Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Bogus Dave on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 17:34:10 Haha did anyone else hear the MK fan on 606 just now, making an absolute tit of herself. Priceless
Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Bushey Boy on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 17:41:50 I was fuming at the sky bloke saying the following:-
'Forget Wimbledons history, this is where/what Franchise as about, they now have thir own history' It was something along those lines, they stole a fucking club. It seems this countrys top flight supporters havent got a club about football. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: pauld on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 17:42:55 I hear they're redoing the Football League Trophy in plastic to mark the occasion

The man's an embarassment.
Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Bogus Dave on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 17:49:19 Haha. Two Mcdongs fans on the radio, both asked why they didn't follow the original team in milton keynes, playing on Non-league.
"umm, i didn't know they existed. We've got league football now" And another one stating they have nothing to do with wimbledon. If they have nothing to do with wimbledon, then why did they not start from the bottom of the footballing pyramid. grrrrrrrrrr jesus wept Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: adje on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 17:49:42 Quote from: "STFC dave" Haha did anyone else hear the MK fan on 606 just now, making an absolute tit of herself. I am seething. I shouldnt have it on because listening to it is making it is making me more and more and more angry. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 18:21:39 I rang them up, and the researcher gave a big sigh and told me it was all the FA's fault for letting them do it. There is no way they are going to let me back on.
But Id love it if they did because id fucking rip into that southern new age football cunt and his cunt of a researcher and tell them what a pair of absolute cunts they are. Like I said they dont have normal supporters on that program anymore. Just whining women who have just discovered football with the MCDONS. I hate you BBC. You are perpetrating the modern football myth on that show now. Id even have Danny Baker back on. Cunts thats all you are, the lot of you. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: yeo on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 18:58:55 Pfft I must have been listening to something different.I find it impossible to get outraged by the Wimbledon thing, people should move on.

a fucking disgrace to football Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: sonic youth on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 19:37:36 every mk don "fan" at wembley today should pause to think about how the wimbledon fans felt when they lost their club, along with all their trophies.

Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Spencer_White on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 20:03:38 Id have loved to have got on their and told Spoony what a great Franchise Liverpool are going to be when they get some great American owners. Loved that banner in the Everton end welcoming all the Liverpool fans to merseyside.
Wimbledon might have been the first. But they arent going to be the last. End of the day, Wimbledon were brilliant. They were a non league club who won the FA Cup in 10 years flat. If you look at our attendances v Wimbledon in the 1980's they were good. They were a big draw. But their face didnt fit anymore. Any fan of any club who doesnt hate the Franchise doesnt deserve a football club themselves. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: lebowski on Sunday, March 30, 2008, 20:09:56 (Yeovil Red, I think he's talking to you...)

Don't forget they've only had 4 seasons to try and build up a rivalry with someone, early on it is always going to be a team they've been competing with, and lost to. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Ardiles on Monday, March 31, 2008, 17:07:32 With any luck, those at the FA responsible for sanctioning the Franchise debacle will take one look at that 'cut & shut' shirt and vomit violently - before vowing to never again allow something like this to happen.
I've been away for the weekend in Cornwall...but take it from the other posts in this thread that the Dongs won their game. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: lebowski on Monday, March 31, 2008, 17:10:53 Oh I didn't see the bottom picture.

The club wanted to name themselves FC Wimbledon when they were set up but the FA I think said that the name was too close to the original name (although the club at the time was using the name Wimbledon FC at the time of the MK move so perhaps now the name has been dropped it can be used) Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 07:01:03 There is no Wimbledon anymore, AFC are not the so called 'real' Wimbledon

I think you get my point Have to say I disagree. I regard AFC Wimbledon as the continuation of the club that won the 1987 Cup Final, played that awful (but quite effective) long ball game in the 1980s and early 1990s and that beat us 3-0 at the County Ground in our Premiership season. If you accept that the most important component of any club is its fanbase, then this is the conclusion you would (probably) reach - whilst I also accept that not all Wimbledon FC fans became AFC Wimbledon fans. The only link Wimbledon FC has with Franchise FC is a company number at Companies House which, for me, has far less resonance. The dirty Franchise conceded this point themselves when they returned all of Wimbledon FC's trophies. Title: Peter Winkelman Post by: thepeoplesgame on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, 10:52:01 I feel sorry for Milton Keynes City.
