

This game is sounding as dull as the Liverpool vs Chelsea game (but without the goal).

Really enjoyed last night, probably because of the result :D

We didn't play very well and could easily have lost (Which makes it even sweeter!) Commingues, Vincent, Ifil and JP all played well, Mcnamee seemed to wake up in the second half. Jack Smith was woeful in the first half, marginally better in the second. Brez's kicking was pathetic!!

Compared to Orient away, our performance was poor, but who cares?

McNamee may as well have stayed in the changing rooms, he had a poor game, he was being closed down when he got the ball very rarely managed to get past his man, he needs to lean how to lose his marker and be helped out by others.

Brez...his kicking is getting worse, he he knocks it down the middle he is fine but if he knocks it wide then it goes out, if he sorted his kicking he would be a lot better

Not a good performance at all we was out battled in midfield (again), but it is the points that count so we can't complain.

Thought Ifil was solid and had a really good game

McNamee looked well off the boil tonight.  Perhaps two games in a few days has knackered him out a bit.

Loved Coxys celebration although a bit limited view from the stand.  Anything to see the pikeys getting wound up.

Thought Vincent did well and JP was better.  Lee P however I thought worked so hard and never stopped encouraging his team mates.  In my opinion would make an excellent captain.

Thought Miguel drifted into the centre a bit too often leaving his man with too much space at times but luckily nothing came of it.  Made me laugh him hobbling across the field at the end with his ice pack only to be piggy backed off.  :D

Liked the team spirit at the end though.

Agree with most of that also I would swap the Jack Smith and McGovern perfomances around, JP doesn't seem like he can be arsed most of the time and just tend to try the 60 yard killer ball everytime....he is constantly out of position when it comes to tracking back (and doesn't do that too often) which left Jack Smith horribly exposed so he did fairly well considering although was maybe a little lucky not to get a second yellow.
Brez needs to sort his kicking but bar that he was rock solid getting to all crosses first and keeping us in the game with some good saves.

One other mention Steve Bennett actually had a good game as ref so credit where credits due. Even showed some common sense keeping the yellows in his pocket where possible. When Comminges and Smith were injured at the same time he got them to go off on their respective sides of the pitch to make sure they could get straight back into position rather than both being stuck on the dug-out side which was good reffing IMO.

Thats twice this season we've mugged Rovers, ace  8)   Impressed we did last night because perrsonally I thought our reliable players (namely Peacovk, Minges, Easton and Jack Smith) were poor and we still dug a win out.

"Stayed in the changing rooms" is a bit harsh, but they did an effective job blocking him out of the game to start with. I was pleased to see he did seem to start to adapt to that though and when he couldn't lose his man still managed to create the space to get some decent crosses off. And I loved the "standing still stepovers have you had enough yet?" pisstake of their right back towards the end.

Meh, alright it wasn't a football classic they'll be talking about for years to come but we won a game we probably didn't deserve to (which is a pleasant change from losing games we deserved to get something from), it's a rare away win and we did the double over Wovers. As Tuesday night entertainment goes, I'll take that.

Nice to see the players looked genuinely chuffed when they came over to the fans at the end, especially Peacock - you could tell it really mattered to him. And talking of people who really wanted to win, you had to love Dave Byrne going loopy in front of us all at the end.

That was enjoyable,glad i went now.Not a footballing classic but then we won so doesn't matter.

On a side note it means i've now seen us win away at poxford,city,rovers and reading[elm park and the newbie].Silly but i'm well chuffed about it  :D I've not got the complete set yet though,still not us seen us win at the kassam.Not much chance of it happening for a while the way they are going either  :soapy tit wank:

Macca had a nightmare game, had two players marking him preety much most of the game so he had no chance of making an impact, something needed to be done i thought..

If 2 players are marking him, there is more space elsewhere, we need to exploit this. I'm beginning to think McNamee is very much a home player. He had two players marking him against Oldham and Huddesfield and he still took the piss.

This win also confirms our comfortable win of the west country mini league within League One. Huzzah!

I think people are being harsh an McNamee. He had little/no space or time all game because we didn't get the ball to him quickly enough, but he probably still put more balls into the box than any other player. It seems people aren't happy unless he's tearing the right back to shreds.

Brez was awesome and made some great stops. It was a bit disappointing to see how few ideas we had at times, but in the end we got the goal and that's what matters!

Very harsh on McNamee - he had two men on him all night and more often than not either got a ball in or layed it back. Anybody notice that the corner the goal came from came from him breaking inside and off to the right, for the first time in the match, and beating a couple of men in the process.

He'll inevitably be targeted by anyone who's scouted us - but if gives us space elsewhere....another reason it's imperative to have an attacking left back to be close to him when this happens

Another good point. He always finds time and space when he does that. Against Port Vale he was all over the pitch, although it did help that the Vale defence was nowhere in sight. Rovers were much more organised and he still managed to find a couple of gaps. And there was one sweet turn in the last couple of minutes where he did two defenders and started a run to the edge of the box all with one flick

Was watching from the main stand (long story) so am pleased to report our fans were mostly more noisy than the sullen natives. I enjoyed the "Irene's a prostitute" chant particularly.

Brez's first save was superb near the start.

Vincent was also very good at centre half I thought. Very composed and never really caught out. Can't really judge McNamee as I haven't seen him at home yet to compare him to his away games.

i think people need to realise that macnamee will have games where he struggles to impose himself.
i raised this at the weekend.
teams will do there homework on us and will deploy different tactics against us.
sometimes it will open up for the likes of macnamee,other times it will stifle his game.

I don't think that I even need ever watch McManatee to figure him out.

He is going to draw tons of attention from the opposition defenders, with them doubling up on him especially away from home.

Even away from home he may not pose a danger, but without a doubt he will be a "Deterrent" . No matter how inneffective he may be away from home they will know that he cannot be ignored.

Now if Macca was to advanced and find himself crowded out by defenders, a simple pass backwards to a supporting fullback who could then spray the ball to an attacking midfielder, or even better play the ball to an attacking right winger in 1 or 2 passes then the opposition defence would be pulled into all sorts of a mess. It's hardly rocket science innit.

At a higher level the other team may be able to assign a full back to deal with the sea cow, but hey ho this is the 3rd division and so that is unlikely for this league.

Me thinks that with an attacking midfielder and an out and out right winger  to compliment McManatee then we could have a very exciting season ahead next season.

If Rovers dont get a striker in I rekon they will get relegated next season. They try and squeeze the game which always makes things scrappy and difficult to watch, but they do work hard and at times I would have taken that over what we've produced this season. Their fans must be getting pretty bored.

We really are on the right track now. Malpas has us playing a good formation, weve got good options up front. Get rid of a few of 3 or 4 players. Get the best out of McGovern, and we could be going in the right direction.
