Title: Re: Joyce Post by: neville w on Monday, April 21, 2008, 08:51:35 Having seen Joyce on Saturday, I'd imagine that Fatbury is no longer concerned about Pook potentially leaving, as we have a ready made look-a-like replacement.
"The lad done good" Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, April 21, 2008, 09:02:44 Probably just another Andy Caton...
Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Monday, April 21, 2008, 09:05:15 In a non gay way I made a point of watching Joyce a lot as I have heard some good things, his awareness and running off the ball was very very good.I don’t think Caton had that awareness and positioning he just had raw pace .
Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Simon Pieman on Monday, April 21, 2008, 09:23:51 My workmate played against Andy Caton on Staurday. He said he is shit and doesn't have any pace anymore.
Joyce looked handy. Good workrate and for a youngster I thought he looked far from lightweight. Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Tails on Monday, April 21, 2008, 09:42:26 I refuse to judge him on his performance alone, and instead will judge him on previous youth players such as Caton and Alan Young. Therefore he is rubbish, get rid Malpas.
Title: Re: Joyce Post by: fatbury on Monday, April 21, 2008, 10:20:58 I got him that goal Saturday -
when he missed his first chance I said matter of factly to Bart - see he just hasnt got the quality and then BANG - top notch quality finish!! Well done to the lad - he looks a bit Coxyesque in his ways - deserves another go on the bench this weekend thats for sure Title: Re: Joyce Post by: fatbury on Monday, April 21, 2008, 10:21:40 oh yeah and I guess if the Rock did leave then Joycey would be a good replacement to follow - I like to back the youth players!

I always think this is a top quality in a striker. Some shrink when they miss a good chance, such a player was Craig Maskell....now Maskell was good but he did sulk a bit, which is maybe why his career never was as good as it might have been. Chalkie White could and did miss a sackful (see PO game v Sunderland), but he'd always come back for more. He got more clinical as he got older scoring 29 for Herefrod in 95/96 aged 36/37. Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Monday, April 21, 2008, 17:26:11 Talking of Maskell to this day the best sound i have ever heard was sound of his shot hitting the post and going in at wembley.
That sound and the sound of a womans orgasm(i think i heard one once) Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Bedford Red on Monday, April 21, 2008, 18:05:51 Quote from: "Reg Smeeton" I liked the fact that Joyce didn't hide having missed a decent chance. Craig Maskell used to sulk all the time, i remember that from the 92-93 season. If he didn't get the ball when he thought he should especially, Peterborough away a prime example. Nothing wrong with being greedy but you're right about him Reg. And about Chalky too, that play-off final was a prime example. We should have had about 6 or 7 that day. My son also thinks teh Maskell post noise is teh best sound ever....although he may have changed his mind since recently discovering girls. It was 3-3 thanks to Nicky Hammond! I've got the goals and highlights on video, that's how i remember. I was there but my memory isn't that good! was a cracking match, slaughtered them for a draw. How we didn't win that i'll never know. Title: Re: Joyce Post by: reeves4england on Monday, April 21, 2008, 20:52:13 Was good to see him grab the goal at the 2nd attempt. Watching the highlights I found it ridiculously funny to see the Port Vale guy decide he couldn't be bothered and hope it might have been offside!
I'm not oing to jump to any conclusions just yet but his movement did look good and he's clearly got a bit of pace - hopefully he'll get another chance (or 3) by the end of the season. Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Luci on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 07:58:17 I liked the fact that after missing the first, he still battled on to get the second. Glad he was given a chance.
Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Tails on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 08:03:51 I like the fact he instantly learned from his own mistake. The first chance, you could tell he was almost too eager to score and completely snatched at it. Compare that to the 2nd where he was composed and couldn't have hit it any better.

Yes, because he'll have never come across a chance like that before will he ? Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Tails on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 10:21:16 Not in first team football. Completely different to reserve / youth. The first one you could clearly see he was over excited and hit it far too early. He learnt from it and took the second chance superbly.

Yes, I see what you mean, but surely the same would apply each time he stepped up the ladder, therefore by definition you'd expect him to have learnt the lesson before now. By the same token, you wouldn't be able to make the same comment if he joins a club further up the hierarchy Title: Re: Joyce Post by: leefer on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 14:39:29 Was pleased for him, anyone who scores on debut needs applauding.
Title: Re: Joyce Post by: Simon Pieman on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 16:38:04 I don't think you can anticipate the adrenaline rush of your debut. Even the best can get put off by the big occassion. I think Tails was probably trying to say he regained his composure well, after the earlier error.

Generally I agree, but its a bit of a bugger, when you're camping, and teh cow is mooing in the next field at some unsaintly time, like break of day, when you fancy a bit of extra kip. Even worse is when the buggers are in the same field feeding, ruminating on the grass about a foot from your head.
