Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Don Rogers Shop on Monday, April 7, 2008, 13:39:33 I was thinking about him on Saturday for some reason. The day he died was the day the fans connection with the club died really imo .
Always nice when he used to walk around town with his swindon jacket on smoking his pipe , probably the last man at the club I can remember actually being proud to be connected with the club. Rip Kevin Aka Jimmy Saville Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Monday, April 7, 2008, 13:46:15 I sometimes think back to Jimmy Saville's death too, you can't help but feel when he passed away the heart of the club went too. We've never really recovered.
I always remember that bit in the C4 documentary when him and Chalky are talking about "injured" players. Quality piece of fly on the wall that was! RIP Kevin indeed! Title: Kevin Morris Post by: DV on Monday, April 7, 2008, 13:49:23 Hmmm think it really ended the day we sold Shaun Taylor to Bristol City...
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, April 7, 2008, 13:51:11 Kevin Morris was around at the start of my support but was a family friend. WE should of found a place for him at the club, a non playing legend.
We were chatting yesterday about loan players and said we felt Jimmy David would of been in teh prem by now. Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Monday, April 7, 2008, 13:56:45 Quote from: "DV" Hmmm think it really ended the day we sold Shaun Taylor to Bristol City... Agreed that was a dark moment, but the Kevin Morris incident really knocked management, players and fans for six. He's never ever been replaced in the emotional link kind of way. Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Arriba on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:10:31 ricky hunt and macmahon started the slide imo and drove many away.
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Batch on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:30:40 Quote from: "arriba" ricky hunt and macmahon started the slide imo and drove many away. Yes and no. Well mainly yes. In a normal model it's sustained success on the pitch that translate to a large crowd. Unless you do something drastic like Bradford did in slashing the season ticket prices of course. Hunt broke the club trying to get back into the Prem. From that point onwards success was going to be difficult enough with a well run club, nigh on impossible on the shambles that was left behind. Rip Kevin Aka Jimmy Saville Its a fair point ....I attended the funeral. Very moving, there was a lot of debate at teh time as to the reason KM did it. I don't suppose we'll ever know. Hunt used to send McMahon on management training courses, which were run by his company...there's no place for sentiment in modern management. Somehow though afootball club is different. Eddie Buckley hung on in there for some years, mainly because he worked for no money. Title: Kevin Morris Post by: RobertT on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:41:32 Eddie and Kevin used to take my Dad to training back in the early 60's before he gave up football and took on an apprenticeship as a Painter with Arnold Darcy.
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:41:34 Is Eddie Buckley still around?
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Reg Smeeton on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:51:10 Quote from: "janaage" Is Eddie Buckley still around? Only in the memories of us old skool Town fans. Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:53:49 Has he passed away too?
He was on that C4 programme too wasn't he, with Oggi, "stay calm old man" or something to that affect. Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Arriba on Monday, April 7, 2008, 15:55:08 died last year didn't he?

Yes, I am sure I saw that Eddie had passed away.Title: Kevin Morris Post by: chalkies_shorts on Monday, April 7, 2008, 20:25:46 Only met Kevin Morris a couple of times but he went way out his way to help me when he didn't need to . An absolutely sound bloke. He's not been replaced but Dick mackey is also a sound bloke.
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Bushey Boy on Monday, April 7, 2008, 20:44:22 no ones close now days, well maybe peacock as he does seem to love this club
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: magic8ball on Monday, April 7, 2008, 21:58:32 I rememebr watching Town play in a friendly against Swansea at the old Vetch field about 12 years ago. I was sitting right near the dugout, so asked some fella in a Town tracksuit for his autograph. Turned out to be Eddie Buckley (I didn't have a clue who he was at the time!) and he did look a little shocked to be asked!

Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 08:48:37 Peacock's been here 2 minutes, what makes you think he "loves" STFC?
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 12:13:20 Quote from: "janaage" Peacock's been here 2 minutes, what makes you think he "loves" STFC? Was wondering that myself! He does seem like a chap who'll give his all for the club, possibly more so than he has for others, but "loves the club" is pushing it a tadTitle: Kevin Morris Post by: DMR on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 12:47:39 Anyone who thinks Peacock loves this club wants to cast their mind back to his Bristol City days.
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: Arriba on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 12:51:04 pook and allen are probably the only players who love the club.and even they would move if a bigger club came in for them.thats the modern game for you
Title: Kevin Morris Post by: janaage on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, 12:59:37 Quote from: "DMR" Anyone who thinks Peacock loves this club wants to cast their mind back to his Bristol City days. That's what I was thinking Dave. Sure he enjoys his time here, which is a credit to the bloke but to say he loves Swindon is going OTT a little. Title: Re: Kevin Morris Post by: 4D on Friday, October 11, 2024, 17:06:34 30 years today. RIP fella.
Title: Re: Kevin Morris Post by: Batch on Friday, October 11, 2024, 17:10:48 RIP
Title: Re: Kevin Morris Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 10:57:26 He was a lovely bloke, no time for idiots and spoke his mind.
Met him many times and he was always polite and pleasant, such a shame he died how he did. RIP Sir. Title: Re: Kevin Morris Post by: Wobbly Bob on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 11:11:11 Dare I say it, from back in the day, "there's only one Jimmy Savile" popular with opposition fans at the time.
An innocent enough chant at the time. RIP and don't think that the club was ever the same after his tragic passing. |
