New Chief Scout in today.

Apparently MM has been back in Dundee for the last few days aswell.

If we do play on a Friday night it will be a one off.

From Nick Watkins on BBC Swindon this morning.

But surely he should be concentrating on the squad? If we are on a winnign streak then fine but when we're palying badly al lhis concentration should be putting it right?

Just a thought like.

Management does not have a 123 as such how to get it right, im sure Fred will add to this but sometimes taking a few days out to assess things can work better

I agree. It's the same with any 'problem'. Sometime some time out gets you to the solution quicker than hammering at it for 24/7.

Good to see the Friday Night Project quantified. If it's one or two games then why not.

I would agree with that after a long hard season but not after three months in a new job in which the seson has gone pear shape since he arrived. He should be rolling up his sleeves and getting those lazy players in early each morning and leaving late each afternoon, only hard work will turn this around, not a jolly up to Dundee for two or three days.

It's almost primordial, elementary that man will go back to his radioactive beach, deep sea vent or big bang shelter to get back to basics and try to unravel the puzzles thrown up by the search for the meaning of life and an effective formation for match day. A few days in the sand, sea or cave, depending on which theory you subscribe to, will see man emerge possibly clutching the answer to abiogenesis or how to beat Oldham as the case may be. There are two potential difficulties here. Firstly, it has been almost 4.5 billion years and still no unanimous consensus, so for hoMo Malpasiens to resolve matters in a few days seems unlikely. Secondly, he could have his head bitten off by a dinosaur (most likely Thisisosaurus Wrecks) as he steps blinking into the sunlight.

I hope he's had a full set of jabs - wouldn't want him coming back from such a strange and exotic location with one of them funny foreign lurgies and spreading it round the players. It might affect their performance.

Byrne hoping Moses won't part with Town
By Jon Boyle
Comment
Assistant boss David Byrne is desperate for Swindon Town to keep hold of Moses Ashikodi for next season - as he believes the on-loan Watford striker is the new Jason Roberts.

The pacey 20-year-old Nigerian struck a sizzling hat-trick in the Robins' 6-1 thrashing of non-league Chippenham Town in the semi-finals of the Wiltshire Premier Shield on Tuesday.

And Byrne believes if the injury-plagued Ashikodi can stay fit, he could develop into a multi-million pound player similar to Blackburn's Premiership ace Roberts.

advertisementByrne said: "He hasn't had a pre-season for two years but if we can get him fit he's the sort of player who could be worth a lot of money -I think he's the new Jason Roberts.

"Whether he can come here permanently is something we'll have to sit down and talk about from now until the end of the season.

"I think he's out of contract in the summer but that's something we'll have to discuss with our board of directors and also with Watford.

"He's certainly did himself no harm on Tuesday."

Byrne feels Ashikodi could cause problems to any defence, and added: "People might say it's only against Chippenham but I don't think it would have mattered who he was playing against.

"He's one of these players that if you give him the opportunity by putting the ball in the right areas he can be a handful to anybody."

Byrne believes the powerful striker could be the answer to struggling Town's current goal-scoring woes - and was eager to fill in boss Maurice Malpas ahead of Town's home clash with Oldham on Saturday.

"Maurice wasn't at the game because of a prior engagement arranged a long time before he came here, but I'll be letting him know just how good Moses was.

"We're struggling to score goals at the moment and he's done what we've asked him to do by scoring a hat-trick, plus his link-up play was excellent too.

"And this week in training he's been as good as I've seen him. I just think he's starting to regain the levels of fitness that he needs and he's now starting to see the dividends come from it.

"All we can do is report back and then obviously we'll take it from there, but he's done his first team prospects no harm at all."

The most shocking thing in this thread is that we are considering signing Moses.
Scored a lot for the stiffs, but looked a bit like Fola/Sabin rolled into one in the limited first team appearances he's had.

Of course my judgement may be wrong, but you can only say what you see.

Instead of criticising Malpas for buggering off to the land of the sweaty's for a few days has anyone actually stopped to think that the players may have been given a couple of days off and Malpas is in sweaty land then and it just so happens to co-incide with the donald duck shield game (apptly named as we have already been knocked out of the mickey mouse cup)

Oh and Moses on a permanent basis...now I am worried if that is the 'quality' we will be signing

There are others who can take training.

Ken doesn't stand a chance, anything he says or does will be ignored until Mo is boiled in oil or the ravens leave the Tower of London.
