Went to the preview night last night, what a fantastic job they have done on the venue, It's totally killed Brunel which was sort of the idea. The sound system in there is incredible. Liquid is 10 times better than Envy. The smoking area is a bit small and shit but hey...

Can't say I won't go there again. Was lots of fit birds out there. I would imagine it will start off well and fizzle out!

Bouncers are often my gripe with clubs, Po Na Na was a fucking riot, but there was one bouncer who used to give us grief and bans like they were going out of fashion. I think his name was The Rock or Les Ferdinand.

I used to think Westwood was a cock, now i have a quiet respect for him, sorry Rezpek for him. Looks like the layout is pretty much the same but with a few new lights. Brunel had some good events at times but it doesn't look like liquid will.

Don't they have a vip area as well....I'm sure some of our players will be frequenting that are given any encouragment

Looks nice and plush - will cost a fair bit to keep it looking like that, otherwise it'll get as tatty as Eros did.

Ridiculously easy to lose people and incredibly difficult to find them due to it being almost symmetrical.

Saw Kaid out with Roberts - Roberts was on crutches, not really the best idea going out to a busy club like that  :soapy tit wank:

The tip is whatever bar you're near say it's the bar nearest/furthest from the dj booth, as that is slightly off-set.

Problem was people get drunk and think you're saying you're by the dj booth when you're not.

Only one of us was drunk and it wasn't me. Actually thinking about it, it was 2 people.

Actually we lost Loz (who you work with), I think she may have been drunk.

Saturday night was expensive :shock: wasn't packed either. Thought it was good though, dancefloors sweet!!

How much was it to get in? We were going to go their but the queue was back round sainsburys so we didn't bother in the end.

I managed a whole night in the Furnace last night without a threat of being kicked out or offending some bloke there with his girlfriend. Must be a record that. It was pretty dead though, is it always like that now a days?

Went there a couple of weeks ago and it was dead then too - even the chap that dances like Jarvis Cocker wasn't there and that is saying something.

Yep it used to be £5.  You can get half price tickets in the rolly which makes it £1.50 now!

My favourite thing about le furnace is that I've never failed to bump into someone I know in there. Everytime. Even when I randomly head down there with some random birds I've found in the vic, after someone had interrupted my smoothness with shouts of "flammableBen!!!"

Had a classic in there with my good friend Dan one night. Both pretty battered. It was some sort of hipityhop night, it appeared as if there were two different gangs/crews/somethings hanging around along the edge of the dance floor and glaring at each other. Dan and I being battered just dance about like berks on the dance floor in the middle of them. I like to think we used our diplomatic dancing to diffuse a possible nasty situation.

We got some well sketchy looks.

Seriously, it's called The Furnace, it's underground, and it has posters outside advertising future live bands called stuff like "Blood death rape" and "Dark soul" and "I'm an angst rideen 23 year-old teenager"

Oh, i didn't see any posters. They sound like fine upstanding bands though.

A mix through indie style pop, heavy rock and some metal sort of thing.

A few gems mixed in with a fair bit of crap, although probably with a better ratio than you'll get in most places around Swindon. Watching podgy goths types rock out can be hilarious, so even if you don't like a tune it can still be fun.

They weren't letting a lot of people in on Saturday, mainly because it was absolutely packed! The queue was massive! I did plan to go in, but fuck waiting for 2 hours... It'll be better when the noveltys worn off.

You can buy queue jump tickets online before hand. Thats what the other half did and got in straight away... apparently the divide between the 2 is a good idea, as us over 23's can mince on down to that bit and get served quicker and sit down for a bit if needed.

It was free entry before 11pm, after that it was £6. We got there at 11, got in at 12 which wasn't too bad, the bouncers were kicking people out of the queue because of the dress code, people were turning up in t-shirts, trainers etc..

I thought it would be packed in there as it was 1 in 1 out, but when i got in it really wasn't shoulder to shoulder packed like walkies..there was enough room to walk around freely. Dancefloor was packed though, and there was a strange burning smell..may have been the lights above, i got quite worried actually haha.

I think Im going this weekend - do you recommending getting the queue jumper tickets then?

I used to go to the same open mic night as one of the doormen from The Spot, and because of that me and a few of my mates get on well with quite a lot of the bouncers around Old Town. It comes in handy!

i got dragged out of brunel about a year ago after a bit of a scrap on a friday night, this cunt though ripped a brand new £65 polo and the jacket that was over it, booted me in the legs and back of the head. he was only a young lad aswell, early 20s tops.

i understand they have to be tough on any violence but this was just a bit of a flare up, one or two punches thrown and i didnt even start it.

anyway he came in my work the next week and wanted serving, i told him to fuck right off until he apoligised. and he did  8)

apart from that, i like doormen, good set of blokes at my work and fair with it. Some absolute nutjobs though with some nasty history, it's not a job for the faint hearted thats for sure.
